News: Lo Duca and Hundley in Mitchell Report
By Matthew Cerrone - Dec 13, 2007 2:23 pm

Lenny Dykstra, Todd Hundley, Mark Carreon, Matt Franco, Todd Pratt, Mo Vaughn, Mike Stanton, Scott Schoeneweis and Paul Lo Duca, among others, are all mentioned in The Mitchell Report, which you can download at SNY.

In the section dealing with players who had been in contact with Kirk Randomski, the Report reads…

“Radomski has known Hundley since 1988, when Radomski worked for the Mets and Hundley played in the Mets’ minor league system.  Radomski stated that, beginning in 1996, he sold Deca-Durabolin and testosterone to Hundley on three or four occasions.  At the beginning of that year, Radomski told Hundley that if he used steroids, he would hit 40 home runs.  Hundley hit 41 home runs in 1996, having never hit more than 16 in any prior year…

“In order to provide Hundley with information about these allegations and to give him an opportunity to respond, I asked him to meet with me; he declined.

“Todd Hundley referred Lo Duca to Radomski when Lo Duca played for the Dodgers.  Radomski estimated that he engaged in six or more transactions with Lo Duca.  In some transactions, Radomski sent the performance enhancing substances by overnight mail to Lo Duca’s home or to the Dodgers clubhouse and Lo Duca sent Radomski a check a week or so later.

“Radomski produced copies of three checks from Lo Duca, each in the amount of $3,200. All are included in the Appendix. Radomski said that each check was in payment for two kits of human growth hormone.  Lo Duca’s name, with an address and telephone number, is listed in the address book seized from Radomski’s residence by federal agents.  In order to provide Lo Duca with information about these allegations and to give him an opportunity to respond, I asked him to meet with me; he declined.”

Other noteworthy names who are mentioned include Brian Roberts, Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens, Chuck Knoblauch, Barry Bonds, Miguel Tejada, and Kevin Brown.

Anyone think that the Mets had advanced notice on Lo Duca’s inclusion on this report and that’s why they went SO cold on him during the off-season? I’m guessing it played a good part in this

    • MacD81 says:

      Wouldn’t suprise me.

      • nyjim says:

        I agree

        • ridethesnake says:

          Hop on Minaya

        • landyg21 says:

Where are the people who were complaining that Omar should of signed LoDuca. LoDuca is all over this, report. Young girls, gambling, and steroids. He picked a bad year to get off the juice last year.

        • MetsieFan84 says:

I’m sure there is one Lo Duca fan here … All that Firey, passionate leadership qualities were nothing more than the roids’ speaking for him.

The Washington Nationals will enjoy their new version of Brian Schneider when Lo Duca cannot hit the ball out of the infield minus the defense.

        • landyg21 says:

We can play an outfield shift for LoDuca, we’ll have 7 infielders, lol. Reyes will steal 6 bases in one game against the Nationals this year. I just want to know who tipped the Mets off on him.

      • Mr.Spock says:

        it makes sense….

        • gipper913 says:

Most interesting part is how Dodgers FO knew about Dookie juicing:

Page 209-10 of report has internal notes of Dodgers front office people talking about Dookie:

“Steroids aren’t being used anymore on him. Big part of this. May have some trade value. Florida may have interest…..Got off steroids….Took away a lot of hard line drives…can get comparable value back, would consider trading… If you do trade him, will get back on the stuff and try to show you he can have a good year. That’s his makeup. Comes to play. Last year of contract, playing for 05″

        • domosnacks5 says:

agreed. also take a look at Epstein and his scout talking about Gagne. The two most intriguing parts of the report I’ve read yet. Mitchell was right, these clubs really DID know about it, they clearly just turned their heads to it.

        • gipper913 says:

Agreed….I just read the Theo part. Fascinating.

    • Charlie says:

      absolutely!

    • Ric says:

Note to Paulie Ducks….next time pay for your drugs with cash. Harder to trace

    • Reyes es el Rey says:

Yea, but use of steroids usually means Omar will give you a 2-year contract.

  2. MetsieFan84 says:

Is he still the outspoken and passionate hero?

  3. beltransmole says:

Say it ain’t so Paul…Say it ain’t So!

  4. ExileInLA says:

Read the notes from the Dodgers’ organizational meeting on LoDuca (page 209 of the report):

Steroids aren’t being used anymore on him. Big part of this. Might have some value to trade…Florida might have interest. … Got off the steroids…took away a lot of hard line drives. … Can get comparable value back would consider trading. … If you do trade him, will get back on the stuff and try to show you he can have a good year.

WOW. But by 2007, with the new policy, he couldn’t risk the ‘roids – so we had his year last year. Buh-bye, Paulie. Go hit on 19 year old DC women.

