Note: Thank You, and Happy New Year
By Matthew Cerrone - Dec 31, 2007 3:42 pm

…first off, tomorrow is the start of a new year…and, wow, i’m very excited about putting 2007 behind us…way, way behind us…while looking forward to the 2008 season…

…lastly, thank you for reading MetsBlog.com…it’s been a great year for this site, complete with a new partnership with SNY and a strong, loyal and growing readership…in fact, MetsBlog.com will crack the two-million hits-per-month mark in December for the first time ever…2008 will mark the site’s fifth year, and i can’t thank you enough for allowing me the continued opportunity to blog my thoughts, experiences and opinions…

…so, here’s to 2008, five years and, hopefully, finally, a World Championship for the New York Mets…

happy new year

    Hey Matt,

Wow. Two million site hits per month. Since all of your readers are providing you with a healthy income, how about more posts with original material and less J/O material about Johan.

    Happy New Year,

    J. R. Dot

    Happy New Year everyone.
Matt, thank you for all of your hard work and for giving us this forum.

By the way, Metsblog is now losing to Fire Joe Morgan over at Bustedcoverage.com
    Unacceptable.

    • J.R. Dot says:

      Well Son,

That’s because FJM is a better blog. Read it and read Metsblog before you get all whee whee go team

      • Number41 says:

        who are you, Jimmy Rollins?

        • kendychavez says:

the people that think metsblog is better than fjm tend to be the people that don’t read fjm. i love metsblog but it’s just the same news you can read at a bunch of other blogs. matt’s cool but it’s not like he’s worth reading like the guys at fjm. that’s one of the best reads on the internet.

        • shlee says:

That’s not entirely correct. Based on the comments at Busted Coverage, there are readers of both blogs that voted for MetsBlog.

      • m00kie says:

I guess I’m missing something, I don’t really get what’s so great about FJM (besides the name of course, though I do get a kick out of Joe’s seeming inability to follow a baseball game and explain accurately what’s happening, it’s actually quite amusing to me and light years more entertaining than the crap being spewed from Joe Buck’s mouth)..

and yes I’ve read it, it’s really just a bunch of witty insults and lots of use of fancy new statistical categories, though that’s probably why people like it so much, it validates the compulsive need to cling to these new stats…

      • JR. says:

yea, and dougiesgoindeep.com is better too…

ladies and mostly gentlemen, i rarely post, but when i do, realize that there isn’t a (dot) after my name and we are two different people.

        Happy New Years everybody
Keep up the good work and Thanks for everything Matt,
heres to a better beginning than last years ending.

  8. Number41 says:

    Happy New Years, ya all.
When you are enjoying your herring this evening, for good health in the New Year, and listing things to be thankful for; thank the heavens you ain’t a Skankee fan or a Braves fan. Because as we all know, then you’d be a darn horses behind!
    LETS GO METS ! !
Lets get it goin’ in ‘08

  9. rosemarymets says:

happy new year to Mets buffs everywhere and thanx to matt and everyone for the site…..may 2007 be a blip in the mets march forward…

  10. ed fever says:

    Matt,

Thanks for the great job you do throughout the year and while the Mets struggled this year, the improvements to Metsblog didn’t go unnoticed…..

  11. m00kie says:

I dunno matt, if you choke away that blog championship on that booze and chicks website, you’re on the hook along with Omar and Willie (we had a huge lead the other day and have totally blown it!!)

;) j/k of course, this blog takes much more of my time than is healthy or profitable (well for my employer at least ;) as any good blog will. I usta have a huge favorites folders loaded with Mets blogs and have whittled it down to a fair few based on this sight overshadowing the rest… this is in no small way due to the rest of you crazies .. as much as I pretend I hate your whining and moaning, I can’t stop reading it!! Here’s to 2008, the last year of Shea, and a World Series Championship I’ll actually remember (I was 9 in 86 and actually fell asleep before m00k beat out that grounder to first (yeah that’s right, he would’ve beat it out!!) and really don’t remember much of that series at all) Hope springs eternal in the heart of a homer fanboy ;)

    • Joe Bacci says:

Great post, my sentiments exactly. Don’t forget Matt, when reviewing the comments on this sight, that for every Mr. Met (what ever happened to that guy) There is a m00kie. And that you are a pioneer of this new and emerging outlet, if you are going to err in judgement, err on the side of the 1st amendment.

I love Metsblog and can’t wait to see it in ‘08.

Here’s to a year of believing!

      HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Matt, and the whole MetsBlog crew, Happy New Year! I’m going to buck the trend and say that I hope that we keep the prospects and do not trade for Santana. I actually think that our team is good enough to win 93 to 95 games as presently configured. Maine will win 15 to 17; Ollie will benefit from having Pedro with the team for the full year, and win 17 to 19; Pedro’s ego will not allow him to leave the Mets on a down note, and he’ll win at least 15; and Pelf will win 13, building on the good end of the season that he had (winning 3 of the last 5 starts he had in the bigs). Who is the last starter? I’d love to say Kevin Mulvey, because I think that he’s got the mental makeup to succeed. I have zero actual knowledge of this; it’s just a feeling. El Deadguy will go to the pen, and do fairly well from there.

Thank you Matt for this website! I find myself reloading this website every 5 minutes at work ever since I found it a few months ago. :)

  20. cver says:

Wow – 2 million hits! Amazing and congratulations and Happy New Year to you Matthew and the rest of the gang. Yes, 5 years and I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy all of your hard work nearly from the beginning. Continued success tor you and let’s hope some of your success rubs off on my Mets!!!!

  21. Steven Hirsch says:

    Happy New Year!!

I truly hope that this will be THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. skip says:

    Happy New Year, everyone.

Be safe, don’t drink and drive, even though the collapse might have driven you to drink.

I look forward to 2008 and no matter what our lineup looks like, I’ll be rooting all out because I am a diehard and have suffered long enough. For all of the miserable seasons the Mets have had over the years, I am glad we have turned the corner. Now on to a championship.

Matt, keep up the great work, I hit your site at least six times per day.

  23. ArmandoReynoso says:

Happy new year everybody… and thanks to Metsblog.com!

Despite some of the “critics” that come on here from time to time, I’m thankful there’s a site like this (a kind of one-stop shopping for mets info), that we, fans, can all look to for the latest Mets news (even if it isn’t always such good news).

Hoping ‘08 is better than ‘07!!!

  24. Two-By-Four says:

    Happy New Year Everyone.

Matt congratulations on the growth of your blog but you could have made a lot more money with a lot less work running a porn site. :)

  25. Charlie says:

Here’s to a great last year in Shea!

Thanks Matt for all you do!

    Happy New Year!

  26. DannyPhantom says:

Best to all in the new year!

  27. Matt,

No, thank you… Metsblog has become my most frequently visited site, and you have inspired me to actually start a little blog of my own. http://www.JMmetsBlog.com

I always give you plugs on there and of course reference some of your info as well…

Have a wonderful 2008! Lets go Mets!
