It’s not the connection to the winter league teams, because none exists, it’s the timing. They never pull players just to pull them.

1) mlb teams put limits on thier player’s participating in the winter leagues and pull them out at random all the time.

2) its not unusual for a player in a winter league to keep on playing for his team when one mlb team trades him to another mlb team. He may leave to take a physical, and come back if the new team allows him to. But the winter league teams have no direct connection to a particular mlb team.

Pedro would def like to end his career here. He’s not the type to care whether he’s #2. He wants to win and to share his knowledge. I hope we get to keep Guerra. Imagine him coming up in a year or two with Johan and Pedro as his mentors. WOW.

just devil’s advocate here, but if the plan is to get Gomez x number of at bats you can’t hold him out in the “regular” season hoping he’ll reach the total number of AB in the “post” season because you can’t be sure he’ll get there.

i am going to miss coming here every am for my “CUP of JOE-HAN” to start the day…..but at least there will be other topics to discuss..

i hope he is a met soon….and for the people out there who actually think the mets want to hold off on a deal because of superbowl concerns/taking the spotlight……no way….you do what you have to do, and waiting could leave you lost……if there is any angle to that any way, i think the twins would prefer it to happen now because the superbowl could deflect a little attention since they will have a pr job ahead of them as all teams who deal a star do…the team getting the star usually wins the deal at first, time tells if the other team got even, better, or robbed

Heiman/Church might actually hurt us more now than in the future because you’d be losing a solid set-up man and the lefty bat we need in the corner outfield. However, for the future it would be a decent move but I guess at this point you’d have to be willing to give up what the Twins want most.

It’s possible but not likely. In the Twins eyes would Church/Heilman replace Gomez or Martinez? That is the question that would have to be ask. I would rather give up Gomez and Heilman and hang onto Church and Martinez myself but……
