In his blog for the New York Post, Joel Sherman writes, “Orlando Hernandez absolutely should stay in the rotation.”
According to Sherman, the Mets are better suited by
Hernandez remaining in the rotation, with Mike Pelfrey getting as much work as needed in Triple-A – so when Hernandez, or Pedro Martinez get hurt, Pelfrey will be ready.
…of course, it all depends on pelfrey, and how other relief pitchers fair over the next few weeks…however, aside from that, speaking of style, i just feel like el duque’s game and brain will translate and serve this team and his health better if pitching from the bullpen…that said, letting pelfrey get a full season of work in triple-a is appealing as well…
Sherman’s post also contains his thoughts on what may be next for Roger Clemens and baseball.
For more on El Duque’s arrival to Mets camp yesterday, read Bart Hubbach in the New York Post, David Lennon in Newsday, and John Delcos in the Journal News.
Tagged Orlando Hernandez |The following video is from ESPN’s Jayson Stark, reporting on Tom Glavine, his first day at Braves camp and the importance that golf has played for the Braves during the last 15 seasons…
…i’m a bit worried…glavine looks very happy, and comfortable…also, the word from Braves camp is that Mike Hampton will be ready to start come actual spring training games, meaning they could have their front four of glavine, hampton, John Smoltz and Tim Hudson all healthy for opening day…of course, who knows how long that will last, but, if it lasts long, it will be a very good staff…