  5. tfc3rid says:

Mike and the Dog are downplaying it… As far they are oncerned after Pettitte and Clemens, there is nothing here…

  6. zen says:

i guess what lo duca meant by the rest of the team not caring about winning enough (wfan) last was their unwillingness to go to any lengths, any lemgths to win

no hall of fame for clemens. no way.

as i wrote earlier. now i undestand the 1989 dykstra trade. was my favorite player at the time. only now it makes sense having read that section of the report today

    • jdon says:

he has had no HR power for several years. His grounders this year were pathetic. he must have hit 50 “dribblers” this year. what a joke. the synthetic man.

  7. stickguy says:

Can’t wait to see how he tries to spin himself out of this one!

Wasn’t it said erlier that teams were given advance word on the FA pool? If so, the mets knew about him.

Some industrious blogger should do a chart listing when they were getting the stuff, and their power output in those years. I bet there will be a strong correlation (like Hundley jumping to 41 HRs in one year).

Also nice to see a bunch of current Yanks (what, about 20% of their team?)

And also a couple of dead guys. Gee, wonder if that is connected too?

  8. murpheeee says:

Bet he’s glad he signed on the dotted line yesterday for his $5M

    • MetsieFan84 says:

How true that is, he had a rough enough time finding a team that is willing to give him more than 1 year.

  9. TenTonHammer says:

Lo Duca got busted HARD. He’s all over the report with a few other Dodgers like Mota and Gagne.

And it’s concrete. They even have copies of checks and memos to his supplier.

    • Achilles400 says:

The interesting thing was the memo of how Duke stopped hitting the ball hard when he came offf and he would likely go back on after being traded to “show them”. Just the way he is! Nice.

    • napes22 says:

Is anyone really suprised about Paulie? Anyone who watches baseball would figure that his 25 Homeruns in 2001 was not normal. If you want to hate him for it; go ahead, but don’t act so suprised.

  10. franco45 says:

Cerrone, how do you say no current Mets are on the report? What about Shoenweis?

  11. FBones24 says:

    Was Bonds on this list????

I guess Paulie isn’t getting into the hall of fame now.

  12. CaseStreet says:

    No Castro!

  13. Achilles400 says:

What a boondoggle. 20M for that report? It reads drier than my Law Reveiew Article on the 4th Amendment and drug testing Union Employees (I can get a copy of that to you if you like!).

The LoDuca stuff is great though. This report does reinforce one old adage, Thou dost protest too much. All the guys who were so adamantly against it have used.

Funniest thing was quoting Jeff Kent, the voice of reason!

  14. cver says:

Dump Show. I thought there weren’t any current Mets in the report? Or was it a lack of evidence or what?

    • darkstar73 says:

that was a rumor Matt heard earlier, can you people stop holding every word Matt writes as absolute truth? And that list from before was not the real list.

  15. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

does anyone know if theres a way to just get a list of names, kinda like that false list made earlier. im sick of scrolling through 409 pages to find guys names. btw it seems to me the entire 2000 yankees were on roids (knoblauch, clemens, pettite, justice, neagle, stanton) go figure our only win came against the only starter they had no listed in this report (el duque).

  16. M&MD are absolutely downplaying this. I’m sure if Piazza was on that list, they’d never shut up about it> Hypocrites.

  17. Jim says:

Nook Logan of the Nationals is named on this report…..He may want to ask for his money back, I think they sold him Placebos.

  18. NY Cuban says:

LoDuca referred Gagne and Kevin Brown to Radomski. Wow!

  19. No_Brain_Willie says:

at least this fan site can stop glorifying that scum bag lo duca. good riddance, poor player, cheat

    • NY Cuban says:

It would only have been a matter of time before he got David hooked.

    • 1-18-31-7 says:

haha. clemens and loduca named. no piazza. today is a good day.

      • jdon says:

so you really belie ve that piazza is innocent? just because he did not make this report? how about all that weight he lost doing “yoga?” Yeah, right.

        • Mr.Spock says:

          Steroids Yoga……

        • cyclone says:

The Mitchell Report shall set you free….

        • 1-18-31-7 says:

did i say piazza didnt do steroids?

          i said he wasnt “named”.

there isnt a player in baseball i could say didnt do steroids. but this list is going to be something that will stick with these players for a long long time and i am glad piazza is not listed. and even more happy that clemens and loduca were.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

piazzas name has never showed up in any reports or rumors or anything. and 2 things, 1) after seeing him do a split at first base i completely believe he does yoga, and 2) when has mike piazzas body type ever changed since being in the majors, not counting his endless amount of designed facial hair.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

not to mention his numbers were very consistent his whole career until he got OLD and they went down.

        • jamie says:

          right on, htwz

        • JavaJoe says:

No one’s a bigger Piazza fan than me but injuries tell you something.

Piazza tore the tendons from the bone trying to back away from an inside pitch. Muscle tissue should tear. Your tendons don’t tear away from the bone like that. Unless your muscles are pretty strong.

