During the M & MD show today, Chris revealed that Mike had a colonoscopy this morning. I wonder what was worse for Mike, the colonoscopy or having to go to Shea Stadium to cover positive news for the Mets.

Doctors said the colonoscopy revealed the source of what has been ailing Francesa and his listeners for years. Doctors found a hollow growth deep inside the rectum, periodically emitting bursts of hot air. Doctors believe the growth is Francesa’s head.

If only we could cover him with a canvas bag and lock him in a basement for 30 years.

I heard a couple of the interviews. I could not take it any more. Mike interrupted every answer. He cut in on every sentence the poor slob being interviewed uttered. The man lacks any sense of self awareness.

I’m surprised Santana agreed to go on. No one must have told him they’re the two dumbest people he’ll ever meet in NY.

And Russo tried the best he could to try and get Santana to say he thought and wanted to go to either the Red Sox or the Yankees. He didn’t even list the Mets among the choices.

After Mike prepared for today’s procedure, he became half the man he was.

Q: “On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being ’somewhat disappointed’ to 10 being ‘very’, how disappointed are you that you wound up on the Mets, instead of the Yankees or Red Sox?”

after hearing willie basically put all the blame on milledge for losing and calling gotay “1 dimensional” I realize Willie is the one true hole on this team (and maybe the pen) also after hearing how he said he would do NOTHING different if he could replay last season makes me to believe he dosnt want to change for the better.

You are right that he called gotay “1 dimensional.” However, I disagree with regarding Willie.

I believe that Willie does care about winning. I believe that the quotes can be misleading. He has certain composer and attitude. Additionally, there is no answer when Mike put the blame on Milledge. I guess you could take it one way or another.

Let us keep an open mind. We got Santana, he did said that the thought of last year is on his mind and so is the player. Let us see how the team reacts to his managing after the disaster of last year.

willie is a bad manager no doubt about it. Im scared that he will hinder the mets chances of winning a championship while we have this great group of players. Don’t say Mets fans will never be happy, every team has a weakness. Don’t go saying I’m just whining to whine, every team has a weakness and Willie seems to me as the only true weakness now.

I do not think you are whining. To me Willie can be a weakness but I strongly feel that he has learned from last year. But that does not stop me from worrying until everything is clinched. I think the weakness is bench and bullpen.

you don’t just complain. you actually don’t know what your talking about.

gotay is one-dimensional. if that. he hit well for 2 months in his career (minors and majors). terrible fielders. decent baserunner.

as for milledge, his behavior was inappropriate during that marlins series. it led to a ball thrown at castillo’s bad knee and a huge brawl including reyes and olivo.

terrible fielder? id say avergage fielder, eve if he his “1 dimensional” you still do not say that by basically calling out your player. bobby cox has NEVER spoken badly about player to the media. Lets not forget in 2 straight games against your main division rival in the 9th inning 2 players got thrown out and he did not DO A THING! it would have been nice to see him try and light a fire under them, especially since that was the series that started the collapse you’d have to think that got in the mets players phsyce. ALSO although milledge was a bit showy during the series it was not his fault. hes basically put the loss in the NLCS on lo duca and the loss to the marlins on the milledge. NOT ohhh i dont know sending up an injured lefty goin for the big hr, or oh idk GLAVINE willie is bad for this club

I was a tad more concerned that 3 people(2 of the supposed ‘NYC sports media pros’ and the MANAGER of the club for Christs sake) took a minute to think of the name of our backup second baseman. I mean call me an idealist, but I would think that ONE of them(preferably the MANAGER!!!) could remember the name. I was screaming GOTAY!!!..as they rattled off A-Hern, Easley and God knows who who else until Francesa finally got it right. Willie…..baby….please tell me you can go through your own teams roster without having to see it in front of you…..right?….please?

And Zen may I ask who you are referring on your comments.

directed to gary coleman…..

yes. if someone says to you “you have that little guy at second base” you should know who they’re referring to b/c the mets don’t have a bunch og those: castillo, anderson, easley, gotay.

some mets fans need to be unhappy. manager isn’t that important in mlb. mets just got santana. can’t the complaining wait until game 3.

willie will be fired if the mets aren’t very good this year.

i am not unhappy AS A I STATED ABOVE IMO willie is the only true weakness this team has now after acquiring Santana. If you ask me, having only a bad manager and everything else decent and up is pretty damn fine. It’s just without hearing him for a few months I forgot how truly annoying he is.

Easley’s not even on the TEAM anymore(not yelling at you, yelling at Willie)…and A-Hern did NOT have a “solid year last year”….I just cant believe he couldnt figure out it was Gotay. Either he forgot his name(BAD), or couldnt figure out who they were talking about(REALLY REALLY BAD)

Im one of those “You ca tell a lot by looking at the details” people. Im sorry. When your manager is giving an interview and the question is “Yadda yadda backup second baseman? Yadda yadda solid year?”….and you cant pull the name from your head? This scares me, and I LIKE Willie…

I’m sorry I wasn’t here while this conversation was ongoing because I have a theory that I don’t see here:

I think the reason that Willie did NOT name Gotay when asked about his backup second baseman is because in his (Willie’s) mind, Gotay is NOT his backup secondbaseman.

I think he may have revealed something that he didn’t intend to, which is that he’s seen enough of Gotay and is not satisfied with him in that role and intends to use spring training to suss out who the backup will be.

I believe Willie also said something along the lines of “the kid will really have to impress” to make the team.

Just a theory.
