…i may have a chance to talk with Mets C Brian
Schneider today, thanks to SNY…
…if i get the chance to speak with him, i’m leaning towards asking him about a) how the Mets are viewed by other players around the league, and b) the day-to-day job of working with a pitching staff…
…if you have a question, along this line of thinking, list it in the comments section of this post and i will do my best to work it in…

Brian, would you like to see the mets go out and get a pitcher… say Johan santana, for example?
Brian: How crappy are you going to feel when you strike out leading off and inning, just after Lastings Milledge ripped his second double of the day last inning????? Weren’t you traded for him?
how ever did you manage to score that huge contract?
what is Nick Johnson really like?
How did Dmitri Young get his nickname, “Da Meat Hook”?
After that crippling loss in games 7 and the staggering colapse is 2007, does the team feel that they have enough to go all the way in 2008, IF, they dont get a starting pitcher to replace Tommy? I dont think they do. Nothing would make me more happy as a MTES fan than to have Shea go out with the glory of a WS championship. If we can sign a starter we may have enough to win. Now that we have gotten rid of the “curse” of Tommy G. LETS GO METS !!!!
Brian, what do you have in mind for you Jose Reyes handshake?
*your
+7 for Reyes
Brian’s answer: “Nothing, only people with offensive games have to worry about Jose’s handshakes.”
+5
ouch; late but still a good one.
Brian, why do suppose the average fan doesn’t appreciate that a catcher’s primary job is behind the plate?
Oh please… it’s not like we have a lineup that can hide his bat.. esp in the NL
More then a hanfull of catchers manage to hit and play solid to outstanding defense
Why do you wear your cigarettes in your rolled up t-shirt sleeve? Don’t you think that sets a bad example for children?
HAHA!
not sure if everyone got this reference… mebe just us older fans!
No…the younger fans picked up the reference. LOL. I think he was my superintendent. :0)
How could you not notice how dangerously thin Julie was?
Wow, I completely missed that reference!
Brian, how do you feel about this whole steroid ordeal…
What was your favorite baseball team as a child.
Who do you believe is the best hitter/pitcher in baseball at the moment.
How do you prepare for the next season during the offseason?
Who was your idol when you were younger?
How do you feel about the direction of the mets?
What was your initial reaction upon being delt to the mets?
(As I said prior) Brian, would you like to see the mets go out and get a pitcher… say Johan santana, for example?
What do you feel is the biggest strength, biggest weakness of the mets currently?
How was your time with washington?
The usual rhetoric
+.5/10
for having one half a question that is good:
What do you feel is the biggest weakness of the mets currently?
It should be worded “Besides yourself, what do you feel is the biggest weakness of the Mets currently?”
“Besides yourself, and that 3/5 of the starting rotation as it is currently constituted is a potential crapshoot, what do you feel is the team’s biggest weakness?”
Brian: Who exactly cares what you think?
+25
Excellent point!
Pointsguy…how did you miss this one?
Ask him how he plans to help develop some of the younger pitchers, Pelf, Humber, Smith et al.
I hate the points rating system but like your commentary when you are offering it.
By the way…excellent question and valuable because one of the young guys will be starting and we will likely see Smith in the pen for long stretches.
what can i say? i’m a judgmental pr1ck.
+5 honest self-assessment
Points thing getting really, really old.
but then what will become of my moniker?
We’ll always remember the good times
POINTS GUY is GOLD…dont worry about what these other f*ggy blowhards say…
points guy im a fan, keep it up.
I like points guy, just not the points posts. The points are the stone in the stone soup.
points guy is like the cowbellman of metsblog!
*feeling warm*
As Chris Rock says, “You got to love the crust of a motherfocker.
You can’t just love
the white part of the bread.
You gotta love the crust, the crumbs,
the tiny crumbs at the bottom of the toaster.
That’s what the real motherfocker is.”
But these are “points”
Add me to the points love parade . . .
Any Chris Rock Reference is an automatic +100.. I so miss him being funny and releveant..
So many classic Chris Rock quotes that apply to any situation…
“What you want, a cookie?”
