I really like that trade for the A’s. Swisher who I love(as a player not the other way) had a very bad year last year but is young and very talented. The brought back a great return though with 2 stud prospects in Gonzalez and De Los Santos plus the got Ryan Sweeney who use to be considered their top prospect. They have Carlos Gonzalez to replace Swish or give him another year and sign someone to a year contract seeing they wont be competing this year. Good trade for Billy Beane.

Surprised the A’s traded him considering Beane’s love affair with him.

man that stinks for A’s fans right now. he’s not as good as david but he pretty much fills that role for them- best offensive player, homegrown, fan favorite.

I like oakland so i hope they’re competitive again sooner rather than later. wouldn’t be surprising at all to see them move blanton and street now

Fautino De Los Santos…man, that’s a fun name…just imagine Mex saying that, time and time again in a broadcast…

Wasn’t Gio supposed to be the big pitching stud for the Sox (that they were trading guys to give him a spot in the rotation?)

I didn’t realize Swisher was that good, but honestly, I never looked at him too closely.

A’s are going to be a real young team. Wonder how good though? Might be scary in 2 years or so!

I think hes one of those guys like Yuerismo Petit where everyone expects his numbers to be a lot worse once he’s in the majors because his off speed stuff won’t fool ML hitters..

BP had De Los Santos as their top prospect.. certainly seems like a good haul for Swisher..

Imagine the feeling an A’s fan has for this season right now. Yikes.

Abandon ship in Oakland. I imagine Blanton and Street are next. Reading Baseball Digest link, that seems like a good haul for Swisher.

That brings up another good point, who would rather have Mark Ellis rather then Luis Castillo right now?

Castillo this year, and Ellis every year after that.

Beane just acquired 5 top class prospects with Haren and Swisher, along with 4 other dudes.

If he can net two top players with Blanton… Wow.

This is why he asks ridiculous prices for his players, idiots like the White Sox will give them up.

We have no prospects at the level of Fautino De Los Santos or Gonzalez.

Man I wonder if Heilman and LMIllz could have netted Swisher?

Then we can quitely take Delgado and make him part of the foundation at CitiField and have Swisher as the new 1B

These guys trade guys and end up with better guys.

HOW THE HELL DOES HE DO IT?

De Los Santos and Gonzalez will end up as top class pitchers.

Wow.
