Buzz: The Indians, Pirates Connection
According to the New York Post, the Indians have talked about trading LHP Cliff Lee and Franklin Gutierrez to the Blue Jays for Alex Rios.
…yesterday, there was a bit of buzz in Nashville suggesting that the Indians had been shopping lee in an effort to get Jason Bay from the Pirates, but i can only assume that is no longer an option…rios is better, anyways…
…at the same time, i believe the Mets inquired about bay during last year’s trade deadline, and they could be intrigued by pairing Xavier Nady with church to play in right field next season…so, i am a bit surprised to have not heard about more Mets-Pirates rumors, which would logically include RHP Ian Snell, as well…nevertheless, that line has been fairly quiet, which is good if you’re a fan of the Pirates…