Point guy rules!!!
Points Guy in 08! You got my vote! :0)
Big fan of points guy . . would enjoy more negative point scores though (from a fellow negative judgemental creep)
This whole line of posts gets a gold star.
-355.
Also a negative points kinda guy.
I have to say, I like the points thing too.
But I also have to say that I cannot stand the cowbell guy.
I’m starting to like the points.. better with themes and mets references though.
i’m torn. the points thing is borderline aggravating, but the guy does make a good post every so often. The guy is trapped by his moniker.
At least it’s a less annoying schtick than the one where a poster defends every met decision as though it was the best of all possible worlds, and whines about all other posters being whiners ;)
if he’s the cowbellman, whos the kowalski?
Ask him to please retire so we can go and sign a catcher who will hit above .250 for the season.. thanks Matt!
nono
But he calls a great game. That will lower the team era by a full run.
That’s sarcasm, in case it doesn’t come through.
see the funny thing about that extrawhitemeat… is that hes still one of the better defensive catchers in baseball… not to mention that other than the rarity (mauer who will never EVER be a met, and V Martinez) most catchers SUCK at hitting. Seriously, name me 5 catchers that are GREAT defensively as well as offensively. You cant, cause with rare exception its usually you get one or the other. The mets have offense they need a catcher who can build the young guys and play great defense I Iike schneider… I’d love Johan santana to be pitching to him though… (As a met I note)
Thre are plenty with good bats.. where there defense is avg or better..
McCann
Mauer and Marintez who you mentioned
Pudge (hit .281 last year)
Posada was out his mind last year at the plate and behind it
Ramon Hernandez
Bengie Molina
Jason Vatiek
That’s what 8?
I’ve made this same arguement before.. with the way the Mets lineup shapes up… Alou is gonna mis a ton of games.. everyone excepts Delgado to rebound but will he? A 4th OF type in Church takes ove ra full tile job when its well documented he struggles against lefties…
I think on days with some of the above is a factor.. is lack of bat will be very very noticable.. and very very frustrating…
We shall see.. I’d love to be wrong.. but I have HATED this idea from the day he came here.. let’s not even mention that it took Milledge to bring us a 31 year old career batting .252 catcher who somehow makes $5 million a year! How many players did the Nats have that they were paying $5 million a year??
They can have Jesus Flores (who they stole from us) be just as great defenisvely behind the plate, and just as woeful at the bat.. for a heck of lot less!
By the way Jesus Flores hit .244 last season to “the schnides’ .235
Peterson is here for the young pitchers.. not worth giving up an out in the 8th spot for his “Defense”
ewm,
I know his hitting is superlative, but Posada is one of the worst fielding catcher. He single-handedly lost a division series game by allowing two passed balls.
He’s horrible behind the plate.
You know.. I am so confident that The Schnide is gonna bomb this year..
Steak Dinner bet at Sparks.. to anyone who thinks The Shcnide will put up a more complete season (offense and defense) then Estrada who the met’s cut…
I think he threw baserunners out at like a 40% clip last year..
Besides.. if the Yankees didn’t choke with it all on the line.. they wouldn’t be the Yankees :-)
And I think A-rod striking out in game 2 with two on might of helped them loose that series too…
throwing out runners is definitely a skill we Mets fans can appreciate *ahem* Mikey P*
But passed balls are inexcusable. And for all of Mike’s defensive shortcomings, he was excellent at blocking the plate.
McCann
Mauer and Marintez who you mentioned
Pudge (hit .281 last year)
Posada was out his mind last year at the plate and behind it
Ramon Hernandez
Bengie Molina
Jason Vatiek
a thorough list but it makes me wonder how many of them were coming here with an OF in exchange for Lastings Milledge?
