So when it says "Omar came back and said, ‘Listen, we’re gonna put this kid Guerra in the trade.’…" -- that means that the initial offer was Gomez + Humber + Mulvey. No wonder the Twins said no to that.

Now, look at all the posts from a few weeks ago -- not one of them said that the Mets offer was just 3 players; most of the comments were talking about adding F-Mart to Gomez + Guerra + Humber + Mulvey.

It's a good thing that nobody here is on the Mets' front office staff...

‘Listen, be ready, this will come back to us.’

The opportunity will present itself again. I don't think it meant that Omar was so wise to know that the Yanks would drop out, although I think it was obvious the Sox only participated to drive up the price. (How could you pay 21 M for your number 2 starter?)

Also, I don't think that Omar knew he would be able to execute the trade, but he knew that the Twins would give him the opportunity to make at least one more credible offer.

I think he meant "they" would come back to us, meaning the Twins.

By the way, they let Matt sit down at a desk druing is minute last night. They should really call it "Metsblog Minute" or "Confidence Poll Crapshoot" since that is really all that is discussed.

You can then have a backdrop like the old Kiner's Korner. I would love to hear Kiner commenting on the confidence poll...what a riot that would be.

By the way...anyone notice that Gary needed to know where the camera was at all times. What a ham!

Why can people not understand why ticket prices went up?
1)Our ticket prices were cheaper than most in the area.
2)This is the last year of Shea and people will pay to see it either way.
3)We have a new stadium next year. Ticket prices would have doubled next year. So inorder to lessen the shock next year they made a gradual move this year. Raise it by 25% this year and 30% next year instead of 50% at one time. As much as we are complaining over this increase imagine if it was all of a sudden double next year.

It just means that the Yankee's and Sox never really wanted Santana and the contract. They were playing keep away. All 3 teams made low ball offers and Omar knew that he would have the opprotunity to make his best offer before the Twins made the trade.
Or maybe he knew something with Santana by way of Castillo if you like consipracies.

This makes Minaya sound like a bit of a sage. It will come backj to us must have meant that he knew all along that the Yanks and sox would drop out neventually and the mets will be able to put together thebest package and that he just had to wait it out. Clearly if Wilpon had his way he would have tried to make it happen at the winter meetings when it looked like the mets had no chance. I think Minaya deserves credit for knowing he could wait on this deal to happen.

PS- cant't wait for the press conference.

Give me a break with the ticket price raise....Everything in this world is getting more expensive, and the Mets just made a huge investment in the best pitcher is baseball, while I understand they did this before Santana was in the fold, at least we're getting something more for our money

I am guessing that Omar saying "it would come back to us" meant that he knew or had a feeling that the Shanks and Sox really didn't want or need Santana, they were just in the negotiations to keep the other one from getting Santana.
