…in case you missed it, from last week…
According to an article on the team’s website last week, Mets OF Endy Chavez injured a ligament in his knee and his ankle while running from third to home on a sacrifice fly during a Winter-League game in December.
A team spokesman told the Associated Press that Chavez is expected to be ready for spring training next month.
…hat tip to Mets Prospect Hub for the link…

I k=like Endy, but it seems like he is living of his reputation at this point. Has he done anything since “the catch”?
Before this injury, i was thinking that he could be a possible chip to include in a trade. He has value as a 4th OF/defensive guy, and I can easily see him getting squeezed out in NY (and is certainly replaceable).
I completely agree…while I like Endy, he is a fourth outfielder at best. A good guy to have on a team, but by no means is a “gamechanger.”
He is a fourth outfielder, but he’s like a playmaker at the same time. You’ve got the catch and the walk off bunt. You’ve also got the Subway Series against Pettite that he hit the game winning home run and threw out Damon at second. I also believe he was involved in the Cubs comeback as well.
He’s a cult hero, fan favorite….I would miss the guy if he wasn’t on the Mets or was injured.
But, if he was the reqired fifth player to get the Santana deal done, would you pack his bags and drive him to the airport?
I’m warming up the car right now.
Have they released the extent of the injury yet? Tear, inflammation, etc?
I guess this helps to explain the Pagan trade.
He is an ideal 4th outfielder and I love rooting for him….
Matt, I know its purely coincidental, but I feel this injury is somewhat contributed to you using the dreaded Health Cross picture yesterday for that blood drive article. Please refrain from using that unless you absolutely have to. ;)
I was actually hoping he could have been traded for Marquis, too late for that I guess. I wonder if there was really any truth to that rumor. Why would the Cubs want him, yet give away Pagan?
why in the hell is he playing in the winter league? really dumb, and bad job by the mets allowing him. now his worth will be less for the season that matters.
