By Matthew Cerrone - Jan 10, 2008 2:53 pm

According to Kyodo News, free-agent RHP Akinori Otsuka announced on his blog that he will have elbow surgery.

The Rangers cut Otsuka during December, making him a free agent.

In 236 career relief appearances for Texas and San Diego, Otsuka had a 2.44 ERA while striking out 217 batters through 232 innings pitched.

He finished with an ERA under 3.00 during three of his four major-league seasons.

Nope… I’ve been here about 200 times today waiting to see Buzz: Mets and Twins close on a deal

Unfortunately I’ll probably be back another 200 times today

Why does everyone and their mom have a blog now? Press agents are going to become a thing of the past.

  3. Les Gomez says:

Now that we know the truth about him, offer him a two year deal and hope for the best in ‘09.

maybe if omar performs the surgery we can get a discount

    • Chris Jelic says:

Perfect situation for a two year deal. Pay him a total salary where the Mets do well if they get him back healthy (old form) in 2009, and a bad deal if they don’t.

yup, I’d be on board for that too.

2 years $500-600k / yr. If he only gives you a healthy second half of 2009 then its a good investment.
