During a recent on-air spot for ESPN News, Peter Gammons said that reports of a
fifth player being offered by Boston to the Twins for Johan Sanatan are ‘untrue.’
The thing is, an hour earlier, in a post to ESPN.com, Gammons wrote that the Red Sox have ‘sweetened their offer’ for Santana, by ‘adding a fifth player to the trade proposal.’
…buckle in, folks, it’s that time of year…
…thanks to gene m for the link…

Thats Gammons for ya
And in other news… Omar leaves the Winter Meetings failing to do anything… and his response will be “i think we made alot of progress and laid the foundation for some potential trades down the line’.
Global New York Mets
Like I said in a different thread. Gammons and Phillps are completly out of the loop but consistently make things up along the way and send it out there as fact.
Yes, but what about Santana?
SIGN COLON!
ummm how about no
[...] It is said that the rumors of the Dodgers involvement with Erik Bedard are untrue as well, say Peter Gammons[...]
I can no longer get excited about posts dealing with other teams acquiring top-line pitching. Instead of buckling in I need to grab the air mask that just dropped from the overhead compartment and assume the crash position.
I don’t care if reports are accurate or wildly off the mark.
I just want more, more, MORE. REPORTS EVERY 10 SECONDS PLEASE. Who cares about accuracy!
Maybe I should temporarily stop reading this site.
It’s a little too much for my heart…
like i said earlier can some one please make a freakin deal so the rest of the deals can start falling into place.
So true. 2 days and not a single major deal has gone down. What does everyone have cold feet?
Ok, so now where’s the article by page 6 saying it wasn’t John Maine wanting to try on the girl’s dress,
This is excruiiating for me. It’s like watching someone get raped and not being able to do anything about it. Why in hell do the Red Sox have so many young and talented prospects to give away for Santana? They have won 2 out of the last 4 World Series, meaning their draft pick slots haven’t been very good. Three years ago, we spent several years as cellar dwellars or in the neighborhood. In some ways, there has been some parity in baseball, but an owner who is willing to spend in a larger market with a smart GM and scouting and development staff seems to trump all else.
cver, wow, this must be affecting you, such an undignified comparison. I’ll give you a mulligan this time.
YB
Hey YB. True it’s maybe wrong to compare baseball “tragedy” will real tragedy, still there is an awful feeling of helplessness. Things have gone so wrong. Not so much bad has happened as of now, but it sure seems that the Mets aren’t able or willing to do too much to intervene.
Ther reports I am involved with my sedretary are untrue according to Peter Gammons.
Whew! Got nervous there.
breaking news
omar minaya has just been found talking to mr.met and asking him what he should do
So in essence what the Twins get is:
Crisp – a 4th OF (basically Endy Chavez) who Bosox don’t want
Lester – who is a Blue chip
Lowrie in the Arizona Fall League, and he was very negative about Lowrie’s defense, using the words “hard hands.” The scout said there’s “not a snowball’s chance” Lowrie plays shortstop in the big leagues.
Masterson – a possible blue chip
And how is this such a great package?
The name “Johan Santana” is making me sick….. DO SOMETHIN!@$#
This just in…
The Mets sign Butch Huskey to a 4 year deal, 40 million
M’s looking to unload or outright Jose Lopez. Nice little bench acquisition. We may not have the pieces though…
humber gotay and gomez maybe gets it started.
As quoted from my friend…
“we look stupid trading owens and lindstrom right now”
“vargas was terrible last year”
“at least we could have used them for trade bait”
your mom is a true baseball whiz
