    Nice.

looks more like the back ends of the front end of the rotation…

    • mets17 says:

What do you guys think they are holding in those bags? They are already wearing their gloves. The only other thing I can think of is water or something.

      • Volume11 says:

        Mangu.

      • MrMetsChild says:

If it is anything like my bag of pitching goodies. It probably has a towel for towel drills, weighted balls, and other personal items that they would need at practice. Also could contain running shoes for that foul pole to foul pole jogging. But then again, I am not a major leaguer and I am not a Met. Hopefully not a bag full of B-12 shots……….hahaha.

I want to frame that picture and hang it up next to my TV.

    oh what a beautiful sight!

Anyone else read the Daily News article with Hank Steinbrenner already crying about not getting Johan Santana? Its great. I feel bad for Brian Cashman if Phil Hughes doesnt pan out or the Yanks dont make the playoffs. He will be screwed! Hank really wanted to trade for Santana but Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner talked him out of it which is why I now love them both. We now have the best pitcher in baseball and nothing could be better!

    • cpatrocks says:

They’ll just have to keep playing with their WANG!

      • Gaspar says:

IIRC Cashman was not offered a contract extension. The Yanks just won their arbie with Wang and did not offer him an extention either. Where do these guys go if the Yanks don’t keep them? Do you think the Mets would make an offer to Wang?

        • darkstar73 says:

dude, Wang has 3 years of service, he’s with the yanks for 3 more years before he’s a free agent.

    • The Captain says:

Well if the teary eyed Hank has second thoughts, we’ll think about giving him Perez for Hughs.

how great is it to NOT have glavine as our opening day starter? wow, what an improvement!

  6. Kalihan42 says:

    I’ll take it!

Still shaking waiting for the start of the season … It will be great having these 2 for the first 2 games – but Olliver Perez will end up with the best stats on the team and will win the NL Cy Young this season!

Given the picture used it would have been more appropriate to say “Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the rear ends of the front end of your 2008 starting rotation.”

  9. metsin080910 says:

gutterkizmet, if you are right which i highly doubt…..then you can say goodbye to Oliver because his agent is Scott Boras and if he wins the NL Cy Young… Boras and Perez will demand at least 18 mill a year and I doubt the mets will be interested in re-signing him for those numbers. I think Oliver will have a good year, not as good as Santana who i think will win the Cy Young or Martinez who will have a great bounce back year. Anyways, if he does have a good year (15-17 wins, mid 3’s era, 190+ strikeouts) Boras will demand 15 mill per year, which I think the Mets can afford for 4 years. Every Met pitcher will have a good year this year, I can feel it.

    • gutterkizmet says:

I wish Boras would die personally. As I have stated a million times … I am now a Met fan (since 2006 – when Ollie became a Met) I will follow his career wherever it takes him – Hopefully if he leaves the Mets it will be another East Coast team so I can watch him pitch.

Boras will send him to the Yankees anyway…

The new background of my desktop….just look and smile

Same here. Great to see those names side by side, hitting the trenches. We have every reason to enter this season with confidence. I am not worried about Santana’s adjustment one bit. Being Santana, regardless of playing Minnesota, he had plenty of exposure to the media. Yes, the day-in day-out will certainly be different, but it will never be at an A-Rod level. Think of it this way, Santana pitches every 5 days, while A-Rod bats every day (4 times a game). The pressure is great, but not as bad as some may think.

Johan is great. Met fans need to remember this, and not turn their backs or boo him at the first sign of a hiccup.

      • Gaspar says:

He seems to be pretty mellow under the glare of the NY media. I think he will be able to handle the pressure and not have a rough first year like Beltran did.

    i’m in love :)

  13. Volume11 says:

Its taking everything I have not to open an account on beer leaguer and post this picture with a snide caption. If I were the Braves or Phillies that picture would deflate any hope I had of my team doing well, let alone beating the Mets in the standing…that picture sums up why its so great to be a Met fan this ST.

    • KinersKornerman says:

Volume 11, Do it. I double dog dare ya.

      • Tapeball45 says:

        Triple dog dare

        • Volume11 says:

Nah, I’d rather not have to frequent that site…ever. But I know if I were a Philies fan and saw that pic I’d be upset…

        • Volume11 says:

The vibe on that site is dismal at best. I just checked it out (I actually like the site and love the rivalry, which is why I won’t troll over there) and there is almost nothing to report and apparently he won’t be covering ST…

  14. BSMITTYFDNY says:

Our two aces, heading to work. I love it!

I’m very happy right now. :)