          Garciaparra had a similar injury.

That gives me reasonable doubt that Piazza was clean. Although its not concrete proof.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

but garciaparra wasnt on any list either, he was on the fake list that means nothing.

    • tfc3rid says:

      At this point, I agree…

      I defended LoDuca but reading this, he’s a scumbag…

    • napes22 says:

Oh stop it. He cheated on the Dodgers. We don’t know what he did elsewhere. But don’t act all suprised and offended. The guy put up 25 hr’s in 2001, and his max any other year was 10 (which was also probably a juiced year).

  20. SheaHeyKid24 says:

wonder if matt still is sad that loduca was allowed to move on!

  21. Ken Dynamo says:

if its just HGH, who cares, that stuff probably does even increase athletic performance.

    http://www.sabernomics.com/sabernomics/index.php/2007/04/i-dont-worry-about-hgh-in-baseball-and-neither-should-you

also, whats shocking about this? lo duca is a scumbag. we didnt know this? steroids dont make me respect lo duca any less. what a piece of garbage.

  22. gmoney45 says:

Hooray for the clean Brian Schneider! Hitting 235 cleanly in our eight hole next year. Very Nice!

  23. cyclone says:

No Paulie, NO! He’s ruined his Hall of Fame chances!!!

  24. fasteddiehearn says:

any mention of suzyn waldman on the juice after her announcement of clemens’ return?

amazing that teams like the brewcrew/nats would make huge financial commitments to gagne/loduca before the mitchell report, makes omar look pretty darn good about now.

  25. TenTonHammer says:

Lo Duca will juice just to show us he can still play in Washington, you’ll see.

    • jstocks5 says:

does anyone know id they get punished.. if so how severe?

    • metsman69 says:

Yeah, and the first HR he hits next year, fans will be throwing fake syringes on the field.

      LO-JUICE-AHHH

    • jdon says:

That is because LoPuca is aphony and a turd. it’s not like i haven’t said it before. And sayling”oh well these guys are battling to stay in the majors or to make better money” is a specious argument. they were battling against guys who played it straight. they should be punished. there are a lot of guys pumping gas out there who deserved a better shot.

  26. MealTicket says:

What a whining, self-pitying meathead is Paul LoDuca. Those 2001 stats looked pretty suspicious to me.

I hope the Mets destroy him every time we play the Nats.

  27. nagel100 says:

    Clemens is the big fish.

he is having a very bad day.

    I’m happy about that.

    wonder if Mikey is?

    • jamie says:

I have a friend who denied up and down that Roger was a user, because “he and pettite are so close, and there’s no way Andy’d do it”. HA. this won’t keep Clemens out of the Hall, but I hope they asterisk whatever hat he wears a la Barry’s HR ball.

  28. gameball says:

Surprised Rey O is not on the list. he bulked up winter ‘99 and came to camp in 2000 with about 15 pounds of new muscle on him, for all the good it did him.

    • dave27 says:

Rey-O was too stupid to do it in a way that might actually help things like recovery or vision – he went the old meathead hit the gym route I guess.

  29. gomets6091 says:

where are all the people hammering Omar for not bringing back Lo Duca now? He obviously knew this was coming, it’s the only explanation for pursuing two .230 hitters instead of a .275 hitter.

  30. dontstopbelieving says:

Bonds is in the report – there is a whole section on BALCO.

  31. gomets6091 says:

oh crap! Josias Manzanillo! I got his autograph at the Diamond Club when I was like 8. Now it’s not gonna be worth any money :(

  32. cver says:

Besides Matt Franco, what ex-Braves or current ones are on the list?

  33. gomets6091 says:

by the way, is anyone else gonna look at Todd Pratt’s walk-off homer against Arizona that just BARELY got over the wall a little differently now?

  34. The Second Spitter says:

How is Clemens a suprise? He’s the epitome of Roid Rage. Anyone remember 2000 when he threw at Piazza, both a ball and a bat, all because Piazza OWNED him?

C’mon… Thank God he was on the report. Now, all Yankee fans can shut up. I hope he goes into Cooperstown with a Yankee cap on and a needle in his ass.

So sad that he got his boyfriend Pettite hooked. Those damn abusive relationships, poor little good boy Andy being peer pressured into drugs by big bad Roger.

    • zen says:

remember when the mets lost the 2000 world series to a yankees team that had tons of steroid users including most of the rotation and some bullpen guys

      • anditsouttahere says:

well if players shoudlnt be able to go to the hall of fame for using roids, perhaps the yankee organization should be forced to take down sum of those TWENTY SIX banners we always hear about.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

so bobby valentine had an OF of benny jay and timo and torre had a roster full of roided up juice heads. i cant believe we even won 1 game that series. thank god el duque wasnt listed.

