According to a weekend report in the Allegheny Times, free-agent RHP Matt Clement may look to sign with the Indians or Pirates – in an effort to remain close to his home in Pennsylvania.
If you recall, Mark Prior recently signed a one-year contract with his home-town Padres, despite getting ‘lucrative offers’ from the Mets and Rangers.
…it makes total sense to me, especially for these sort of pitchers who are trying to re-establish themselves due to a previous injuries…

wouldn’t mind siging him to a incentive laden contract and hope he makes it all the way back. another soild #3-4 if he can. depth which is something we lack in SP

HERES THE LINK…..
While this is a great site, I kind of agree with the other one’s mantra.
Although, I think Jon Miller either needs to go or find another shirt to wear, preferably one that isn’t yellow with a white collar. Pay attention folks.

Maybe we should start looking for NY/NJ/CT – raised pitchers who have been injured / out of baseball for a while and would like to stay near home as they increase their market value.
Casey Fossum? Al Leiter? John Franco? Pete Falcone? Sandy Koufax?
I think Jim Bouton is still throwing his knuckleball somewhere …
Carl Pavano?
jason marquis? not for endy though
Matt Morris? I’d give up Schneider and Church for him.
Carl Pavano. A true capitalist. Capitalized on the Yanks’ generosity.
Not to mention his 15 minutes in Alyssa Milano.
A rite of passage for any major leaguer.
Ah, that would have been a right of passage for me too, when I was 15. I was in love. Until I was 18 and came to realize I was in lust.
Alyssa, if you’re reading, I’m not over you.
Same goes for prior. Wanting to resurrect career without being in the NY spotlight 24/7. Its good to come to NYC healthy, and productive. Much less so if you have doubts about health and productivity.
…rite. (sorry, I’m sick and not thinking straight)
