In his recap of Day One from the Winter Meetings, in Newsday, David Lennon writes that the Nationals are interested in Mets C Johnny Estrada, who was initially acquired for Guillermo Mota.

…if you recall, there had been talk of including estrada in the deal with Lastings Milledge, which brought back Ryan Church and Brian Schneider, but the Nationals prefered to hold off and explore other options…apparently, those options did not pan out

Earlier this morning, in a report for MLB.com, citing ‘a baseball source with knowledge of the situation,’ Bill Ladson reported that the Nationals are shopping OF Austin Kearns and infielder Felipe Lopez for starting pitching, while expressing interest in Mets RHP Mike Pelfrey as well as Twins RHP Kevin Slowey.

In 161 games with the Nationals last season, Kearns hit .266 with 16 HR and 74 RBI.