Well either way.. the blocked balls hes stopping aren’t gonna make headlines if we’re struggling to score runs…
Maybe I can’t get over the bitterness of the Milledge trade.. but I hate this guy.. and wish he wasn’t our starting catcher next year
What do you say Grave.. you and me at Sparks.. Forget tradding Milledge.. Estrada will have a more complete season then then Schnide…
I’m certainly not saying that I wouldn’t rather have any or all of the players on your list, just wondering how their arrival would otherwise impact the roster. I think the Mets would’ve been much better off if whatever circumstances that led them to leave FA offers for Hernandez and Molina just dangling there and instead trade for Lo Duca had never happened. We’d be about to enter year 3 of the Bengie Molina era, complaining that despite his 18 homers he just doesn’t have some intangible quality, but happy that no notable recent Met was on the Mitchell report.
Love the Schnide. Now we need to bring back the Stache to complete the best nicknames in baseball
Look, if the Mets need to rely on their catcher to prime the offense, they’re in big trouble. You always go for defense behind the plate. It’s always better to have a weak-hitting, solid defensive catcher than a hitter who sucks behind the plate.
there are plenty of other skills a mets catcher can nurture other than hitting the ball or throwing out runners…what about….
growing a rad mustache? landing a playboy bunny beard? let’s keep an open mind about this.
If all we needed was defense then why dont we stick DeFelice back there… or why didnt we keep Flores protected on the 40 man roster..
I forgot what game I was at.. with one out.. and Defelice up.. Willie had him bunt.. to put the runner in scoring position for the pitcher..
Had him BUNT TO PUT THE RUN IN SCORING POSITION FOR THE PITCHER
How many times am I gonna be forced to watch that happen next year? ugh
ummm…how much production did we truly get out of the catcher spot last year? come on guys, our real issue is if Delgado is the Delgado of 2006 or 2007 and how healthy Alou is and if Reyes is back to normal…SCHNEIDER IS NOT GOING TO MAKE OR BREAK OUR OFFENSE!! If he does, were in HUGE trouble
John Maine and Oliver Perez have both shown signs of tremendous talent, but both have also been known for mental lapses on the mound. How do you believe you can help these two 15 game winners progress as pitchers?
Victoria’s Secret Gift Cards?
Brian, as a catcher how do you integrate your “feel” for the game with a game plan laid forth by the pitcher and pitching coach. Do feel that this style will have to be amended with Rick Peterson now as the pitching coach?
What pitcher on the current Mets Staff do you look forward to working with the most?
Are you doing any work now to familarize yourself with the staff? if so can you give an some examples
Brian, you suck. Don’t you feel guilty cashing your paycheck?
I almost spit up my coffee reading this. well done.
He’s an entertainer who catches balls on his chin.
he’s a baseball player, don’t throw him any softballs.
Brian, as a new member of the team, what can you provide to help push the Mets to the next level?
Brian, can you make the team look like the care or are at least trying come September?
Brian, we know you’re a good defensive catcher. However, are you doing anything to improve your hitting?
haha, a thinly veiled way of saying “you suck”. but like someone said earlier, catcher is not a traditional hitters’ position. the mets have been fortunate to have a series of good hitting catchers in their history, though, so the fan is spoiled
Brian, do you have any relatives who posed for Playboy? [sarcasm]
Brian, any relation to the guy on “One Day at a Time?” And if so, did he ever tap a young Valerie Bertinelli?
lol
Valerie was a hot piece of 80’s ass…
Brian , how will you handle it when you strike out in the bottom of the ninth against Tom Gordon with the bases loades down by one run in September, when the Mets are 2 games back with 4 to play and the entire city of New York wants you crucified??
The same way Loduca would except he’s not on steroids so he wont go off and run after the umpire.
after Schneider’s strike out makes it two outs, the only remaining bench player comes up to pinch hit for Heilman (who’s gone 2 1/3 and is spent), and a few weeks after Ruben Gotay grounds out weakly to 2nd ending the Mets season no one even remembers who batted before him.
J.R. Dot’s Question:
Mr. Schneider,
How does it feel to know that you will be booed out of town when the Mets fall into 4th place in July? Are you nervous?
He would prob. say “With fans like you, who would want to be here anyway.”
Brian, will you also be recommending steroids to your teammates like your predecessor?
