First off, he's too cute to be all the way up in Seattle where I'll never see him, and two this does seem to make the Johan trade easily for Minnesota.

Hankbrenner also said he would never, ever, negotiate with Alex Rodriguez after he opted out. Look what happened there. I trust him about as far as I can throw his fat ass.

I'd rather have Bedard on the cheap and keep a few of our farm team around. I wish Omar would go after Bedard.

Yanks or Sox either for that matter
may be an apple and an orange
or, horrors, you may be right....

. . . I take it that the Orioles were not going to trade Bedard to either the Yanks or Sox because they play in the same division, and the Os were not going to trade with us because of Kris Benson?

Over the past 15 months they've committed....

Aramis Ramirez - 5 yr, 73 mill (14.6 per)
Alfonso Soriano - 8 yr, 136 mill (17 per)
Ted Lilly - 4 yr, 40 mill (10 per)
Jason Marquis - 3 yr, 21 mill (7 per)
Carlos Zambrano - 5 yr, 91.5 mill (18.3 per)
Kosuke Fukudome - 4 yr, 48 mill (12 per)

Yeah, That is 78.9 million per year committed to just 6 players in the last 15 months. There's no way that they can afford to make Johan Santana the richest pitcher in baseball on top of that.

Maybe, but he throws heat and as a closer he would pitch less than as a SU man. In 07, Billy Wagner pitched 68.3 innings in 66 games, while Aaron Heliman pitched 86 innings in 81 games. So possibly I'm not that crazy. Just a little. Plus, I'm not a Wagner fan.
