According to the team’s website, Mets OF Endy Chavez injured a ligament in his knee and his ankle while running from third to home on a sacrifice fly during a Winter-League game in December.
…thanks to Mets Fan in Mexico for the translation…
Chavez hit .476 in six games this winter, but has not yet returned to the lineup.
…although it’s an unfortunate topic, the google translation of the article is pretty funny…
…it appears that either endy doesn’t want to re-aggravate something, or he is still injured…
…hat tip to Mets Prospect Hub and Hot Foot for the link…

As long as he is healthy in 3 months, It doesn’t worry me.
why even play in winter ball? -__-
Because he is before anything: Navegante del Magallanes. He has always been that in Venezuela. That’s where his heart is. Lots of ML players come home every winter to play in their respective home countries. Omar Vizquel, Miguel Cabrera, K-Rod and, Bob Abreu to name a few this year in Venezuela. It also does not hurt that they get paid reasonably well for Latin American standards, to basically keep themselves in shape .
Angel Pagan!
Angel Pagan to the rescue!
Hope Endy will be alright.
And as Endy writhed on the ground in pain, his shouts to the heavens could be heard “SEND ME AN ANGEL” he was heard to scream.
And lo.. an Angel was sent…
I hope wish that angel was named Johan Santana or Eric Bedard.
This is a more accurate translation:
“”Endy Chavez got hurt running from third to home on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning . The outfielder suffered a pulled right corva (Don’t know the medical term in English but it refers to back of the knee, where it bends) and a sprained left ankle.”
This happened almost a month ago. By the way Magallanes did not make the playoffs this year, so it’s been more than a week since Endy potentially could have returned. I’m sure if it was anything major, management would have been unable to keep this under wraps… Riiiiight?
Corva? That’s his hamstring. Sounds like he may be late for spring training.
Being that he’s already had a month to heal, and there’s another month or so until camp begins. I’d think he should be okay. It’s only a pulled hamstring, not a tear or anything. Even so, there’s a good 6 weeks between when camp begins and the regular season begins and as long as he’s ready for Opening Day it’s not that big a deal.
My question, is it the same Hamstring he injured last year? in which case, was it fully healed?
hey guys, remember when endy caught that ball scott rolen hit over the wall in the 06 nlcs? man, that was rad.
Ummmm, no.
i dont recall that either
well look into it. i was there and boy was it cool
i think i just pulled my corva.
