Mike Pelfrey doesn't have to have the pressure of living up to the "ace" expectation that he was faced with when the mets drafted him and paid over slot. And for Pedro, Ollie Perez and John Maine, Same situation.....They don't have to be "the guy" for the mets to be successful. A lot of what this does is take the pressure off a lot of players of the new york mets. Also lets not forget, We get to watch Johan Santana in blue+Orange. Don't know about you guys but i was so thrilled i didn't get to sleep until 5' O clock in the morning....Ok so maybe I am too excited. If you think about it, after Sabathia, Perez is probably the second best LEFT handed starter available on the free agent pool. If he pitches like he did last year - or BETTER - he is going to command somewhere between $50- $60 million I would imagine. Now if he sucks, what are the chances that Met fans are going to want to keep him? So to me, either way, Perez is going to demand a lot of dough. I think we all will be alot happier when the ink is dry on the contract! I still have the worry in the back of my head that something could go wrong but I Know in the end it will be ok. So please Omar go get the contract signed already so we can really celebrate!
