Solid trade for the O’s since Tejada sucks and will be on the Mitchell Report tomorrow.

      Beat me to the punch.

    • 86_revisited says:

Mitchell report doesn’t change anything . . . there’s no way they can suspend the users unless they can prove that they used since MLB banned these substances. Tejada will be a good for for houston with that small park, but he’s a liability defensively.

    • MetsOwnYOUBITCHES says:

Holy sh1t they gave up a lot to get Miggy “B12″ TEJADA

      • napes22 says:

Peter Angelos is an awful owner. He also hires awful GM’s. Trading Tejada last year could have gotten them Oswalt.

  2. ryno says:

The Mets should’ve gotten him to play second instead of giving all that money to Castillo.

That’s a good package, but not one that would knock your socks off. Omar could’ve matched that.

  3. bigchart333 says:

and the fact that it’s FIVE minor leaguers…doesn’t bode well for us trying to get Santana…according to reports yesterday, they wanted 5 or 6 of our minor leaguers…
ps, for the record, i think Gomez, Pelfrey, Humber, Mulvey, and Joe Smith/another pitching prospect would get it done..
we wouldnt “need” young pitchers because we have all relievers in the minors already, AND we have 3 young starters in johan, maine, OP…gotta do that trade…gotta

    • GravediggerHebner says:

it’s 3 minor leaguers and 2 major leaguers, Scott & Albers appeared in a lot of games for the ’stros last season

    • stickguy says:

And 4 of the guys you mentioned for the mets to give up also played in the majors, although Humber saw little action.

You can argue at this point that Smith and Pelfrey are basically major leaguers at this point. Gomez, not so much!

There is a big difference between trading guys with ML experience, that realistically can be slotted into a role on the big club right away, and some young A ball types that may be 3-4 years away, if they make it at all.

The closer to the majors they are, the less you should have to give up.

    • napes22 says:

Quality not Quantity. The O’s management is pretty poor.

  4. marvelousmarv says:

What happens if he’s in the Mitchell report???? I hope he “named names” Blacklisted Episode-Seinfeld.

  5. Ken Dynamo says:

so what happens to adam everret? he is easily the best defensive ss in the game – tho tulowizki may give him a run for his money in the future.

    • points guy says:

      adam everett?

      -100

      • Coolpapabell says:

Everett is a damn good fielder. Points, you gotta give him that at least. He doesn’t have much else, bless his heart.

      • Xavier22 says:

What’s with all these points? When did Metsblog turn into Craigslist?

      • Ken Dynamo says:

i dont get what youre doing. sorry for the spelling mistake? anyway, yeah, whats happens to him? he needs someone to create a designated fielder position because he horrendous at the plate, but im still curious of his plan.

      • napes22 says:

Adam Everett was a 1st round pick by the Red Sox because of his defense. His bat just never panned out like they expected.

Also, these points are getting kinda dumb. Got any other schticks?

  6. Number41 says:

Wow! Some of these GM’s are makin’ deals!
Last winter we sat day after day listening to crap about Zito.
    This year, it’s Santana.
    Result= same old ***

I know they gotta get rid of them, but a Glavine jersey for sale? Jeeesh, have some self respect.

  8. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

so we’ve had a 7 for 2 and a 5 for 1 trade. can omar now realize that this is the market today. dont misjudge the trade market the way you misjudged the reliever FA market last year causing us to miss bradford and take on schoenblow instead. it will sting for a bit but we have a nice draft coming up and we’d be instant WS contenders.

  9. gomets2008 says:

Tejada will get a pass i bet..they will claim he did roids b4 it was banned ….and i think hitting behind pence and b4 lee, berkman….he will produce for the Astros.

    • GravediggerHebner says:

plus Costanzo looks like a potentially good hitter. Looks like old friend Ty Wigginton is out of a job again.

  10. therealsince86 says:

Man and we complain about the Milledge deal. This was just plain dumb. All that and I still don’t see the Astro’s competing this year.

  11. marvelousmarv says:

Looking at his numbers his HRs have dropped of from his Oakland days. However, he still gets the bat on the ball. he’s going to have approximately 2,500 hits by the time he turns 35. In 2006 he had over 200 hits. So even if he may have been juiced before, he knows how to get the bat on the ball and drive in 90+ runs. He’s done so for 7 consecutive years. Last year he would have achieved 90 RBIs if he was healthy.

