To watch a video of Johan Santana speaking with SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt, during today’s press conference, go to
.
During the interview, Santana said…
“Pedro Martinez is one of my favorite players. I have learned a lot from him, I have a lot of respect for him. I’m very happy to be on this team with him…It’s gonna be exciting…We have the talent to go all of the way to the World Series, that will be our focus and I look forward to that…Whatever it takes, man, we’re ready for it.”
Speaking of Santana, according to Ken Rosenthal in an article for FOXSports.com, the present-day value of his deal is $123.1 million, not $137.5 million.

Mad Dog, again, just now denied the fact that Santana wanted to be a Met. The caller said that Castillo commented that it was true and Mad Dog said he doesn’t believe it, he thinks the Mets just lucked out.
He doesn’t believe Luis Castillo quotes and Jon Heyman’s research over his own opinion? Great.
Torii Hunter also said it…nevermind Metsblog.
Fatcessa ate the Cloverfield monster.
I have to think that they are only repeating that to rile up Mets fans. It’s been reported nearly everywhere that Santana wanted to come to the Mets. I think they know it, they just say otherwise to stir up the fans and bring attention to themselves.
I dunno — he sounded pretty sure of himself and it came just a call after he went over the NL East and wondered what Freddy Garcia would give the Phillies this year.
He’d also been talking about Shawn Green signing with the Phillies until a caller said “I think you mean Geoff Jenkins.”
who cares where he wanted to go… let alone where someone he never met until today thinks he wanted to go. He’s here. and he’s going to be here for a while. Just like Beltran. I don’t care how much you hate NY our fans, living in the city, or the color of our uniforms as long as you help us win games.
Hampton hated it here and won us a pennant.
btw, I really think Santana likes it here, I am just trying to make a point.
Huh, did he re-sign with the Phillies? I thought nobody picked him up yet. And even if he did, isn’t he not due back to pitch until AT LEAST July?
Yeah. That’s the point. He has no idea what he’s talking about.
So basically, he researches NOTHING before he speaks. Awesome.
Apparently the Mets did have some leverage and Santana did not hold all the cards, eh??
If the report is true, that is a looong way from 7 years $25M everyone thought the Mets were helpless in offering…
So, does the fact that David Wright was so prominently on display at today’s Johan Santana press conference mean that he’s been annointed as the unofficial-official captain of the Mets?
