So basically, there's nothing to report. Unless the Yankees change their mind on including Hughes AND Kennedy, nothing is going to happen. Twins aren't going to accept a deal just because it's on the table.

I'd have to believe that nothing is close.

Nobody takes GM Bill Smith seirously saying that he'd go the season.

The Mets, Red Sox, and Yankees all aren't meeting the requirements, and, frankly, never will. With the Haren deal, prices may change, or they may not, but the Twins certainly don't want nothing out of him and see him go to the free agency.

If my name was Omar Minaya, I'd be waiting until the Twins are satisfied with the Red Sox's offer and offer Gomez, Heilman, Guerra/Pelfrey, Mulvey & Humber and let the Twins jump for joy and accept the deal.

This keeps happening because the Yankee's insist upon TRYING to strongarm players into signing by putting a "deadline" on their offer. I don't know who's idea it is, Steinbrenner or Cashman, but it doesn't work. Why try to start a new relationship with a player by placing a deadline on the offer. Talk about ticking someone off on the first impression. I am so sick and tired of hearing "how it's an honor to put on the pinstips." Does anyone else get the feeling that anyone that says this is told they must say it??? I really think that anyone that works with them feels constantly threatened by the massive PR machine that they are. The Yankee's are all about money, bottom line. Players go there because the get the biggest payday and get a ton of PR, not to play for this "wonderful organization."

Why would Boston help us land the best pitcher in Baseball? They still hate our guts for 1986
