Torres might not even show up. Word out of Pittsburgh is that he is mulling retirement. He and his family actually live there year round and he didn't want to leave.

Maybe Gagne was the Brewer insurance on this.

Who knows, but $10M is an awful lot.

and Torres and Mota will probably end up with more saves than Gagne...

It is nice to see a team like the Brewers spending some money, even if it is poorly spent its better than them putting in in their owners pocket like the Marlins...

10 mil...wow...good thing we have billy for 11m...gotta give the brewers credit for actually spending some money for once....they have some good young players....too bad gagne is a risky investment even for 1 year....he has lost his confidence in his changeup and his fastball gets spread around the field like it's BP....rut roh

This deal seems to be overpaying but I thought the Mets should have considered Gagne for a couple of reasons. He would be back in the NL where he dominated. He would be a setup man, not a closer. And it would allow the Mets to put Heilman in a package for a starter without having to rely strictly on Joe Smith, Strictland, Sanchez or the other cast of character the Mets had last year.

From what I was reading, the Brewers intentionally overpaid to get him on a 1 year deal instead of two years. As rotoworld said, if he does good and leaves he brings back 2 draft picks, and if he doesn't do well then Melvin was right to sign him to just a one year deal. It could be alot worse. Short-term deals rarely come back to bite you in the ass.

Gagne's agent just raped the Brewers. 10 mil?? For one season?? For a pitcher with his numbers, I would guess 3 million the most. Maybe an extra million for his name..but that about it.

It's worth a shot at 1 year. Despite his recent struggles, I'm surprised he didn't get a multi-year deal.

Until Gagne proves otherwise, he is an average closer...the Gagne of the Dodgers is worth this kinda money, but the current Gagne is not worth anything close to that...horrible signing for the Brewers if the deal is really for $10M.