    • zen says:

“According to McNamee, during the middle of the 2000 season Clemens made it clear that he was ready to use steroids again. During the latter part of the regular season, McNamee injected Clemens in the buttocks four to six times with testosterone from a bottle labeled either Sustanon 250 or Deca-Durabolin that McNamee had obtained from Radomski.”

      2000 world series against mets:

      1-0 8ip 2h 0r 0bb 9k’s

    • jdon says:

how does Andy “Jesus Boy” reconcile this cheating thing?

    • Mr.Spock says:

No Pujols…… i wanted him on that list…..

    • gomets2008 says:

Well from the looks of some of these bums on here…certain steroids can have a reverse effect and make u suck even more @ playing the game.

    • SheaVendor says:

      Grimsley is listed twice??

    • Slob says:

You know what I find to be quite odd. How many of the players on this list are the sons of former major leaguers?

Bonds, Segui, Hundley, Carreon, Grimsley, McKay, Hairston, Matthews, Bell.

I don’t know what this means but it is kind of weird.

  37. pbelli01 says:

Showenweis is in the report, but only as an “alleged” user. THe same story that came out last year. The actual guys he lists in the report have checks signed and dated to prove they bought steroids from Radomski. Mitchell only included Show, as well as others, such as glaus, rocker, ankiel, etc as “alleged” users.

So this report tells us nothing new about show, as well as provides no further proof. He most likely stil did them, but just saying how his name appears.

  38. IceMet says:

This news should be very disappointing for Todd Hundley to over-hear on a customer’s car radio while pumping their gas.

    • domosnacks5 says:

you say that, but you know what’s sad? I wikipedia’d him last nigh to see IF he had been brought up yet in anything because my and my buddy were playing the “mitchell game”, where we each took 3 guys never mentioned and predicted them to be in it.

Hundley was my choice, and what’s sad is he made 46 million dollars throughout his playing career. Still think he’s pumping gas?

      • IceMet says:

Believe it or not, I dont actually think he’s pumping gas and he’s probably pretty well to do. But, Hundley is the furtherest thing from relevancy in the baseball world, and it probably should be that way.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

yea bc athletes that make alot of money always make wise financial decisions, i cant think of anyone thats ever made us wonder “where did all his money go?”

  39. dave27 says:

What really strikes me is how for months – years even, the Mets have been unfairly tied to this because of Radomsky because no one ever mentions his steroids involvement began AFTER he left the Mets.

With scant few Mets from any era on this list, hopefully we can finally correct this.

Kind of a random thought, but maybe people will get off the back of guys like Gooden and Straw a bit – they were self-destructors, not cheaters. Imagine if Doc had taken to steroids after his injuries in 93-94 instead of relapsing into coke out of the depression and restlessness of not playing?

  40. MealTicket says:

I would argue that the “biggest” name on the list was not Roger Clemens but Paul LoDuca. Why? Becuase if you read the report, LoDuca was pushing roid on everyone he met: Kevin Brown, Gagne, you name it. He’s everywhere in the report. he’s the biggest scumbag of all.

    Holy cow…

    • TilMetsDoUsPart says:

Yeah, but imagine what that does for Paul!

Now he’s going to have HBO specials, movies, etc.

Because of this he’ll make more money than freaking A-rod!

    • stickguy says:

But, But, he has fire and grit!

Oh wait, that was just Roid rage.

      never mind.

  41. TilMetsDoUsPart says:

No key players from the Mets. Good.

  42. TilMetsDoUsPart says:

It came as a small shock that Lo Duca was on the list. I have no respect for him now.

  43. tfc3rid says:

I think that a lot of folks like McGwire/Sosa/Brady Anderson are not here because the evidence against them did not meet the threshold set by the committee…

  44. Achilles400 says:

Fernando Vina and FP Santangelo, two TV personalities, wonder what they will say next time they are on. This is a perfect excuse for EXPN to kick that numbskull Vina to the curb.

  45. BiggieSmalls says:

    i guess that explains paulie’s 320/25/90 year in 2001.

hasta la vista baby… cant wait to hear him spin this.

    • napes22 says:

Wait, you needed an explanation on that season? I’m pretty sure it was fairly obvious where the power came from.

  46. FBones24 says:

It’s also funny how many guys on this list STINK!

    • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

but you gotta figure these guys thought if they dont do the roids theyre out of a job i mean for them it was more of a way to keep getting pay checks.

  47. cousinrk says:

How great would that have been if Vina was in studio to discuss the report and then they see his name. Sooooo Fernando, any thoughts??

  48. cousinrk says:

Yeah what a bunch of scrubs. It definately shows you need to have some talent to play because there are so many dogs on this list. Imagine how bad would Tim Laker be if he didn’t use steroids?? Damn

  49. supermannino says:

Dude, remember Chris Donnels? Didn’t he have a mullet? I remember that guy.