    • Coolpapabell says:

That porch is mighty short in left and the central is wide open.

    • gomets2008 says:

Why does it seem like every team but us and the Cardinals are improving in the NL….And I feel so bad for the guys being traded to Baltimore…that will just about ruin Xmas for them..lol

      • pezao says:

Just because we haven’t taken the huge step of getting a dominant starter (yet, I hope) doesn’t mean we ain’t got better. Mota’s gone. Get over Milledge, I’d rather have Church or Schneider, and we’ve got both.

Pitchers and Catchers is a way off yet. At least be patient until New Years.

(Santa, can we PLEASE get Johan for Christmas?!?!?)

  12. points guy says:

You don’t necessarily have to be doing roids to be strong. It gets you to a level where you’re strong then, you get off of it, and it you’re still at that level, albeit declining slowly. I think GMs know this, and that’s why they sign roid players anyway.

  13. GravediggerHebner says:

YESSSSSSSSSSSS! said the former back biter about the former back acne sufferer

  14. Les Gomez says:

What about Gomez, Church, Pelfrey, Humber, Mulvey, and Joe Smith to the A’s for Haren and Blanton?

  15. coldentoshea76 says:

Well, I’m all for other NL teams getting weaker, I guess….What an awful deal for the Astros- They’re not going to be seriously competing during the rest of Tejada’s contract, they have no pitching after Oswalt, and they unload their only significant pitching prospects for a declining bat who doesn’t even play a position of particular need for them? I understand that new GMs want to make a splash, but this is ridiculous…

  16. therealsince86 says:

I just don’t see it, their pitching behind Oswalt is bad. Their BP had key pieces leave. Their lineup although aging, has no real leadoff hitter and injury risk all over. I do not see this as anything near positive. If anything they should have used that package to get a starter.

  17. gowrightgo says:

The problem with this deal is that it essentially kills all hope of us getting Bedard. If the O’s got 5 guys for Tejada, who is clearly on the wrong side of his career and is off roids and has declining stats and still overpaid…..what the heck can they expect to get back for a guy who is improving, young, under still a decent contract for 2 years (even arbitration wise it wont get to $12M per yr), etc.

No one gets Bedard now. Not even THE DODGERS or INDIANS or DIAMONDBACKS with thier terrific systems.

  18. STUBZ says:

I remember the talks a few years ago about three way trade w/ the Tejada, Manny and the Mets.

  19. TilMetsDoUsPart says:

Great trade for the O’s. They’ll benefit hugely from Scott and Patton.

  20. Mike Nichols says:

Remember Ed Wade is the new GM in Houston. Wasn’t exactly considered to be a genius in Philly.

  21. gomets2008 says:

why are there so many Donkies on this site……We have done nothing to address our most serious needs….yes the braves lost Jones and his 219 avg…but they have a better rotation then us….the cubs got fukodome…he is better then church..padres will have bay by monday….so stop bein a donkey….pay attention and zip it.

  22. gomets2008 says:

Never said we shoud have signed Fukodome …pay attention donkey!

  23. points guy says:

You girls need a tall glass of stf u

  24. napes22 says:

With a side of who gives a damn

  25. gomets2008 says:

Metsdude get a life …..the guy was simply aking if it was a good deal….why are u such a lil b**ch on this site…..go ride yourself.

  26. Les Gomez says:

So add Guerra and Nick Evans to the deal

  27. GravediggerHebner says:

i hope he didn’t have sardines for lunch

  28. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

i agree they overpaid but i think he should have a decent year hitting towards that short porch in LF.

  29. gomets2008 says:

Its so easy to tell who the guy is that was not loved by his mom and dad enough as a child …poor metsdude…need a hug lil girl??

  30. gomets2008 says:

Metsdude, lol..more like Metsd*uche…Its a free forum as*hat….if you don’t like people pointing out how moronic you are with your ignorant responses to peoples suggetions …you shouldnt be posting here…donkey!

  31. stickguy says:

He is the “points guy”. Must be like cowbell man.

  32. napes22 says:

    I hate Cowbell man.
