Read: Final offer Requested by Twins
By Chris Mazzone - Jan 29, 2008 1:32 pm

Marty Noble at MLB.com cites ‘a person with firsthand knowledge of the club’s dealings with the Twins’ as saying they have requested a ‘best offer’ from the Mets.

Noble goes on to write…

“The Mets can’t know if the same request has been made of other clubs with interest in Santana or, for that matter, whether other clubs have maintained an interest in the two-time Cy Young Award winner.”

…with how much is at stake, i’d be surprised if the Mets had been giving anything less than their best offer by now...

Twins beat writer Kelly Theiser adds the following in another piece for MLB.com

“The Twins have stepped up their efforts in the last 48 hours to get the teams involved in trade talks to make their last and best offers.

If the Twins feel that none of the offers is acceptable, they could prepare to head to Spring Training with Santana and wait to see if a better market develops for the left-hander.”

…it’s looking more and more like the Twins have finally committed to bringing the saga to an end very soon, one way or another – stay tuned…

      He means
“Now we’re really serious, so could you please throw in F-Mart so we can feel better about this?”

What is this “Deal or No Deal”???

if this WERE deal or no deal bill smith would be that red neck that says no deal to like 700K bc he still has the 1,000,000 case on the board and begins pumping his fists and getting the crowd into it then he opens the 1 mill and suddenly the offers start going down and then he decides hes going to ride it out and ends up with 10 bucks in his case.

I know my job monitors internet use/activity. Today, my GM e-mailed me something called “cube matrix” in a spreadsheet. I thought for sure it was the web surfing i did from my cubicle. I was already thinking of excuses.

Turns out it was a product pricing matrix or something. I haven’t done a thing today but refresh matt’s page about 200 times

  6. 86onemoretime says:

No way am I throwing 3 goats into that deal.

I’m cool with giving them season tickets, but not the goats. We may need them come September.

  7. cbusmetsfan says:

We all want this to end with Santana a Mets but then what will we cry and moan about until the season starts? I guess we can then turn our attention to the 25 man roster, the pitching rotation, and why willie Randolph stinks. Come to think of it, these conversation topics are much more appealing than this never ending Santana crap.

  8. Why would the creator (of metsblog) stop posting on santana, it usually gets 10 times as many blogs as any other topic.

  9. nyleetch2 says:

Chris, you say that the mets have had their best offer in now for a while. But wouldn’t it be more likely that the mets have had the offer in that they feel should get it done? If they decide now that that offer won’t get it done but adding such-and-such player will, are you saying you dont think theyd consider doing that in order to push the deal through?

  10. MDMetfan says:

I guess they could throw in the goats…why not? Since we really don’t even know what the offer is, lets hope we don’t get hosed too badly and end up with 5 or 6 for 1.

  11. Pedro says:

I have a bad feeling about this. If he’s not a Met soon, it probably won’t happen. The more time that goes by, the less likely he becomes a Met

    can’t…….take……..any……….more………..aaaaarrrrrgggggghhhh!

Scotty ,do we have warp drive yet??

I might pee in my pants, and my ability to focus at work for the remainder of the day has gone by the wayside.

    Cmon Omar!

I like the deal if they don’t have to include FMart in the deal. Highly unlikely though… :( Thought he could be another of the Reyes – Wright farm system products.
