you don’t really think he’s apologizing from the bottom of his heart, do you?

you konw, if cheating to make fortune and fame is forgivable so long as they “apologize,” (and that’s only after they get busted) why don’t everybody do the same? there are (at least I want to believe) a whole bunch of guys who work honestly hard to get to places without cheating. and there are guys who don’t cheat, and as a result of that, they get their positions taken by those who do cheat. what does, then, forgiving those cheaters make these hard-working guys? a bunch of naive morons?

forgiving is great. one of the best things human beings can do. but sometimes people forgive too easily. these guys are public figures who have more responsibilities. that really needs to be considered. otherwise there’s not going to be an end to athletes’ wrong-doings; you know that they think all they have to do is apologize by reading documents that are prepared by someone else and shed a couple of tears

falcon4e, you hit upon perhaps the most salient of all points here. players aren’t sorry that they became rich beyond their wildest dreams by taking steriods. they are sorry that they got caught. period. this is perhaps why the “apologies” feel so empty. to paraphrase from Dave Chappelle, I’m rich b****.

pettitte said he took hgh and he’s not losing his contract for the 2008 year. want to why? because it happened in the past. you can’t be in breech of contract for something you did before said contract. paulie should have just said it, instead of danced around it. for crying out loud, we all saw the canceled checks!

I don’t care about Paul LoDuca. I just wish he would’ve apologized in December when he was caught dead to rights. LoDuca is a guy who you can argue owes his career to steroids. LoDuca made what.. 30 million as a professional baseball player and by the looks of it, he owes a good chunk of it to the steroids. So maybe LoDuca isn’t sorry, but I understand LoDuca’s position. He made a lot more money with the steroids then without it.

He made the choice many of us would’ve made. I just wish he would’ve apologized sooner.

Also, I’m confused. So you’re saying that if you do something wrong/break the law you shouldn’t *apologize* because then you would have to face the consequences of your own actions and that wouldn’t be right? That’s what you’re saying, right?

Huh? So this guy deceives people and cheats at his job and he owes no one an apology?

Why were fans supposed to know about all of the steriod use in baseball? You name some people where it *seems* fairly obvious but with Lo Duca, Pettite, Brian Roberts…we were all supposed to know?

Lying is lying and cheating is cheating. You think that just because others were doing it means that it is right for more people to do it?

So I guess you think that if one of your co-workers steals money from the company you work for, you should be able to steal too? AND you shouldn’t have to apologize to anyone! Unbelievable…