    A lot of former Mets…

  50. Jay says:

    World Series 2000

    So let’s see…

game 1 Pettitte (steroid user) vs Al leiter. Winner was… Stanton (steroid user)

game 2 Clemens (steroids) vs Mike Hampton. Clemens wins.

game 3 Rick Reed vs Orland Hernandez. Franco wins.

game 4 Denny Neagle (steroids) vs Bobby Jones. Nelson wins.

game 5 Pettitte (steroids) vs Al Leiter. Stanton wins (steroids).

    I’m calling shenanigans!!!!!

    • gomets2008 says:

I definitely agree …I cannot wait to get out of work and talk shizzle to all my Yankee as*hat friends…..they CHEATED & stole our title PERIOD!!!!

    • ChiliGTC says:

you forgot to put in parenthesis next to Al Leiter name the following: (amphetamin abuser).

    • dave27 says:

Yeah, but the 2000 Mets had Todd Pratt, who actually played in Game 1. So it’s even, right?

The Yankees, in addition to the aforementioned pitcheres above, only had David Justice (the key to their whole 2000 playoff run), Knoblauch, Hill, Canseco, Grimsley…that’s only 9 of 25! Barely one-third of the roster! What’s the big deal?!

  51. mets4ever says:

Hey Selig, you like putting asterisks next to Bonds’ records, how about some for the 3 Cy Young’s Clemens won on the juice and that World Series victory over the Mets in 2000 when my team had to face a drugged up Clemens and Pettite! Guess thats the only way the Yankee’s can win:CHEATING!

  52. zen says:

    march 26, 2007

“I’ve come out and said I apologized for what I did,” Mota said. “I want people to forgive me and I’m sorry about it.”

“The fact that Mota admitted his wrongdoing and apologized seemed to go a long way with his teammates. Paul Lo Duca, who acknowledged that he is a close friend of Mota’s, was among his biggest supporters”

“You name me one profession where there ain’t something — where everything is hunky dory and cushy and I’ll give you a zillion dollars,” Lo Duca said. ” It’s over with. There’s nothing we can do about it. Guys have taken it, guys have admitted to it, guys haven’t admitted to it. You’re innocent until you’re proven guilty and you go on with life. You go on with it. There’s guys in jail that probably didn’t commit crimes. There’s also guys on the street who’ve committed crimes. Life ain’t perfect. Deal with it.”

Well, you’ve been proven guilty now Paulie — in the Mitchell report and in public opinion.

I like Paulie but he’s a cheater along with Mota. I hope one of the reasons Omar didn’t want to bring him back is because of the past steroids use. The Mets organization needs to keep a clean image on this because of the way they’ve been unfairly indicted merely due to the fact that Radomski once worked for them.

  53. and the Clemens Spin has now begun….

  54. nychurch111 says:

    what, no luis gonzalez?

it was obvious lo duca was juicing. how do you go 25 in a season, to barely getting the ball out of the infield?

    steroid use 101 young grasshoppers

  55. landyg21 says:

200 million dollar team and a bunch of steroid users. Isn’t the talent enough, lol.

  56. domosnacks5 says:

From just a fan of baseball, does anyone think that Pettitte and Clemens might not have gotten a fair shake here? It’s literally pretty much a list of nobodys except for a handful of guys, and then 2 of the Yankees’ most elite pitchers in the past decade. The guy works for the Sox, maybe this was sort of a witch hunt?

I just don’t get how you can’t get anymore names than 2 of the best players on your arch-rivals team. They were the only 2 players that really came out of nowhere. We pretty much knew every other player listed on this.

You’re trying to tell me that if you can find Pettitte and Clemens, you can’t find any other multi-year All Stars from 95 on that we didn’t already know about? C’mon man, just seems fishy to me.

  57. FBones24 says:

Yeah…Mike and the Mad Dog have begun sticking up for Clemens. If that was Piazza on that list they would be killllling him!

  58. Joebaby says:

This Mitchell Report is a stupid joke. It’s 7 years too late and it’s culled from only 2 sources. The day they come up with a list of the 50 ballers who WEREN’T roiding is the day I’ll think it has merit. I’ll say that it has no impact on anyone’s Hall of Fame portfolio, except for Bonds.

If this report doesn’t say that Bud Selig and the owners pussied out on this for a decade, then it’s a crock.

“I was inadevertently given some good jockitch-relief man-aroma cream, and I had no idea it was spiked with the roid and that’s why my head grew to a watermelon. I am sorry if I offended my fans. It were not my fault.”

  59. TheMonstersOutOfTheCage says:

Clemens got it stuck in his ass Ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!

  60. yeah mike just said there is no paper trail linking clemes nor is there a failed drug test…..

