…from what i can gather, the Mets will not have a Media Caravan this off-season, just like they did not do last
off season…which is a bit disappointing, frankly…i always enjoy that day, while getting to hear what every one has been up do, how they’re approaching next season, etc…however, i sense it is just too difficult to get every one together…plus, i suspect it’d just be easier to leave them alone, put last season behind them and officially start fresh in Port St. Lucie…you know, looking forward not back…
…speaking of getting people together, it also appears that the team will not do an official mini-camp, like it had done the previous seasons…typically, the event collects one or two major leaguers and a whole bunch of minor-league players, as well as coaches and media…i suspect it just isn’t worth the aggravation…

Since the middle of September, the Mets have done more to lose me as a fan than I ever imagined possible. I have 0 excitement in this team now, just an anger that hasn’t gone away. Ticket price increases, new stadium, collapse, lack of activity, lack of promotion, just add to this feeling like it’s time for me to give up and move on. My feelings are probably an exception, but I really feel like this organization is playing to a really bad longterm model.
We’re following the path of the LA Dodgers. If we spend enough money to have household names on the field, we can please the wealthy urbanites who will make the stadium a flashy venue. From the third inning, up the 7th inning, there may be a full house, but very few who really have a passion for the team.
Passion doesn’t bring in money the way apathetic wealth does. And it takes a lot less to please the apathetic wealth. I wonder if the Nationals will follow that same model?
>>We’re following the path of the LA Dodgers.<<
Well ol’ Freddie Wilpon has always had a severe hard-on for the Brooklyn Dodgers at the expense of Mets lore (see: Ebbets field replica, Jackie Robinson Rotunda and no strong homage to Gil) so I guess following the path of the LA Dodgers is only logical.
What next? Moving the Mets to San Jose?
Couldn’t agree more with the above ChrisJ comment.
As a life long Mets fan, I feel they have to do something to show they care about what happened in September. The trades so far have been awful.

Just letting everyone know, on SNY now until 4pm is the game with the Mets 10 run inning from June of 2000 against the Braves.
+10
Unfortunate. I actually was able to attend the ending party for the caravan, and got to hang with all the players and their families in a rented out ESPN zone. Great time, met some great people, notably Eric Valent.

If it allows them to come back with their heads dis-lodged from their butts, then God bless. I can’t handle another September 2007.
Call it SKULKING TOWARD 2008.
No major off season moves. (and dont go calling “trading” Millege and Lo Duca for Schneider and Church a “major move”).
No Caravan.
No Mini Camp.
Raised Ticket Prices.
Yep, Omar, thats just the plan to SKULK your way into 2008 with a disgruntled fan base.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FELLOW METS FANS.
