THen, in reserve, you could have prior getting ready, and the other kids (pelf/Humber/Mulvey) working on their stuff in AAa or the pen. Plus any other reclamation projects you land. Maybe not quite the ace everyone wants, but it is a way to get a viable, and potentially very good, rotation while still having depth in the system (for call ups, or future trades). Are there question marks in that rotation? Sure. But most Mets fans and the media seem to take Maine and Perez for granted. Could they have worse years than they did in 2007? Sure. But could they continue to grow and, perhaps, have an even better year? Absolutely. As it stands now, I am very comfortable with the rotation. The only thing that bothers is what the Mets will do when El Duque gets hurt. He carried the staff through July of 2007, but of course he can't be relied on to be healthy all season. Mulvey and Kunz and Vineyard and Niese and Purcell are all young and yet they all appear on the Baseball America METS SPECIFIC top 10 list.
