What do you mean he might not be the ace? He won the NL Cy Young and pitched a one hitter shutout in Game 2 of the 08 NLDS in 2K7 for me (I traded Pedro to get him).

His cousin Jim did though.

Florida's stadium is a good pitchers park.

Shea stadium slightly favors pitchers, but actually boosts left-handed hitters offensive numbers.

Willis would have been worse here.

He'll do well his first year in the American League, because they haven't seen him yet... but he's garbage right now.

I like Willis more than any other free agent pitcher that is out there right now. I'd take Willis over Lohse and Silva everytime. I think the D-Train would of gotten a joint from the crowds and the attention he'd get here.

He might not be the ace but there's always the possibility that he can re-discover himself with the Mets when he was good. But oh well, moving on.

Ultimately, I would have liked to see him in a Mets uniform, but this deal also makes me realize one thing. That Lohse is NOT worth 4 years at 10 million a year...I mean come on, D train just got 3 yrs 29, and he is the BETTER pitcher!

Hold on a minute. Getting Santana isnt good buisness? There are many reasons as to why it would be good buisness...
1- He is the best pitcher in baseball and the ace this team needs
2- He ensures us the division title or wild card at the very least
3- He is still young and in his prime so a long term deal makes buisness sense. Much more sense than 4 years of a horrible pitcher than Loshe. Loshe for 4 or Santana for 6 or 7? Hum??? Let me think. Ha!
4- His star power sells tickets. I know I will be more inclined to buy a day of game walk up ticket on a night he is starting.
5- His star power sells merchandise such as his jerseys
6- Which of the 6 prospects will ever come close to Johan talent wise? None of them. And even if they ever do it would be too late for this aging team that needs to take a shot at the WS now.

I can go on and on about how much buisness sense it makes but I would be on here all night. You get the idea I hope.
