Buzz: Twins are Weighing Options
By Matthew Cerrone - Dec 4, 2007 12:55 pm

According to Jim Molony, citing ‘multiple sources,’ at his blog for MLB.com, the Twins are talking with teams about Joe Nathan, though ‘nothing was imminent on that front.’

…the word from minnesota had long been that if the Twins choose to trade Johan Santana, they’ll look to move Nathan as well…on the other hand, if the decide to keep santana, they’ll keep Nathan too…so, if they’re shopping nathan, to me, this must suggest they are finally committed to parting ways with santana

    OK, i’ll bite.

I “suppose” i’d be willing to throw Reyes into a deal that brought back Santana, Nathan and one of either Mauer or Morneau.

From BP’s Blind Quotes From the Winter Meetings

Scene: Cal Ripken, Steve Finley and Jim Leyritz are sitting on a couch in the Opryland hotel.

Observer: “All that’s missing is Brian Sabean and a pen.”

sweeny murti just stated that the Yankees will not sweeten their offer and they believe santana is going to the Red Sox

I would love having Joe Nathan on this team. He’d be the perfect set up guy for Wags. He could also close if needed and I think he’s a local guy. Seriously Omar, if youre reading this ( and I know you are ). Joe Nathan would be huge!!

or he’d be the perfect replacement at closer after Omar trades lockerroom lawyer Billy to a pretender

Yeah hey buddy, Nathan has done much better recently than Wagner has. No way he sets up for Wagner. And seeing how Wagner can’t do anything but close I don’t see that happening. Especially since we can’t get Santana where exactly would be the reasoning the get Nathan. Then we wouldn’t have a choice but to get free agent SP since Nathan will cost 2-3 good prospects. Say Gomez, Pelfrey, maybe even Heilman included.