+16 for Lo down Duca
ouch – lol
To follow up on your question about how the Mets players are viewed by other players around the league, I would ask him, “do you think that the brawl the occurred between the mets and the marlins at the end of last season could have happened between the mets and any other team?” The purpose of the question is really to find out if the mets are really as universally disliked as they are made out to be by the media, or if that brawl was just a one time, isolated incident that is unlikely to happen again.
What does a catcher need to do to earn the trust of the pitching staff?
perhaps take his teammates out for makeovers.
#2 –
Mr. Schneider,
Between 2005 and 2006, your HR production dropped from a whopping 10, to 4, although you had more at-bats in 2006. Was this due to your decision to stop using HGH after 2005, or were there other factors?
Brian, do you think you can ever eclipse that ever elusive Rey Ordonez BA of .254?
+100
#3,
Mr. Schneider,
How does it feel to know that you will always be looked at by the fans as “who the Mets got when they made that moronic trade of Milledge.”
Larry Andersen = Brian Schneider.
I’m liking it.
I would address him as
Mr. Victor Zambrano,
how does it feel to know that you will always be looked at by the fans as “who the Mets got when they made that moronic trade of Milledge.”
if the Larry Andersen = Brian Schneider also means that over the next 17 years the Mets will have 2 more world championships while the Nats will still have zero then I’m ok with that long term.
#4
Mr. Schneider,
Considering you have been on a losing team for many years, isn’t it exciting to come to an 85-88 win team?
some of these questions are histericle…
i would ask him…
Many Mets fans are unfamiliar with your hitting style… describe what kind/type of hitter you are?
ex… Singles? Pull? Move the runners up? Patient?
Hysterical.
bad?
what the hell is a “histericle”? a popsicle made of history?
rediculous the way some people spel wurds.
Wow.. a misspelling.. so sue me… last time I checked, typos/mistakes/accidents were OK. People still lived and the world did not end. Relax there guy.
#5,
Mr. Schneider,
How excited are you to catch a stud pitcher like Kyle Lohse on a semi-legitmate wild card contender?
dude you’re en fuego!!!!!
It is unbelievable how ignorant and non-informative most of teh people who post on here are. Matt, I am sorry you have to filter through most of this garbage. I wouldn’t be shocked if most of these posts are done by a 12 year old who just started following the team
Precisely. Obscenities from a 14 year-old are really no better than misspellings and toilet humor from a 12 year-old.
so how long have you and matt been going out?
+2
haha
Red bull just shot from my nose and mouth all over my cubicle….thank you so much for the laugh.
I love the humor on this site , u get ot be a Mets fan , and laugh ur as* off 7 days a week yes a few posts in here are extreme, but just croll past… if u dont like this site ..beat it..we wont miss ya.
scroll** , croll , whatev!
just a few weeks. I was gonna break up with him after our boring first date but he kept saying how he could introduce me to Brian Schneider so I hung around awhile.
id actually argue that most of the people making the really funny and clever fake questions are some of the more informed fans, if they werent informed theyd have nothing to draw from when making a relevant mets joke. sorry you dont have a sense of humor.
Would love to hear Brian’s thoughts on some of our pitchers, and any in particular he is especially looking forward to working with.
How about …
You: I want the absolute truth here. Are you one hundred percent?
Schneider: Yeah. Would I bullsh** you about something like that?
You: You better, you wanna make this team.
In all seriousness, I might ask him:
1) If he is excited about moving to Shea, which while not a bandbox, has to be more hitter friendly than RFK.
2) How his knees are holding up. As a guy who caught up until age 24 (give or take), mine are always hurting me now. Can’t imagine the wear and tear those guys go through.
3) What goes into moving to a new team like this? Is he going to move to the NY area? Is he going to go up to NYC before the season starts to familiarize and perhaps engage in some team functions?
