the problem here, is that the Orioles don't need to trade Bedard, there's no pressing need to do so right now. If they don't get a package they want, they hold onto him, and maybe down the road some team will be more desperate for him at that point. It's not like he's going to be a FA after this season.

"computer programs, scientific probes, meditation, tofu-eating voodoo?"

Give him 5 minutes with Victor Zambrano and Zach Duke. Just 5 minutes. Maybe he thought he was doing a Just For Men commercial or something? What a clown.

This all goes back to the trade deadline in 2003, when we were a team below .500, but still in the Wild Card race. Jim Duquette (who by the way, how did he ever get another job???) gives away the jewel of the system (who would be our ace right now....by a long shot).

bedard's a pipedream...silva's an overpaid livan, might as well just get livan...but seriously, does anyone think that maybe it's time to start drafting differently? get SP, SP & more SP with those 1st 3 picks...and then heck, KEEP GOING!!! Now for this year, I am going to stick to what I have been saying for days now, give up the wild goose chase, call Pittsburgh and swap for Snell & Nady...if they offer Duke also, TAKE HIM! remember this, he may suck in Pittsburgh, but this is the franchise that has given up young pitching with talent for years because they can't manage it in house (i.e. Jason Schmidt, Ollie, etc)...you don't think a change of scenery wouldn't help? Offer Gomez, Mulvey and Heilman & even perhaps Carp for that deal...SP does grow on trees but talent doesn't...Sure Duke fell off a little, but who is to say "The Jacket Racket" wouldn't be able to fix him with his computer programs, scientific probes, meditation, tofu-eating voodoo?

I've come to the conclusion that the Dodgers are all talk, and won't be a factor in any deals...They will hold onto their prospects which can only help the Mets chances of getting a top pitcher

Omar, stop w/ the jap pitchers and vizcaino junk. 4 yrs for these
guys means-get up f/ the table and walk away hombre.

get serious w/ silva and chacon and be done w/this search
already!--of all the guys on the market, these 2 are the only ones
you can even consider giving 4 yrs to.
they're 28&30 y/o and dont have arm probs.

plus in certain scenarios they've produced under pressure.

Not that it isn't inspired, but I doubt SF would consider giving up both pitchers, or even one plus Lowry. The main obstacle.... Beltran's no-trade!!!

Oh and there is one SS that might interest Omar. He is a Cuban defector named Alexei Ramirez. Don't know much about him but other than that you have to look at Eckenscrap. Now if there was some way to save enough prospects to get Chone Figgins then we would be set.
