The mini-T.O. of baseball. Tons of talent, even more of a mouth. Eventually this guy is going to settle down and be a huge difference maker for someone.
love TO and despise milton bradley…TO at least performs and does it well….milton is a whiner and loses tons of games to injury each year….
Wish we would have given him a look. I guess he’ll be available again in hot stove 2008.
Maybe in Texas he won’t have to worry about having his knee torn up by his own manager. This being said, there is no way that TO would have allowed that to happen to him, for better or worse.
True, TO would have slapped the snot out of Parcells before he ever got close to him.
always loved bradleys name - makes me think of hungry hungry hippo’s lol
Would have been a better option than trading for Ryan Church.
True. Since everybody on here is predicting how many guys will be going down injured, we might as well take somebody who already is.
Carlos Gomez/Fernando Martinez, Aaron Heilman, Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber & Ruben Gotay for Johan Santana/Erik Bedard.
Sign Freddy Garcia to a 2 year $10 Million deal.
Sign Kevin Mench to a 2 year $6 Million deal, if possible.
Sign Scott Podsednik or Brad Wilkerson to a 1 year, $3 Million deal in AAA.
Sign Octavio Dotel to a 2 year, $12 Million deal, if possible.
With the free agents we’re losing, and with Estrada as a free agent after Dec. 12, our team payroll is currently around $80-85 million. If we sign Santana to the Zito deal, the payroll is around what it was last year. So it’ll be OK for Mr. Wilpon.
Your payroll figures are laughably wrong. $80-85mm payroll now??? The starting 8 position players + Pedro & Wagner gets you to that level.
I’m up for packaging Martinez and Gomez in a Johan deal. For all the FMart talk about talent and age: Fernando hasn’t show much in the minors. He was listed in the top 20 by MiLB, but I really don’t get it. We’ve all seen the Alex Ochoa, Butch Huskey, Ryan Thompson, Gregg Jeffries, and others come and go. Lets get Santana in here.
Three other thoughts
I don’t think Gotay is attracting any callers. I really wish the mets would give him a shot. I’ve got a gut feeling about the kid.
I don’t think Podsednik or Wilkerson will take a minor league deal. Those deals are usually reserved for players nearing the end of their careers; Sandy Alamor Jr., Fernando Tatis, and Chan Ho Park.
I like Mench and Garcia as acquisitions.
