why was I not told about this yesterday? Instead of going home and listening to this I went to taco bell and ate with my grandma WHY DID I NOT HEAR BOUT THIS!

    • LetsGetMetsmerized says:

Wasn’t there an essay posted yesterday about how posts like this will be removed?

      • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

my comment DOES pertain to this post, If someone told me about the interviews going on today I would not have gone to taco bell with my grandma, whats your point LGM?

  2. GravediggerHebner says:

During the M & MD show today, Chris revealed that Mike had a colonoscopy this morning. I wonder what was worse for Mike, the colonoscopy or having to go to Shea Stadium to cover positive news for the Mets.

    • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

ewww all that diet coke and micky d’s. I wonder what’d be worse for the doctor, having to listen to him yap yap yap and yap the whole time or eating mikes “waste”

    • Slob says:

Doctors said the colonoscopy revealed the source of what has been ailing Francesa and his listeners for years. Doctors found a hollow growth deep inside the rectum, periodically emitting bursts of hot air. Doctors believe the growth is Francesa’s head.

    • jdon says:

I heard a couple of the interviews. I could not take it any more. Mike interrupted every answer. He cut in on every sentence the poor slob being interviewed uttered. The man lacks any sense of self awareness.

  3. GravediggerHebner says:

Chris Russo just said “I’m not stupid, I can read.”

Well I learned 2 things today.

  4. icedrake523 says:

I’m surprised Santana agreed to go on. No one must have told him they’re the two dumbest people he’ll ever meet in NY.

  5. JNGordon says:

And Russo tried the best he could to try and get Santana to say he thought and wanted to go to either the Red Sox or the Yankees. He didn’t even list the Mets among the choices.

After Mike prepared for today’s procedure, he became half the man he was.

    • chicowalkersucksballs says:

Q: “On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being ’somewhat disappointed’ to 10 being ‘very’, how disappointed are you that you wound up on the Mets, instead of the Yankees or Red Sox?”

  6. Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

after hearing willie basically put all the blame on milledge for losing and calling gotay “1 dimensional” I realize Willie is the one true hole on this team (and maybe the pen) also after hearing how he said he would do NOTHING different if he could replay last season makes me to believe he dosnt want to change for the better.

    • rosemarymets says:

silly will sure sounds smart to me……..NOT

    • zen says:

here we go. some mets fans will never be happy.

    • k-mets says:

You are right that he called gotay “1 dimensional.” However, I disagree with regarding Willie.

I believe that Willie does care about winning. I believe that the quotes can be misleading. He has certain composer and attitude. Additionally, there is no answer when Mike put the blame on Milledge. I guess you could take it one way or another.

Let us keep an open mind. We got Santana, he did said that the thought of last year is on his mind and so is the player. Let us see how the team reacts to his managing after the disaster of last year.

      • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

willie is a bad manager no doubt about it. Im scared that he will hinder the mets chances of winning a championship while we have this great group of players. Don’t say Mets fans will never be happy, every team has a weakness. Don’t go saying I’m just whining to whine, every team has a weakness and Willie seems to me as the only true weakness now.

        • k-mets says:

I do not think you are whining. To me Willie can be a weakness but I strongly feel that he has learned from last year. But that does not stop me from worrying until everything is clinched. I think the weakness is bench and bullpen.

        • zen says:

you don’t just complain. you actually don’t know what your talking about.

gotay is one-dimensional. if that. he hit well for 2 months in his career (minors and majors). terrible fielders. decent baserunner.

as for milledge, his behavior was inappropriate during that marlins series. it led to a ball thrown at castillo’s bad knee and a huge brawl including reyes and olivo.

        • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

terrible fielder? id say avergage fielder, eve if he his “1 dimensional” you still do not say that by basically calling out your player. bobby cox has NEVER spoken badly about player to the media. Lets not forget in 2 straight games against your main division rival in the 9th inning 2 players got thrown out and he did not DO A THING! it would have been nice to see him try and light a fire under them, especially since that was the series that started the collapse you’d have to think that got in the mets players phsyce. ALSO although milledge was a bit showy during the series it was not his fault. hes basically put the loss in the NLCS on lo duca and the loss to the marlins on the milledge. NOT ohhh i dont know sending up an injured lefty goin for the big hr, or oh idk GLAVINE willie is bad for this club

      • Saltzy23 says:

I was a tad more concerned that 3 people(2 of the supposed ‘NYC sports media pros’ and the MANAGER of the club for Christs sake) took a minute to think of the name of our backup second baseman. I mean call me an idealist, but I would think that ONE of them(preferably the MANAGER!!!) could remember the name. I was screaming GOTAY!!!..as they rattled off A-Hern, Easley and God knows who who else until Francesa finally got it right. Willie…..baby….please tell me you can go through your own teams roster without having to see it in front of you…..right?….please?

        • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

i saw that too, russo also called gomez 19 yrs old

        • k-mets says:

(Applause) You’re right! The manger should at least know the names of his players!!! But you know what, I guess Willie doesn’t like gotay.

And Zen may I ask who you are referring on your comments.

        • zen says:

          directed to gary coleman…..

yes. if someone says to you “you have that little guy at second base” you should know who they’re referring to b/c the mets don’t have a bunch og those: castillo, anderson, easley, gotay.

some mets fans need to be unhappy. manager isn’t that important in mlb. mets just got santana. can’t the complaining wait until game 3.

willie will be fired if the mets aren’t very good this year.

        • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

i am not unhappy AS A I STATED ABOVE IMO willie is the only true weakness this team has now after acquiring Santana. If you ask me, having only a bad manager and everything else decent and up is pretty damn fine. It’s just without hearing him for a few months I forgot how truly annoying he is.

        • Saltzy23 says:

Easley’s not even on the TEAM anymore(not yelling at you, yelling at Willie)…and A-Hern did NOT have a “solid year last year”….I just cant believe he couldnt figure out it was Gotay. Either he forgot his name(BAD), or couldnt figure out who they were talking about(REALLY REALLY BAD)

Im one of those “You ca tell a lot by looking at the details” people. Im sorry. When your manager is giving an interview and the question is “Yadda yadda backup second baseman? Yadda yadda solid year?”….and you cant pull the name from your head? This scares me, and I LIKE Willie…

        • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

          Easley is on the team……

        • Saltzy23 says:

          You’re right…and Im a hypocritical idiot….

          I forgot they resigned him….

Thank God I’m not the manager huh!….

        • GravediggerHebner says:

I’m sorry I wasn’t here while this conversation was ongoing because I have a theory that I don’t see here:

I think the reason that Willie did NOT name Gotay when asked about his backup second baseman is because in his (Willie’s) mind, Gotay is NOT his backup secondbaseman.

I think he may have revealed something that he didn’t intend to, which is that he’s seen enough of Gotay and is not satisfied with him in that role and intends to use spring training to suss out who the backup will be.

I believe Willie also said something along the lines of “the kid will really have to impress” to make the team.

          Just a theory.

        • zen says:

milledge and gotay were the two less than serious guys who reyes played around with on the bench. don’t be surprised if gotay isn’t on the team this year.

        • Gary Coleman Is My Father says:

yup, the mets organization only likes players who do not speak their minds, be quiet, and are reserved. if you have any fire/passion (milledge/lo duca) ur gone sooner than mota blew a game.

  7. utah53 says:

leave it to a mets fan…we can see the poop lining in every silver cloud

  8. xmulderx says:

There is no denying Willie is a bad manager. The most die hard Met fan can’t hide from this. But that being said i hope he improves in 08. But he should be gone regardless if they win a world series.

  9. larry bearnarth says:

Having watched the press conference on SNY , I then switched to YES, to see MBFOTSH and the rabid mongrel in all their glory at Shea. Can you imagine the look on Hank Steinbrenner’s face when he was told the Johan Santana Press Conference at Shea with pictures of Citi Field was on the YES Network, the official network of champions. MBFOTSH and the radid mongrel are so negative when it comes to our team . Probably the only reason they were there was because of the carvings , shrimp and pate that was served. When they interviewed Jeffy did any one catch their statement about getting a break with Reyes contract last summer. Jeffy just shrugged it off. Then when they spoke to Omar and Willie they insisted about bringing last September——”oh the team has to be reminded of it” Listen to these two clowns and you will be reminded of it every day !!! The best was when they spoke to Willie and they alluded to Ruben Gotay, and MBFOTSH starts swinging and says the little lefty (I though he was talking about Alvin Jackson ) and Willie is clueless !! And then the coup de grace (as far as this Yankee Hater is concerned) is when MBFOTSH refers and compares Ryan Church to Paul O’ Neill. If Willie was not dumbfounded and a little embarrased at that point he would have told Fatso where to go.

  10. metsomniac says:

was it just me or did fat boy and weasel do everything in their power to try to scare Johan Santana?

(paraphrasing)’ how do you feel about pitching for fans that disect every move?’ ‘did you know that many players strugle when they get here?’ ‘must be scary when you see a big press conference like this… jsut wait till the season starts.”

how many times did he have to say that he wants to pitch in New York. that he’s excited to pitch in New York and for the METS.

god i hate these guys… but yet i can’t stop listining to them… it’s like a sore in your mouth that you can’t stop playing with.

    • kingrw says:

      that is very funny.

those two pompous fools have really mastered the art of making a statement that appears positive about the mets, but is completely laced with sarcasm and demeaning.

and another classic RUSSO : he has been bashing Santana for coming out of the 18 strikeout game, and when face to face with the many, pussy foots around the question. Santana gives him a legit answer, and he gives him the big OK.

BUT YOU KNOW he will be bringing that up again down the road….
