That being said I remember him hitting over .300 in 2001 when Piazza was on the DL and the mets situation was pretty bleak in the rest of the line-up (see Mo Vaughn and Jeromy Burnitz). I think he was key and did not get enough credit for the strong years he had even if they were short lived...