Brian,
What are your thoughts on the following as it relates to Ryan Church:
In 2005, the Nationals suspended Jon Moeller, a volunteer chaplain, and issued an apology after Ryan Church, a devout Christian, revealed conversations he had with him about a Jewish former girlfriend. Church told the Washington Post that the chaplain nodded when he asked whether Jews were “doomed” because they “don’t believe in Jesus.” After Jewish community leaders complained, Church issued a statement saying, “I am not the type of person who would call into question the religious beliefs of others.”
Please discuss….
Whoa — you are Johnny-on-the-spot with this one! Is your mail delivered by pack mule?
In other words – what do you think of your teammate the anti-semite?
He’s anti-semetic because he believes that only those who share his beliefes can get into heaven? Spare me with this anti-semetic, ‘can’t say anything about Jews’ nonsense…PLEASE …Jeez, everthing and everyone is anti-semetic or an anti-semite these days.
In other words, can we let this go? You have to be pathologically paranoid to think that what Church said makes him an anti-Semite. I have to wonder if he’d get the same scrutiny were his name not “Church”?
calling him anti-semetic is ignorant he never said he hated jewish people. it is kind of funny that he is replacing shawn “the hebrew hammer” green though.
“it is kind of funny that he is replacing shawn “the hebrew hammer” green though.”
Can we start calling Church “the Altar Boy?”
Calling Church an anti-Semite says more about that accuser’s oversensitive insecurities and obsession with being a victim than it can possibly say about Church.
All you whining morons should actually read his comments intelligently and make an honest attempt to understand before passing blind judgment.
carrier pidgeon
For Real
Brian,
“When you faced the Mets who was the most difficult pitcher to read?”
“Do you think your switch from the expansive RFK will have a postive effect on your power numbers?”
“Are you happy you don’t have Jose Reyes, Wright, and Beltran screwing over your throw out percentage?”
Sarcasm
“What kind of trash talk will you bring behind the plate to get in hitters heads?” I.E LoDuca – “Hey (Name), I hear you’re daughter is single?” “Where do you get your stuff from? I’ll offer a discount.”
“Which club will you most likely visit to make sexual advances on a woman in order to pork her in the stall of the bathroom?”
question 1 – Which of the two young mets pitchers (Maine and Perez) have the greater upside, and who is more likely to acheive it?
Question 2 – What does Mike Pelferey need to do to acheive the hype the mets originally had when drafting him?
Question 3 – Can Aaron Heilman be an effective starter and how effective can he be?
Brian’s likely answers to your questions:
1) The scouting reports on these guys give us pointers on how to hit them. I thumbing through my notes on both Perez and Maine, and…nope…there’s nothing in here that tells me who has more upside and who is destined to have a better career. Sorry.
2) In order for Pelfrey to achieve the hype that the Mets did when they drafted him, Mike would have to make sure that he puts his newly selected player in the best situation to be successful. This way the player that Pelf selects would have fat stats in the minors, thus getting Pelfrey the hype that the Mets got when they selected him.
3)Obviously Heilman can be an effective starter. He has thrown a one-hitter in this league, so we know he can be at least that effective, but the question with Heilman is if he can be a consistent starter.
Or how about this question:
Brian,
You were behind the plate catching Mike Bacsik (a terrible pitcher) when Barry Bonds hit his record-breaking 756th career home run on August 7, 2007.
Congratulations by the way…
Anyway…which one of our terrible 5-6 inning pitchers are you looking forward to catching?
Three questions:
1) What are your thoughts on Wilie Randolph, and how have they changed from what you heard as a National (aka the enemy)?
2) In working with your pitchers, what do you like to emphasize?
3) Why don’t sheep shrink in the rain?
Brian,
Are you looking forward to any of the following NY Post/NY Daily News headlines as it relates to you and Ryan Church:
“Off the Schneid” Mets break 8 game losing streak
“This is your Brian on Drugs” Schneider caught doing HGH in clubhouse
“Brian’s Song” Schneider steals Enter Sandman from Wags
“Church Pew” Ryan strikes out 4 times in Mets loss to Pirates
“Here is the Church, here is the Steeple, Mets lose at Shea, where are the people?”
LOL
+7676
well played, though I might have spread them out, you know like separating Willis & Cabrera into two trades, not one.