    • FBones24 says:

If they are going to start sticking up for Clemens, I’m going to start sticking up for LoDuca. He is a fiery guy and he loves to win. He is a competitor and he will do anything in his power to win, including taking drugs and forcing them upon his teamates!!! Yeah…ya gotta love that fire. You could learn something for LoDuca Isaiah. Lets get the knicks on juice.

    • dave27 says:

Great point by Francesa. Like Clemens, I also do not have any failed drug tests. And like me, Clemens was never tested (at least not when it mattered).

    • cyclone says:

Not really, all I cared about Pratts career was that one game he won…one of the best days in Mets history…lol

    • cyclone says:

Where’s McGwire’s failed drug test? or Bonds? Come on, Fat Boy, don’t be a hypocrite just cuz your guys got busted.

  61. metsfansberealistic says:

    okay

so now like Ben Johnson the sprinter before

    & Marion Jones today

should MLB revoke the Yankees 2000 World Series victory?

    LOL

take em off the trophy I say

    • dave27 says:

I repeat…9 of the 25 men on the Yankees 2000 WS roster are on this list.

      Clemens
      Pettitte
      Neagle
      Stanton
      Grimsley
      Justice
      Knoblacuh
      Canseco
      Hill

You know, just saying. find me another WS winner (besides the 98 or 99 Yankees) with more than 2-3.

All those Yankees fans who wanted Bonds’s record asterisked? Speak up ladies and gents.

    • MetsieFan84 says:

Give it to the Mets by default!

      • points guy says:

I wouldn’t take it. Let that year stand blank. It will make the Skanks look even worse.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

i dont want it, ill take the NL championship then strip them of teh AL and WS title leaving us as teh only “championship” team from that year with no WS title awarded.

  62. Steve.P says:

I am the only one that finds the media apologists for these cheaters revolting?

Some lawyer jackass is on ESPN moaning about ‘privacy’ and M&MD are doing their thing to cover Clemens’ ass.

I remembered thinking that some TV sports people were rather lenient of Vick, and I’m sure the talking heads will follow the same course.

    Disgusting.

    • metsfansberealistic says:

ESPN radio has been the worst

      is there payola involved?

and Krusty & Sideshow Bob (Mike & the Rabid Poodle) should apologize for all the eventually illegal ‘vitamin supplement’ advertisements they used to run

what kind of example did that set for the hundreds of thousands of kids Mitchell mentioned?

not to mention their support for Sid Rosenberg

      another shining example

    • STUBZ says:

How can you compare this to anything Michael Vick did. Vick never did anything as bad as this.
Can we make every name in a post bold or none at all?

      • Steve.P says:

Actually, given the circumstances, what Michael Vick did was much worse. Like someone else above pointed out, most were doing it, which in a sick way levels the playing field.

I’m just pointing out that the media’s (to be fair, ESPN and M&MD) first reaction is to vouch for these people and play down their offenses.

It’s all part of the way in which we put athletes up on a pedestal, as ‘role models’ for the ‘kids’.

I never learned anything from an athlete in a major sport, and I don’t draw any moral guidance from the examples.

That’s what mom & pop are for.

      • jamie says:

he broke federal law, didn’t he? That’s technically what these guys did.

      • Mr.Spock says:

Since when doing steroids is worse than fighting, torturing and KILLING dogs????? What Michael Vick did does not compare at all to the steroid issue….

        • Steve.P says:

          Thank you, sir.

        • points guy says:

There’s a huge difference between abusing humans and abusing animals. Go ki11 your neighbor’s dog then his son, see if you pay the same price.

        • points guy says:

btw, the above is not my opinion, it’s just the way the law views things.

        • gipper913 says:

Yes, but this was self-induced human abuse. Abuse of other humans would be worse than of dogs. But, abusing yourself vs abusing dogs? Closer call. Especially when the self-abuse was ofr a benefit / to cheat.

        • 1-18-31-7 says:

this report isnt just about individual players taking steroids. its also about the mass distribution of them, so saying it doesnt compare to a dog fighting ring isnt entirely true.

    • Joebaby says:

The media have been apologists for the Bush administration for years. There’s no surprise here at all.

      • tonylett says:

Yeah, they’ve really been soft on him over the years!
        those damn right-wing conserveative,neo-con lackies
        over at cnn,msnbc,cbs,nbc,abc,nytimes,latimes,etc,etc.

  63. MetsieFan84 says:

I guess the game of “pass the needle” was quite popular back in the dynasty days.

  64. The Second Spitter says:

Looks like our former Clubhouse guy Kirk Randomski was a big Yankee fan. The Mets Human Resource department really needs to step it up.

  65. randytate says:

December 13, 2007: The day that Tom Seaver regained the title as the greatest right handed pitcher of all time.

