Don Burke at the Star-Ledger reports that the Mets have signed C Raul Casanova, C Gustavo Molina and RHP Nate Field to minor-league contracts and invited them to spring training camp.
…not very exciting, but news all the same…i honestly can’t wait for spring training to start…all of these hot stove rumors are starting to drive me crazy…

Gotta love that .286 OPS he put up last year. Even Mike DiFelice has never been that bad, and he once hit a combined .104 over a three year period.
Casanova is not a bad pick up. I watched him here in Tampa and was surprised when the Rays let him go. He could be a Castro type back-up, not a bad idea to keep him in AAA in case someone goes down

I remember reading an article about the Molinas and the dad was saying there were 4, maybe he is the 4th. the dad also said the one in St. Louis, who is dead to me, btw, is going to be the best of them all. Pretty irrelevant, sorry.

Out of some of the bullpen guys Matt posted earlier that were non-tendered .. I think Kiko Calero and Ryan Wagner head that list. I wouldn’t mind taking a look into them if I were Omar. Middle relievers are so unpredictable from year to year that the best way to make a pen is to evaluate purely on their “stuff” rather than just numbers. The more bullpen guys brought into camp to access, the better.
I agree 100%. Ryan Wagner was a first round draft pick 4 years ago! I’d give both of them a shot. Why not?

I concur with the original post…enough with these hot stove rumors (especially from ESPN, they are the worst)…..and wacko deals that are one sided that I see hear and hear on the FAN.