Teeeheeee
Damn funny
Brian, if you were a tree, what type would you be?
(1) Could you describe Manny Acta’s managing style?
(2) Do you think you could convince Mets’ management to try to bring him back?
(3) Can you please stop answering with cliches that the PR department spoon-fed you?
(4) Great, thanks. When you were playing games against the Mets in September, what was the mood like in the clubhouse? Was there any sense that the Mets were panicking?
If you were better friends with Mr Lo Duca, do you think you could hit 25 home runs this year?
How will you help the Mets young pitchers such as Pelfrey, Humber, Joe Smith, Oliver Perez, develop and stay focused in tough situations.
or
Last year Joe Smith struggled down the stretch, Mike Pelfrey struggled with location, Phil Humber was in AAA, and Oliver Perez strugged at times keeping his head in games. What will you do as a new catcher to help these young players develop and get through these rough stretches?
Brian,
Welcome to Willie’s club. We look forward to hearing that you are one of “Willie’s Guys”.
That being said, are you looking forward to being double switched out of the game in the later innings since you cannot hit?
how about….
Brian, how does it feel knowing no matter how inept you are at the plate your job will never be in jeopardy once you achieve the title of “willies guy”.
also
is it satisfying to know that thanks to your new managers lack of understanding of the “double switch” you will play late in games despite not being able to hit water if you fell out of a boat.
If you clinch the NL east with El Duque on the mound would you be reluctant to rush the mound out of fear Mr. Hernandez would pull a hamstring and be ineligiable for the post season?
This may be my favorite one!
Brian: thats just a ridiculous question….clinch the NL east?
Here’s a link to a long interview of Schneider from last week:
http://nats320.blogspot.com/
(scroll down)
He never said it was a positive :-/
Is this trade a positive or a negative for you? (SBF)
“I don’t see the trade as a negative. Yeah, I am leaving a lot of my buddies and the only organization I have always been in. But, we all know it’s a business. Things happen that are not in control by the player. I never want to look into anything as a negative. I want to turn it (the trade) into a positive—as much as possible. I am going to a Championship Caliber Team. A team that has a chance at winning a Championship, right away. Really, I can’t be mad about that. Your goals when you play baseball are obviously to win The World Series. Everyone wants to get to the playoffs, the post season and win The World Series.”
“So, I don’t see it as a negative. I can’t keep looking behind me. I have to start looking forward. This is what I have been presented with, and I am going to do my best to help The Mets win.”
brian: im happy to go to a championship caliber team
pr guy (whispering in ear): you are going to NY, but youre going to the mets.
brian: oh no…
OH NO YOU DID -INT!!
+27 for todd zeile
HOW ANNOYING ARE U WITH THESE POINTS>… GET LOST
Brian,
Why do you think that you are considered one of the best defensive catchers in the league? Which statistic(s) do you should be use when rating a catcher’s defensive ability?
What are your reaction when you found out about The Big names being listed in Mitchell report? Have you use any PED’s in the past?
BS: Well, I’m gonna have to come clean and say, yes. I’ve used HGH, but NOT steroids.
Q: You have? wow. That’s quite an admission. Let me run down your stats and guess which year you used it. *scrolling down the years* Hmmm, can’t find any evidence.
BS: It was the summer of 04 when I belted 12 HRs
Q: 12 HRs? Are you sure you used HGH?
BS: Yes!! It’s a full confession, I admit it!!
Q: 12HRs? I don’t know Brian.
Q: What did the label on the jar say?
BS: I don’t know. Abby something…
this one is great too lol…”belted”
I would ask him how he intends to communicate with Willie’s gut. If possible please let him know while we Met fans can be rough at times, please do not take it too personally. After putting up with the Wilpons all these years, and now having the to watch the Omar and Willie circus some of us fans are strung a little too tightly when it comes to baseball. I know I am. I do wish him and Ryan luck, in fact I think we all are going to need a lot of luck in 2008. That being said, Merry Christmas to all my fellow Met fans! Lets Go Mets!