  66. cousinrk says:

Steroids is all Omars fault and Freddie Coupons as well. I don’t know how but that doesn’t matter. They are guilty

  67. firemetmanagement says:

Boy they wacked Clemens even better than I could have ever imagined/hoped for. I was kind of disappointed that some other big names/obvious steroid users like Pujols and David Ortiz weren’t on there..but they did get big fat Mo Vaughn (should have juiced up more- cause he sucked for the Mets)…But basically they might as well just rename the Mitchell report to the “Clemens Report” with the accounts of his trainer injecting cattle steroids into his buttocks in Clemens’ apartment 4 times per week, from 1998 on. So he has been marred worse than anybody, and that is fantastic. Obviously he was roided up when he hit Piazza in the head. I want Game 2 of the World Series back.

Bye bye Hall of Fame you assh*le!

You and your buddy Pettitte can start running for cover now. I’m sure we are going to hear from them that they bought the steroids/HGH for “their next door neighbors” or something like that.

I mean the whole world already knew that Clemens was roided up like a 2,000 lb cattle- but justice has been officially served to this assh*le with him being thrown under the bus worse than anybody. He and Bonds are now the 2 poster children for the steroid era.

    • Steinhardt says:

I must say..for once I pretty much agree with you..although I didn’t really want to see David Ortiz on this list..I actually think he’s a pretty cool guy…I put him in the same class as David Wright..both very classy hard working individuals

      • points guy says:

Am I the only one who thinks that the writers are going to vote Clemens in?

Am I crazy? The media loves this guy.

        • Hit The Weights Zeile says:

youre not crazy there will be literally a handful of writers with the marbles to say no on his first attempt but in 5 or so years everyone will say “mitchell report? oh who cares we love rodga”

        • points guy says:

thanks zeile. i knew i wasn’t crazy. there are plenty of ‘tards to excuse clemens and get him in.

        • jamie says:

absolutely, I’d bet anything you want he gets in the Hall. What I really want to hear is all the people–talking heads, fans, everyone- who condemned Bonds do the same to Clemens. This will be somewhat of a litmus test to see whether those who cry racism over Bonds have any merit (or how much merit) to their argument.

        • kevin2elster21 says:

ok let me play devil’s advocate.

The only difference between Bonds and Clemens is that Bonds was hated by virtually everyone. Clemens, to some degree, was liked by his teammates.

  68. metsfansberealistic says:

nice job by the Yankees rewarding this prick with an 8 figure contract last year in return for Jack

way to say we support assh*les and we’ll do anything to win

nice message to your younger fans

this report takes back the 2000 Series victory

    what a shame

    • gomets6091 says:

let’s be realistic here: It wasn’t for Jack. All of America got to enjoy the greatest 3 minutes of unintentional comedy broadcasting the world has ever seen. I’d say that was DEFINITELY worth Steinbrenner’s 8

  69. tonylett says:

the fact that so many of these guys left a paper trail points to
the arrogance and spoiled nature of who they are.
The late great sports writer for the la times jim miller, wrote on
many occasions that, having know Darryl Strawberry since he
was a boy that the single thing that lead to most of his problems
was that since about 10 years old, no one ever said NO to him.

these guys are so insulated, like politicians, they have very little
    understanding of real life.
Has anyone ever bought a dime bag w/ a check? WTF,
    pretty stupid!

  70. jothar says:

Of course, this is only a partial list, since many people weren’t talking. it could be a future iteration will feature Piazza.

I would give Josias Manzanillo a pass- he’s been working with half the testosterone of normal people to begin with since that horrible accident years ago.

  71. TilMetsDoUsPart says:

I definitely think that Radomsky tipped the Mets off about Schoeneweis and Lo Duca.

They were looking into getting a lefty guy for the bullpen, likely for a setup role.

They showed no interest in Lo Duca whatsoever.

Once again, hat tip to Omar for not disclosing that he had been tipped off. Now the Nats have Schneider minus the pitch calling and glove.

    • dave27 says:

Huh? Do people realize Radomski has had no connection with the Mets for a dozen years?

Unless he told Charlie Samuels, I highly doubt it.

LoDuca is gone for alot of reasons, and every team is always looking for lefty releivers at all times.

This is the team that signed a mid-suspension Guillermo Mota 2-year deal, so why are they shying away from LoDuca – who can’t be suspended without a failed test – if there are no other reasons?

      • MealTicket says:

If the evidence in the Mitchell Report is to be believed, LoDuca has emerged as the pre-eminent steroids pusher in MLB. I’d think that he’d draw the worst punishment the commissioner hands out in the wake of the report.

        He certainly deserves it.

Mota admitted to using steroids, but as far as I know, he wasn’t a pusher.

  72. Steve.P says:

Ironic that a Mets employee sold anabolic steroids to the Yankees, who then went on to beat the Mets in 2000.

  73. Chris Jelic says:

I would just like to point out that Carlos Beltran hit 41 HR in a season for the Mets – clean. In addition to tainted MLB records, there are tainted team records, and I don’t want Hundley’s Brady Anderson season tainting the Mets record books.

