The Giants need big league hitting and have money to spend. So there isnt much of a match besides Wright...

I would be for looking into a deal of Beltran (who the Giants can afford) where the Mets got Lincecum OR Cain and a few of positional prospects.

FM and Delgado, with the Giants picking the whole contract for Cain... I'd think the Giants would want more.

I think he could have a big league career as a 4th-5th starter for a few years, then a middle/long lefty reliever. Terry Mullholland comes to mind, Schoeneweis even...

To be fair, Milledge 12 months ago WAS NOT the crown jewel of the farm system. Try 24 months ago. 12 months ago Milledge's value was as low as it ever was after all his "antics" and supbar production. 12 months ago, I doubt you could have gotten two proven big league players of any status for just Milledge.

I believe the playoffs was the only time Duque relieved. He came into a desperate situation for the White Sox and bailed them out. But its hardly something he ever became accustomed to doing. Other than that I think the only time he's done it was with the Mets in 2007, a couple times.

Its a nice idea if he can replace Heilman, but I just think of every time Gary and Keith would be sitting in the booth laughing because of a late start to a road game when El Duque was so tardy coming in from his warmup.

lol fair enough. I'm not saying he's a big prospect or anything. A lot of guys in his situation don't even become that. But I don't think a ton has to go right for him to become one. I could see him being next offseason's version of Kevin Mulvey, or I could see him being completely valueless two years from now. For now though, a lefty who has good command of multiple pitches and who keeps the ball in the park should be at least somewhat interesting.

Blanton has more value to the A's than almost any team in baseball. The teams that would value him more need to keep thier three prospects rather than have one pitcher because they are going no where soon. The A's need to be blown away, and no one values Blanton that high.

I cant even see a match next offseason when Blanton will be closer to free agency and his value will come down slightly.

So Blanton will stay with the A's for two more years (or 1 year and to the trade deadline) when they will trade him for less as hell have just one year left before becoming a free agent.

mark it down!

I'm not for swapping Heilman and Duque's roles. Both are proven at one thing and a real crap shoot at the other.

Heilman has no more chance of success as a starter than Pelfrey or Humber in 2008. They're all unknowns as starters. Heilman is a proven top set up man and I would not want to mess that up when there is absolutely nothing to gain.

Angel Pagan as a 4th out fielder/bench warmer, interesting hmm....... with a bunch of top prospects and a major leauge talent out fielder in the twins package for Johan ,,,,, and what does everyone think about after that, trading for Matt Morris for a low level minor leauger, and taking on most of his 10 mil, I think Morris was awesome and could regain that status back possibly, and you might think Im crazy, but also trading inconsistant Oliver Perez for a top of the line reliever and a bunch of great prospects, to go along with our 3 top draft picks and keep our minor leauge players respectable. Or something along those lines inorder to give the farm for Santana which we wont regret. (if my original idea of being forced to deal Main/prospects for Johan fails) Either way we have to end up with Santana, no if's and's or but's.