If Willie is fed a fruit cake infused with DNA from Casey Stengel, Tony LaRussa, Gil Hodges, and Joe McCarthy:
A) Would this improve the permformance of said gut?
B) Would he then be suspendend for using a performance enhansing drug?
C) Would this make the team better?
Brian, would you consider at least corking your bat to help the Met offense? Please?
+21 for Sammy Sosa
Do you dread going to work everyday for a dimwitted manager like Willie Randolph who has no fire?
HAHAHAHA! Yes!
willie is the worst
B Schneid,
The Mets have gone from Piazza to Loduca and now to you. What can you do to further tarnish the catching position on the Mets now that LoDuca has left?
A follow up…how did it feel to hear that before bringing you in, Omar Minaya inquired into the status of the following catchers:
Mackey Sasser
Charlie O’Brien
Kelly Stinnett
Barry Lyons
Ed Hearn
Rick Cerrone
Brent Mayne
Alberto Castillo
Jorge Fabregas
Jim Tatum
Tim Spehr
Eli Marrero
Mike DeFelice
and Schroeder from the Peanuts.
Schroeder would have been pretty good if not for the carpal tunnel he got playing piano all the time….
Pig Pen would be better, no need to kick any dirt as it’s just constantly flying all around him
we have a winner!
Don’t forget Todd Pratt, a proven vet.
Now we know why he was able to eleviate from Dominoes Manager to scrub catcher who hit in the clutch!
Mr. Schneider, from 2001 through 2005, your slugging percentage was never lower than .394. However, in 2006 and 2007, your slugging percentage was .329 and .336, respectively. Moreover, from 2001 through 2005 you threw out runners at a 40-50% pace. However, in 2006 and 2007, your caught-stealing percentage has been down in 30-31% range. These are quite sudden drop offs, have you been experiencing any shoulder or arm troubles that might explain the drop off in your slugging percentage and caught-stealing percentage after 2005?
Brian: To quote Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon, I’m too old for this sh**…..
H
G
Matt…you should call him up and when he answers go:
“Hi Mr. Torrealba, its Matt Cerrone from Metsblog, welcome to NY”.
See if he has a sense of humor!
does ramon castro’s big head frighten you at all?
And Ramon Castro gets hit with a stray bullet.
Brian, when do your first full-on roid rage episode against an ump?
*when do you plan on having
shortly after he sits on something sharp that was left behind in Lo Duca’s locker
Will it be worth it to shell out an extra 20% to watch this team next season?
+20
love it
Of course, Matt could always ask Brian Schiender if he knows Brian Schneider, catcher for the Mets.
Took me a second but I did see the spelling error. Nice catch.
Hey Brian, do you feel comfortable playing for a GM that would trade Lastings Milledge for you and Ryan Church?
omg, i am DYING laughing here at work..this might be Cerrone’s biggest mistake he’s ever made…this is SOOOO funny, this chick i work with just told me to shut up cuz im laughin too much and it’s annoying her….
there’s an expletive laden quote above in this thread that you might relay to her, the clean portion of which was
“go…yourself…face”
lmao….i should say that
dude tap that.
+1 for every minute you’re in it.
Ask him:
“Do you know I am a homer?”
“If i get the chance to speak with him, i’m leaning towards asking him about a) how the Mets are viewed by other players around the league, and b) the day-to-day job of working with a pitching staff”
Matt, no need to interview him, here are the answers:
a) Sucky…did you see their collapse?
b) what pitching staff? I was on the Nationals!
Oh nice, I just got a holiday e-card from the Mets.
Brian, how does it feel knowing the Mets didn’t think enough of you to feature you on their e-card to the fans?
Just got it too…makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Brian, Do you know that I will never say anything about about the mess that is our oganization?
Or this would be good too….
“Brian, isn’t it good to know that even if you hit .115 and make 35 errors behind the plate, I still won’t talk bad about you on the blog?”
B. Schneid,
As the new catcher, will u have any issues zipping up the back of John Maine’s dress after games???
