The following is a parody of Lisa Loeb’s Stay, about John Maine, by Kuff and the Buttheads…
…excellent, job…that first line alone keeps making me laugh - let alone the rest of the song, which is hilarious…

This video is beyond the realm of g@y. This guy needs to get out of the house a little more often.
Furthermore….John Maine is a number 3 starter in the National League. Why are we praising him via song?
If we get Johan Santana…write a song. Anything short, lets just keep it to ourselves.
sure coulda kept that to yourself
john maine stepped up and became a great guy to root for last year, if you saw him in april or the end of the season. Sure he had a lapse, but he’s young, and it was mostly a mental thing, which bodes well for the future. But you only watch the mets when they lose so you wouldn’t know that.
Why keep it to myself? Its a blog….I can say whats on my mind…hence blogging.
John Maine was an average pitcher at best last year. Let’s not kid ourselves. Pitching in the N.L is gravy.
He also has to be yelled at every 7th inning to keep it together and just pitch. Frankly I’m tired of seeing that.
There was a reason John Maine didn’t have success in Baltimore…and no, it had nothing to do with Rick Peterson. It’s because the offenses are too powerful.
I like Maine, but theres no reason in the world to write a stupid song about his success. I’ll repeat…hes a middle of the line starter in a medicore division, and extremely weak National League. Lets all calm down about John Maine.
waaaaaaaaaaaah!
he’s not a 3rd starter in the nl. get your facts straight. oh, you didn’t give any.
there are 16 teams in the nl. going on stats since it would take too long to discuss watching each pitcher in the league maine isn’t a #3 starter
#1 starters: ranked in the top 16
#2 starters: 17-32
#3 starters: 33-48
#4 starters: 49-64
#5 starters: 65-80
maine stats:
era #17 (#2)
wins #8 (#1)
innings #29 (#2)
k’s #6 (#1)
those are some important area in which maine is a #1 or #2 starter in level compared to his peers in the nl.
i’d rank him as a #2 to be fair
youtube is a forum for anyone to post anything, and matt posted a link on his blog, and you told him to keep it to himself… hence my remark. Ordinarily I would tell no one to keep anything to themselves, I was using your lingo buddy. I’d have to agree with the above…
waaaaaaaaaaaah!
Somebody call the WAHmbulance.
I think this guy wants a WAHmburger and some french cries.
wah wah wah, shut your pie hole man, if you don’t care about the video, why would you think anyone would care about what you have to post? At one moment you’re defending your right to bash the video because its a “blog” and the next moment you’re saying this video shouldnt’ be shown. What’s the deal? Oh, I forgot, there’s a double standard for the grand and wholly MetMachine…we’re not worthy, we’re not worthy…haha, get it together. And why not make a funny song about one of the more likable Mets who happens to be a pretty good pitcher? All I know is that I’m a Mets fan, and if I can’t find anything about the team I like, I’d be crazy to spend as much as you following them and posting on blogs about them.
LOL
John Maine is amazing.
He never stops impressing me
Fantastic…
Their song about Xavier Nady is great as well.
Nice parody… and remember, John Maine has been home in the Virginia area all winterlong.
Lighten up people, it’s a parody song and it was pretty darn good too! Nice job Kuff…
MetsMachine, you’re probably the same kind of guy who saw the movie, Borat and didnt like it because “he was such an obnoxious guy”. That….Is….The….Point. The song is funny because it comes out of left field (no pun intended)… Its like seeing someone write a song about Fozzy Bear of the Muppets… Funny.
Hah… His mannerisms in this video kill me…
Everyone forgets that Maine and Perez are only 25, they are just a little older to be considered a prospect. They both are great #2 and #3 starters. If we can get a front line starter ie. Santana then both Maine and Perez wont have as much pressure on them to preform and they will get the recognition they deserve.
Wow, how creepy! A song about John Maine. He must be flattered…
Seriously though, remember how unbelievable he was in the beginning of the year? I hope he stays consistent next year.
The song is terrible…and flaming.
Your all blind homers. John Maine isnt that good. The end.
LOL, why must every fan who compliments a person from their favorite team be considered a “homer?” really.
totally agree, what is the point of being a fan then? If you can’t find something to enjoy even when your down, why bother? John Maine is a good pitcher, is he great? of course not, but no one here is saying that. The song is silly, take it as is MetsMachine, its a joke, get over it, and if you don’t like that its posted here, you know the drill…
Considering I am a Mets fan, I am glad to be a homer for the Mets. The negativity that’s all over the place around here makes Yankees fans look like good people.
the negativity has just cause when your team spits the bit the last 3 weeks of the season, crashes and burns….and the GM hasn’t made a single move to date to improve the club one bit.
All the mean while…we ditch Milledge for 2 bums from a terrible in division team.
And then we raise ticket prickes to go and watch the same group of bums who self destructed last year.
But maybe Carlos Delgado was right….sometimes they get bored of trying hard because their so good. Stick with that….it will get you real far. Just like the Patriots!
What the Mets need going into 2008 is some humble pie. A little “hey…you guys arent that good! so you better come out fighting!”
in your defense “Mets Machine”, all that i will say is, John Maine has only pitched a great half season in the big leagues. No one knows what he will become in the future. I wont jump to conclusions by saying he is a top pitcher in the NL because you have to do it for many seasons before boldly proclaiming him a #2 or #3 starter. Some people say the league caught up to him and others say fatigue caught up to him but we will know a lot more after ‘08.
Give the guy some credit, that song took skill. I’m impressed, and it’s going straight to my iTunes. Props to Kuff and props to John Maine, who by the way, would be a #2 or #1 pitcher on more than two-thirds of all NL teams (DBacks, Padres, Braves maybe, Cubs maybe, and I suppose the Dodgers and Giants maybe would consider Maine their #3 guy).
Kuff and the Buttheads have long made tribute to ball players that make our team great. Ball clubs have players that take all sorts of roles.
Everyone loves Reyes and Wright, but Kuff and the Buttheads give proper respect to players like Xavier Nady, Joe Smith, John Maine, Endy Chavez and much more to come.
Also, if you want to laugh, go to YOU TUBE AND SEARCH FOR KUFF AND THE BUTTHEADS AND JOE NAMATH DRUNK I JUST WANT TO KISS YOU.
