According to Adam Rubin in the Daily News, free-agent LHP David
Wells is trying to ‘get an audience with the Mets,’ since he is seeking only a one-year contract and is a ‘good influence on young pitchers.’
…good influence…ummmm, okay…
At any rate, he has yet to ‘get an audience with Omar Minaya,’ writes Rubin..
…and he will not get an audience with omar, from what i understand…

SIGN HIM
Keep him away from our team…..
There’s a reason he can’t stay on a team more tha 1 yr.
get him on our team so if we get in anymore brawls, we pretty much are guarenteed to win
He got hiss a55 handed to him by some 5′5″140lb kid in a diner.
Remember? He lost his teeth.
we havent had an enforcer since dennis cook retired, that crazy crazy bastard
Excuse me… did he say “good influence”?!?!?!?!?!?
“Here kid … have a beer you’ll pitch better”
with beer, Humber might actually hit the strike zone
LOL … ahhh come onnnnn. He hasn’t even been given a chance. In his one chance he threw strikes … he just lacked stamina. Maybe a Red Bull.
skip the red bull, just give him some wiiiiiings!!
haha
This is really starting to get embarrassing, Livan Hernandez, Shawn Chacon, Bartolo Colon and now David Wells. Why don’t we just bring back Steve Trachsel and Al Leiter already.
hahahaha
As a Mets fan, this is what we’ve come to expect.
I just drank a bottle of Liquid Plumber
Hemlock for me
Pass the Kool-Aid, Rev. Jones.
What is David about 54? Oh yeah, that’s his waist size.
Why don’t the Mets sign Livan Hernandez, Colon and Wells, not only can they pitch for the Mets but they can also sign a deal where they lose weight with Jenny Craig. Win-Win for the Mets! And whoever gets in the best shape first, gets a contract with the Mets.
Yeah….and the three of them can go “belly-to-belly” on “The Biggest Loser”. As my own stomach turns………..
tHE nEW yORK METS present THE BIGGEST LOSER:
They lose weight andgames
Meal…..or NO Meal! LOL
Or they can succeed Jared of Subway.
Well he’d certainly make that “big splash” that everyone is looking for. He makes a bigger splash than Santana, Bedard and Haren combined!
David Wells will be a good influence on angry drunks around the world.
Didn’t he get his teeth knocked out by a guy who was 5′2″ named Carmine at an all-night diner?
Belly flop!
This man is an audience unto himself!
Sounds like we are going to have a hell of a 2008 season…
ESPN is reporting that despite the Mets interest in Wells.. we simply don’t have enough donuts to go get him..
Other teams are reportedly offering sprinkled donuts and bearclaws.. while the mets only have honey glazed, and one jelly filled which is still a few hours away….
Doh! Nuts! LOL!!!!
How can you trade sprinkled donuts for anything?! Don’t you know how great those donuts will turn out to be? Let Wells go fetch his own food! Those sprinkled donuts have a bright future ahead of them. Giving up the Jelly one for David Wells is already giving up too much.
I hear the Mets are meeting with Mickey Lolich’s agent right now!
Minnie Minosa is available as well.
Great player…..not hefty enough, though!
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAH! Hilarious!!
Man, these winter meetings are getting more and more depressing every day. It is Wednesday and all the Mets have heard is no. It is like the ugly girl trying to get a date to the dance.
I think Omar should seriously consider Snell and even Millwood. I wouldn’t mind Burnett but it depends on how much they want. It seems our search for a legitimate #1 is over so I just want to see Omar fix the starters and add some bullpen help.
Are we that ugly? At least we have a nice personality, right? :)
Laughing to keep from crying! Man, this is painful!
Care to play a round of darts with me? I’m fixing to set up a dart board with all the free agent pitchers there and wherever the dart lands, that’s who the Mets should get.
And for my preference, the ones that I really don’t one I shrunk to a smaller size, although it takes alot to do that for Colon, Hernandez and Wells.
