At Faith and Fear in Flushing, Greg Prince
compares today’s cartoonish, ‘post-Seinfeld’ Keith Hernandez to the ‘pre-Seinfeld’ version who played for the Mets.
…i understand what greg is saying…i just assume that keith defeated many of the demons that troubled him during his younger days…and for that i am happy for him…i mean, sure, i miss the disturbed, serious, hard-working ball player from the 1980s, but i also miss seeing new episodes of Cheers every Thursday…things change, you know…which is why i just enjoy knowing that keith is happy, and just being himself…even if he is a bit goofy at times…frankly, as long as he has the mustache and fur coat, which he does, he’s still an icon to me…

icons dont lend their likeness for advertisements in a pennysaver brochure.
he sure could spit, though.
Cartoonish?
alluding to the SNY commercial shorts with him gary and ron on the couch.
lollipop for your coke?
Shelly Long Cheers or Kirstie Alley Cheers. Personally, I was more of a Markie Post, Night Court kind of guy.
Among the three, I’d go Markie Post as well
+5. You get an extra 10 ponts if Kirstie Alley’s present weight “concerns” ndidn’t cloud your decision.
Shelly Long, definitely.
Markie Post, definitely.
Rhea Perlman, definitely.
YEAH! Rhea Perlman is HOT! Just that there’s no way someone could have a chance when she’s marries to that studmuffin Danny Devito. That guy’s been voted Sexiest Man Alive (under 3 feet) for the last 10, 20 years in a row!
loved Markie Post (great rack)
As long as he does not change in the booth, and I was definitely a Markie Post guy…
Markie Post all the way!
She STILL looks good too…. The “There’s Something About Mary” version was pretty hot too.
More comments about the “Cheers” reference than Hernandez. Is this Metsblog?
Keith was intense as a player – and it is probably for the best that he has mellowed and is not as high-strung now that he is older and broadcasting. I like the levity he adds to the broadcasts.
Oh, and Markie Post definitely, but I’d toss them all out of the sack for Erin Gray of Silver Spoons.
Why “demons”? Maybe he just enjoyed getting high.
