Stand up and take a bow. You speak the truth. More than any other sport baseballs's draft is most unpredicatable. Much harder than football and basketball and even hockey.

imagine if we had drafted Albert Pujols before the Cardinals had snagged him with a 13th round pick? Imagine if we had drafted Russell Martin before the Dodgers took him in the 17 round? Imagine if we had drafted Matt Holliday before the Rockies took him in the 7th round? And imagine if we had drafted Jake Peavy, Roy Oswalt, and Brandon Webb before the Padres, Astros, and D-Backs had taken them in the 15th, 23rd, and 8th rounds, respectively. We'd have 90% of the National League all-star team! We'd probably win 125 games!

Folks, the draft is a CRAPSHOOT. There was almost nobody outside of the Weaver family who thought the Mets made a bad move by drafting Humber instead of Weaver. There were a lot of questions about how good Weaver actually was, and combined with his signability concerns it made sense for teams to pass on him. And we've lucked out in drafts too: Milledge fell to us for character concerns, and Pelfrey fell to us for signability concerns.

Finally, a point to illustrate how hard to predict the draft is: In 2001, everyone HAMMERED the Twins for not taking Mark Prior, the best college pitcher since Tom Seaver and a virtual lock for Cooperstown, because of signability concerns and instead going with a local high school catcher. 7 years later, would anyone rather have Mark Prior than Joe Mauer?

umm....Humber was one of the top 5 prospects in that draft. And guess what, the Padres, Tigers, Devil Rays, Brewers, Indians, Reds, Orioles, Rockies, Rangers, and Pirates all ALSO could have drafted Jered Weaver, but didn't. Can you please come up with "clever" nicknames about their cheapness too?

LMAO. F-Mart? Please. Maybe we can just wait until Marte's a free agent. I would LOVE him in our pen though. =(

Hawkins is the most inconsistant reliever ever. He really isn't that good, and I don't know what you'd expect of him.

Gagne is constantly injured. Not to mention that he was terrible in Boston.

If they trade F-Mart fro ANYONE I am gone from this debacle. Also, it sound as if whoamar's hands are ties by FreddyTampon during the draft, as if it is a unbreakable system that has produced many world championship caliber players for their sotied franchise..

. If this is the case how can we as fans be upset with whoamar? Maybe we owe him a half-hearted apologetic answer that he offers to fans when they dont win after outspending every NL team..

They have two lefty specialists, but only one guy that has proven to get both lefties and righties out: Aaron Heilman, who is probably going to be a chip in a deal for an ace.

They are looking for guys who get lefties and righties out. A setup man, not a lefty specialist.

Well who the hell wants Podsednik or Wilkerson at this point?

We are entering an age in baseball where you either take big names, prospects, or guys you already have and put them on your team. At this point, not even the worst of teams are going to give Wilkerson or Podsednik MLB deals. Not even the Padres.

PS. Cantu was already in the bench role with Cincinnatti. And the way Castillo played, he won't get a starting role anywhere.

Wilkerson and Podsednik are not going to take anything less than a major league contract. Castillo and Cantu are not going to take a bench role.

While were at it why don't we trade for A-rod to be our bat boy....

Come to think of it, it would be worth every penny of his contract to watch him run out to collect the bats.

Why would the mets be looking for a lefty? They have 3 in the pen already? Unless they are packaging someone away to work out a deal for a an ace.... I can hope...
