He is inconsistent as a starter and a reliever. The reason he is a reliever is because if he starts pitching badly they just pull him and put someone else in. As a starter it is much harder to justify taking somebody out in the 2nd or 3rd inning every 3-4 games he pitches. Keep him as a reliever so his value stays where it is. If you have him start for a season it could turn out horribly and leave him with no value at all. And he definitely would not do better than Glavine. No way Heilman can pitch 200 innings. And I highly doubt an ERA that low as well. I was at the game where he threw a 1 hitter. He has great stuff but he can't stay consistent with it for his life. As a reliever he has stretches where he gets bombed and stretches where he dominates. The problem with Heilman is there is no middle ground, he is either lights out or he gets his lights knocked out.
