did you even read my post. i said we have a deeper rotation than them, yea we have a better 3-4-5 than them. i prefaced that by saying they have a better 1-2 punch. like it or not hamels is the best pitcher in the NL east, and myers is probably right on par with maine and perez depending who you slot in #2 behind pedro. the overworked BP excuse doesnt work here the phillies pen was constantly used bc their back end was terrible (hello adam eaton) and yet they did not fold like a cheap suit down the stretch in fact they were pretty darn good in september as a unit. so why should i believe our bullpen will hold up better this year than last year when we dont have a single starter that we can count on to give us 200 innings? whether you want to admit it or not right now the phillies are the best team in the NL east. im sorry for being realistic.

Really? Last time I checked it was the Phillies who beat the Mets 8 times in a row, not the Mets.

over / under on 10 strikeout games by Mets pitchers against the Phillies?

I'll set the line at 7 1/2 out of 18

Well Lidge at CBP should be fun to watch. Maybe we'll get to see Lidge vs. Pujols round 103.

Hopefully.

However, the Jenkins singing is pretty good for the Sillies. It replaces Rowand's bat in the outfield (though I'm sure Shane will start in centerfield, and if they keep a hold of Jayson Werth, he'll split playing time with Jenkins.) But if he has a year like he had in 2006...good times.

Myers is not a sure thing. You make it seem as if they went out and got santana? We have Pedro, Olie and Maine. Thats better their top 3 not to mention we will probably feild a better 4 &5 than they will. Their bullpen is not even with ours. We are better. Heilamn alone (despite my despise of him) is better than anyone in their bullpen. Felicano, Smith etc are very good relievers who were overworked last year. Our bullpen, right now, is better than theirs.

I will say their offense is better. It was last year and it is this year. But their offense was better than Colorado's and they lost.

I dont fear the Phillies. I fear my own team because regardless where we finished last year, we are better than last year and we are still the team to beat.

the thing is adding lidge is not just adding a reliever it is also adding a #2 starter in myers. im not so much afraid of lidge as i am afraid of them having a better 1-2 punch than us. and you can call jenkins a loser but i guarantee that between werth and jenkins they match rowands HR and 2B production. so right now our rotations are about even (only bc ours is deeper, but with injuries to our older players theirs is better), and our bullpens are about even, but their lineup owns ours so yes id give them the edge rigth now on dec 20th.

How can you say they are better? Because they added Lidge whose been awful for 2-3 years? Because they added this loser? Excuse me but the Mets gave away the division last year, the Phillies didn't win in.

Im not sure why everyone is bashing this move. i think its a great move for them. It plays to their strengths of having a small ball park. you dont need range to play the corners at CBP, and jenkins will hit his fair share of homers. Not to mention he wont be playign all the time probably platooning with werth which gives them 4 lefties with HR pop when facing a RH pitcher (smoltz, hudson, maine, duque). not sure about you guys but the thought of "fly ball pitcher" john maine facing rollins utley howard and jenkins all batting left handed in that park makes me cringe.
