(that was a huge accomplishment, believe someone who was rooting for them back then) You cannot imagine the impact that Seaver had on this team when he arrived in '67. Yeah, the team still sucked, but he was a star and you knew it immediately. By '68 we were back in 9th and then came '69. We might not have had an ace the last couple of years but we had some decent pithcers. Before Seaver came in '67 we had as our stud pitchers Al Jackson, Jack Fisher and Dennis Ribant. Seaver gave us credibility when we had NONE. here’s where the Mets were prior to Seaver’s arrival in ‘67

Last in ‘62
Last in ‘64
Last in ‘64

Think about it guys. If they were really far apart in the negotiations, don't you think they would have been granted another 24 hrs. at least. Two hours tells me they are very close and may have actually agreed on terms already and just need time to draw up the contract or fill out some additional paperwork. I'm just gonna sniff the can of semi-gloss paint I have in the shed till it's settled! No...I'm not nervous. Not worried at all. Think about it guys.
