Wish I could’ve watched Matt on SNY tonight, but apparently Marist College doesn’t have SNY in our stations which really pissed me off. Anyway, if the Mets don’t go to the world series now with Santana within 5 years…there’s obviously some curse, because if the missing link was a good starting pitcher and we got the best in the league, there’s no reason we shouldn’t. The puzzle is now completed.

So around 4:30 this afternoon I turned on my car and heard the sound of those two idiots tring to spin this trade. Mad Dog says that he doesn’t trust Johan in the big game. Tool! Then I got sick of those mooks and turned on 1050., big mistake. Kay’s first five callers, 4 yankees d-bags and a Braves fan. My one criticism of this trade, leak the next big trade in the AM or early afternoon. I much rather have heard Carton pop another Hemmeroid then hear those three morons. Imagine Beningo? Probably got so excited that he walked up to Tom Brady and kicked him in the jimmy.

Omar…you the man.

the more i think about it, the better this trade looks.

gomez may be good, but probably won’t ever be very good
humber may never be better than a 4/5 starter
guerra may never be better than a 3/4 starter
mulvey may never be better than a 4/3 starter

santana is a hall of famer entering his prime.

W-L record is the worst stat to look at determining a pitcher’s year and if he is losing his ability. W-L’s are based on the number of runs his team puts up around. He could pitch a 1 run complete game every time yet lose because he team puts up no runs. That was the deal with Johan last year.

Lets compare 2006 to 2007

2006 (19 – 6)
GS – 34
IP – 233.2
ERA – 2.77
K’s – 245
BB’s – 47

2007 (15-13)
GS – 33
IP – 219.0
ERA – 3.33
K’s – 235
BB’s – 52

Yes he had a higher ERA but his K’s and BB’s were right on track. His WHIP was a 1.07 in 2007 which is right on with his career which is a 1.09. He had a 1.06 in 2006. With all this in mind he wasn’t that off from a normal Johan year.

As usual he makes it about the Yankees.

I am a guy who believes in Gomez and Guerra, but you need to give up to get talent.

I also think it’s way early to say that Pelfrey won’t turn out well; I’m happy he’s still around- and now won’t be rushed.