Or do you feel you can help John Maine focus by wearing a catchers mask that looks like Scooby Doo and giving him 2 scooby snacks if he gives up a game tying home run?
Shaggy reference?? I can see the resemblence.
“Brian, being a catcher, you probably have your finger on the pulse of a game like no other player on the field. How is it going to feel when you see your manager constantly make horrendous moves all season long?”
Brian, do you plan on taking batting tips from Mike Defelice?
nice guys, sometimes it’s good to laugh to keep from crying.
Please ask him to forfiet his starting job to Ramon Castro.
“Brian, tell all of the fans reading at metsblog…does it take a lot of work to hit .230?……..(on the side: can you sign my @ss????)”
Brian,
What do you plan on adding to the 2008 version of the “GourMets cookbook”?
The fans have heard all about Schneider’s white trash potato chip sandwich.
We can get rid of Glavine’s French Toast, Green’s Matzo Ball Soup, and LoDuca’s pasta with zucchini and parmesan.
How do you feel about placement next to Delgado’s grilled snapper with avocado salsa?
brian’s schnitzel, of course!
Brian, Are you excited that by June 1st you’ll lose your job to CASTRO, but he will be hurt by mid-june and Mike DiFelice will be our starting catcher beacause you proved to be awful
At least we know that Schneider isn’t on Steroids.
If he is, they ain’t workin’
Also, I recommend we go after Crash Davis as our starting catcher.
Brian, In the new MLB video game for XBOX will you be making a trade for a better catcher to replace yourself?
He could try to trade him and Church for Milledge but the game would reject it
LMAO
touche
Brian, will it bother you if Willie actually considers batting you 9th in the order?
9th is delgados spot
Brian, what does it say about you as a player that there have been almost 200 posts and maybe 5 are serious questions?
This is supposed to be a thread about questions for Brian Schneider??????
Oops, I must have clicked the wrong button.
Stop!! My stomach is killing me!!! Sthis is one of the funniest threads in the history of Metsblog, I swear!
excellent!

Which pitcher(s) do you feel have developed the most while you were catching them?
Dude, come on…that’s not funny. What’s the matter with u?
dude, this is not the place for these type of questions..take a walk
Brian’s reponse:
Ever hear of a little pitcher called Matt Chico? Didn’t think so…
Way to bring the blog down Debbie Downer…
excellent use of alliteration
We begin our questionaire, which was designed by Bernard Pivot.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

Brian,
I call Metsblog the “Grand Central Station for Mets Information”. This is a 2 part question:
1) Have you ever been to Grand Central Station? and
2) Would you ever consider hanging up your spikes now and
joining the janitorial staff there so we could acquire a more
competent catcher behind the dish?
Hey Brian….have you considered the real estate market in the greater Norfolk area?
he will be there
Ryan, is there any truth to the rumor that you should never hang a slider to the Schneider?
Brian’s response:
There is no truth to that rumor. Have you seen my batting average?
Brian, do you have any options left?
“Brian, there are some players on this team that get bored very easily. They have what some would call ADHD. What would you do to help keep your teammates interested and motivated down the home stretch when they are in a contested pennant race in the biggest city in the world?”
And Delgado sneaks in a question!
I would give them ADHGH. It seemed to work with LoDuca.
do you realize that this blog will be filled with posters spewing hate at you as soon as castro plays well for couple of games?
do you realize that the wilpons have to sell 12,405 fan walk bricks with mets logo to pay your contract for this year?
full disclosure: proceeds from the fan bricks will be distributed to charities under the supervision paris wilpon
Office fans…..
12,405 fan walk bricks= $32,100 Schrute Bucks plus 10 Stanley nickels.
Brian,
Will you consider requesting for no. 31 in honor of our great former catcher? Heck…it might even help raise your batting average a coupleof points. :)
Mets 2008 Slogan (comercial):
John Maines bill at Victoria’s Secret?
$3,745 on Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards card.
Orlando Hernandez medical bill?
$1,246,892 on Citi Platinum Select Card.
Charging fans 20% more to make up for lost playoff revenue?
Priceless