On another note, how the heck is Brady Anderson not part of this report?

    • dave27 says:

Hundley’s 96 season was also the all-time NL record for switch hitters – I believe Javy Lopez (who I am surprised is not here) brok it. And of course beltran tied that one at the same time anyway.

Then again there have to be hundreds more players who were getting steroids from sources Mitchell never found. So this will never be exaustive.

  74. cousinrk says:

You don’t think these are the only people who did steroids? The reason Brady isn’t on it is because he got away with it somehow. He didn’t leave a paper trail, who knows

  75. guyek says:

Instead of just using this information for negative purposes like putting asterisks next to the players who cheated, it would be great if they tried to find some positive in it, by going back and rewarding those who played fair and suffered by comparison.

For instance 1996 when Caminiti obviously got his MVP through steroids… why not retroactively award an MVP to that year’s runner up… Mike Piazza.

    • kevin2elster21 says:

it just cheapens the whole thing, that’s why steroid-abuse/cheating has so many indirect ramifications.

The best thing to do is just move on. We can leave everything alone, just don’t celebrate anything.

Let’s just hope some clean players break the old tainted records.

    • supermannino says:

I think that’s a good idea. And, if other people turn out to be frauds, fine! Let’s just keep rewriting history until we reward those who were not cheaters. (That sounds like I’m being sarcastic, but I’m not.)

  76. supermannino says:

Do you think Kevin Elster was juiced?

  77. gipper913 says:

Okay, a nice day when the Yankees / Junkees get slapped down and their 2000 “world champion”* team is forever tainted.

Now….let’s get Johan and make it a truly Merry Xmas.

  78. supermannino says:

Following the line of thinking of placing an asterisk next to all awards received by the juicers in the Mitchell report, these guys would be the runner-up recipients of the asteriskized awards:

    2004 NL MVP Beltre
    2003 NL MVP Pujols
    2002 NL MVP Pujols
    2002 AL MVP A-Rod
2001 NL MVP Sosa (yeah…snicker, snicker)
    2000 AL MVP Big Hurt
    1998 AL MVP Nomar
    1996 NL MVP Piazza
    1996 AL MVP A-Rod
    1995 AL MVP Belle
1993 NL MVP McGriff (after Bonds, Dykstra, and Justice)
    1992 NL MVP Pendleton
    1990 NL MVP Bonilla
    1988 AL MVP Greenwell
    1986 AL MVP Mattingly

    2004 NL CY Big Unit
    2003 NL CY Schmidt
    2001 AL CY Mulder
    1998 AL CY Pedro
    1997 AL CY Big Unit
    1991 AL CY Erickson
    1987 AL CY Key
    1986 AL CY Higuera

    1991 AL ROY Juan Guzman
    1990 NL ROY DeShields
    1987 NL ROY Mike Dunne
1986 AL ROY Mark Eichhorn (Joyner is mentioned too)

    • GravediggerHebner says:

I was living up in Boston in ‘88 and alot of my friends there really wanted Greenie to win MVP. I’m gonna cut and paste your post and email it to my old buddies, it’ll warm their hearts. Thanks for the research.

  79. napes22 says:

    Pujols wasn’t named; was he?

  80. pezao says:

A search for Pujols yielded no results. He ain’t there.

  81. Mister Koo says:

Yeah, you’re probably looking at the first list (which had Castro on it), which was fake.

  82. gomets6091 says:

yep, no Pujols, no Jeff Bagwell, and no Mark Prior (3 of the bigger names I noticed right off the bat weren’t on the real one.)

  83. Mister Koo says:

My question is, what will Clemens say in response? I say he either denies it or says “no comment”. My bet is on the latter.

  84. VCarver says:

Wow, shame on those who spread around the fake list. It tarnished Pujols unfairly. And I don’t even like the guy.

  85. SheaHeyKid24 says:

    +1

  86. points guy says:

sadly, i think roger’s still going in. people love this ahole

  87. Ric says:

Do you think A-rod looks at Pettite and Clemens’ relationship then looks at Jeter and weeps?

  88. Ric says:

I don’t know dude, that photo seems fishy to me. I think it’s photoshopped because I’m sure the original had Posada in that tub with jeter.

  89. Ric says:

Actually now that you mention it in the original posada had a hat on that had a rubber ducky attached to the top.

  90. anditsouttahere says:

no way what would that say to future players. even if you take roids and we find out, you’ll still have a chance at being remembered as one of the greatest, no way.

  91. Hit The Weights Zeile says:

sadly he will still make it bc there are a 100 dbags like mike francesca who think clemens is so great and worship the ground his roided feet walk on.

  92. ravi3 says:

This somewhat vindicates Dan Duquette, who pushed Roger out of Boston, saying he was done…Now we see that it was the juice that kept him going…

That other Duquette on the otherhand, has a little more to go
