I think Omar is going about this pitching thing all wrong. If he signs Radaomski back to the club house then we will have all the pitching studs we want. Petite, Clemens!

Sure, you can wish anything you want. It's Christmastime, after all. But it would be nice if you had a better sense of the economics so you're not wising upon a star.

Do you know what constitutes those numbers from Selig? Do you really think the money is spreadevenly? It's not. Due to revenue sharing. The more money the Mets make, the more they have to give back to MLB. It's a big misconception that the growing revenues from sources like SNY goes all to the Mets.

As for valuation, that's just on paper and an estimate by someone at Forbes. And you forgot to mention that the Mets have the highest debt/value ratio in the major leagues. So, what were you saying about all that profit?

OK, what's wrong with this picture -- Forbes lists the Mets revenue at $85 million less than the Yankees. Guess what? Their team payroll that year was about $85 million less. So they are plowing as much of their revenues back into the team proportionally as the Yankees are. Which totally undermines the idea that they aren't spending as much.

Then Forbes says that even though the Mets have the highest debt ratio and, like the Yankees, had roughly $100 million left over from revenues after team payroll costs, their operating income was $50 million more? Hmmm ... So where's that revenue going on the Yankees side? Who's pocketing the moolah there? Seems like maybe it's Hank and Hal who are the ones who have been whopping it up and lining their pockets ... big time.

And where do you think the money is coming from to pay for Citifield? Care to venture a guess?

But you can continue to believe what you want. Ignore the numbers and believe that the Wilpons are the ones lining their pockets off of the team. And maybe one day you'll get your wish for a new owner. But be careful what you wish for -- you may get someone like the Dolans.

The Wilpons are far from perfect. They have a lousy hiring record when it comes to GMs and other top baseball people. But they are far from cheap.

I'd say it is about 50/50. I think that is where most contenders for him are. That statistic probably applies to him staying on the Twins until the beginning of the season.

Does anyone know of good pitchers that will become FAs during the year?

Bats included.

mets value has increased $350m in the last 5 years including a 22% increase in value last year (a clear reason to raise ticket prices)

$217m in revenue last year with about $150m in payroll and operating costs.

Or there is a chance there aren't many. The comments are coming from controversy or complaints. I don't think anyone with a working brain would ever complain of having the best pitcher in baseball. How long has it been since the Mets could say they had the best pitcher in baseball?

Dwight Gooden? Wow, that seems like so long ago.

$6.075b in revenue in 2007 according to selig

that's $200m per team if it's equally spread. of course the mets get a much, much bigger piece of the pie than that.

it's a business. the wilpons are entitled to make a huge profit on their investment. i'm entitled to wish another individual or family owned the team.

Wrong statement - we're talking about his "we're so good we get bored statement". Or, have you just tuned out the lowlights of the collapse?
