I don't recall seeing 1 post that said they wouldn't love to have Johan on th eteam. It always comes down to the cost (players and $$). And while it isn't my money, it does impact "my" team if it means the budget gets cut elsewhere.

For those of you who don't want to do this trade: minor league prospects rarely turn out, they could send the Twins 10 prospects and they'd probably be lucky to have 3 turn out to be everyday contributors at the major league level.

As for Santana, was just doing some research of the last 4 seasons (which were his first 4 full years as a starter). I noted his numbers for Wins, Winning %, ERA, SO, and IP and compared them with other "aces" out there. Santana lead a group of Jake Peavy, Brandon Webb, Barry Zito, Roy Oswalt, Carlos Zambrano, Josh Beckett, C.C. Sabathia, Roy Halladay, and John Lackey. Santana lead this group in EVERY category. He is more than an ace, he is the best in the game hands down. Plus he's only 28 and is known for his workout regimen, meaning that he has an above average chance of staying healthy and pitching at a high level for a long time. Also from what I've seen he's a pretty good guy, friendly with the fans and media, gold-glove fielder, all of it. Make the trade!

Santana might be causing a log jam, but it isn't going to last forever. It is getting to the point where teams can't wait, and if they have other deals on the table, they wil lstart making them.

Same with FAs. At some point, teams are going to grab whats left, and the guys without contracts are going to get nervous and take something.

ANd once the action starts, it is going to happen fast and furious.

Hopefully Omar isn't the one without a chair when the music starts.

ALthough quite possibly, the rest of the available options are so unappetizing, he may be looking at is as Johan, or stand pat. Or maybe offer Garcia or someone like that a deal, just to get some depth.

honestly i think johan is worth what the twins are asking but i also know we can get him for lower. i hope and i think that he will eventually be a met but i garantee they will keep on stalling no matter how much it pisses me off. just get it done although thats not gunna happen for a week or two possibly longer. He will most likely become a met for ovious reasons but i think a guy such as ruben gotay could replace martinez if we stall in our own way. be very interested, persistant and most of all stuborn. He's worth our offer and martinez but bottom line we dont need to give them martinez.

I kind of like him, but for another reason. A few years back I once e-mailed him a Mets question and he actually took the time to not only answer but comment on where I lived (I had signed the e-mail with my name and city) and tell me a story about how he'd been there before. I thought it was pretty classy.

The Yankees want to remove Melky because he's an over-rated pug faced flop with no range. They want Austin Jackson to be their future CF, probably. Plus, it clears up a roster space.

They are done with Santana but look for them to trade Melky to the NL for another lower teir pitcher. (Lower teir compared to Santana). Wouldn't be shocked if they try to pry an Ian Snell or a good reliever from a team. Esp. Demaso Marte or somebody like that. Santana ain't going to the Bronx and the Twins know he won't want to stay in the AL and pitch in those 2 dreaded stadiums. That's why this is going nowhere.

nice to know this isnt just pissing off Mets fans, and Yankee fans, and Red Sox fans, and Twins fans, but also pretty much all of MLB. way to go Santana and Minny...

once the Mets make a new formal offer, if they even feel the need to change thier last offer, the Twins will take a few days to agree to it, shop around for more from the Yanks and Red Sox, then we'll still have to wait a few more days for the contract to be worked out. Its maddening, but it'll be worth it when they get him in the end.