Hey! What’s the big idea of giving away Omar’s secret strategies??? Now everyone know’s!
Good one, MetsieFan84! Count me in!! :)
Hey, if it works for Omar, it has to be right! But I’m sure this is all because Wagner complained that the Mets need to do something and he is trading away Milledge just for kicks.
Oh no. David Wells is looking for a 1 year deal. Let’s kill ourselves.
Fatass Wells is an audience.
They’ll need a bigger suite before they can grant him an audience.
This overdue humor means we, Mets fans, are finally coming to grips with the realization that we are not getting an ace or even a #2-4.
Sad but true, kevin2elster21!
Sign this fat ass so he can eat innings (along with everything else) and he can turn our two young p*ssies (Humber and Pelfrey) into confident pitchers. He’s old, fat and doesn’t have “ace” stuff but he can make em toughen up and have SOME sort of pitching presence instead some blue rubber thing hanging out of your mouth.
Haha! I love it!
Word is Warren Spahn is “requesting an audience” with the Mets. Spahn, who’s been dead since 2003, is “looking to fill the spot-starter, long relief role” for the Metropolitans.
Met GM Omar Minaya was quoted as saying “….obviously we’re aware of Spahn’s current state, but when a pitcher with his record and experience expresses interest, we’ll have to listen.”
Omar: “We are considering any and all options right now … You know what I mean? If they are buried in the ground, jumped out of a airplane with no parachute or they just happened to come back from retirement at the age of 77, they are all options.” Omar then added “They might be getting older but they are experienced veterans that are pieces for the Mets team.”
ESPN reports a fan jumps off five story building after hearing this news.
The Mets GM did meet yesterday with the agent for Octavio Dotel and Shawn Chacon, and at least is talking with Carlos Silva’s rep.
At least that’s better than the Fatty-3 of Wells, Livan, and Bartolo.
He also likes donuts and Beer.
Ummm, Beer!
Thanks guys..I came into work late…and this humourus thread made my day…..I think we are the wittiest/funniest fans in the world..I suppose it is due to our sadness…2008 is gonna suck!
Omar, just Say no to fat slob, mark fuhrman loving, over
the hill lefties. Please!, for the love of the orange and
blue STOP this romance of out of shape, old, always
hurt pitchers. STOP,Omar,Just, Stop!
Why? Wagner wanted Omar to do something and he is. Talking to Livan Hernandez. lol
You know, they say in the theater, theres a fine line
between comedy and tragedy.
And the line is lost in David Wells’ shadow, or buried under his empty beer bottles.
He tried to toe the line, but the toe got gout.
Hey, I had a post ate. Wonder what I said?
recap: Most teams have done nothing. 1 big deal (detroit), medium deal (Phils with Lidge), and 2-3 minor shufflings (including the Mets).
25 teams that don’t seem to be involved at all.
SO is this the only fan base that is planning how best to off themselves?
I understand the old hose from the tailpipe in a garage is
painless BUT ta gotta make sure no one comes home
early otherwise you end up like Karen Quinlan or Teri Schiavo.
LG-Wells C-Colon RG-Livan,
Just add a couple of Tackles and THAT’S a hellofa line!
Omar’s pursuit of new talent is starting to look like something straight out of Major League.
Mets Exec: “This guy here is DEAD”
Omar: “Well cross him off then.”
Hah, I thought it was looking like Major league as well…..and that looking to draft players out of the California Penal league is starting to look like a better option.
Damn!!–That crosses the “immortal Babe” off the list.
But hey, what about the Reuschel brothers? and ‘ol Mickey
Lolich??
Plus, if we do sign Wells, he could always E-Bay bid on an old
Stengel Original Mets Cap! How cool would that be??
Wheres Sidd Finch when we REALLY need him?
Tough call Wells or Lima.
If the Mets get Burnett, they can have him and Humber in the rotation. along with Tommy John as the new Pitching coach.
