you know i’d hate to admit it but noble is right about beltran talking the talk now he has to walk the walk. but i disagree with his assessment with his comparisons of the 70’s mets and yankees.. the deroulettes and M Donald grant restricted Macdonald from going after high priced talent – it wasn’t until fred and nelson came in that they openly started to compete with the yanks on a financial level
btw
saw randy andys press confrence – i just knew he was gonna play the god card – and playing the aww shucks im just a stupid hick act – he knew what he was doing – hes still covering his tusch !!! and fatso and fruit loops of course fall for his schtick!
the god card.. ahaha. and i dislike noble
am i wrong mr met?
look everybody has their right to believe or not to believe in a god – i personally don’t and i don’t cast aspersions on anyone that does – my wife is a “cafateria roman catholic” and we don’t judge each other – i just find it cowardly that he hides behind this
I don’t think he was “hiding behind” anything. The only time he brought god into it was when he was talking about his reasons for ‘telling the truth.’ He didn’t ‘hide behind’ god.
no youre right. i’m just really tired of multi-millionaire pro athletes “making mistakes” and asking forgiveness to god; when are they going to learn? i think god’s got other things to be worrying about. i do give credit to pettitte though for putting himself in front of everybody and apologizing and taking hard questions, unlike paul lo duca, and he did seem to be very sincere. but at the same time it’s also worng that some people/media seem to begin treating him like a hero somehow
i dont think we really need another 100+ mil even it is another ace. it’s possible martinez will be ready to play left feild in 2009 but not neccisarily likely. i know we should be thinking about 2008, but in 2009 church, snieder, and martinez wont really be anywhere close to top of the order so i doubt church or martinez can really bat 6th. we need a true clean up hitter! texiera would be perfect to replace delgato. and vlad gurrero has a team option for 2009 but could possibly be a free agent in case martinez isnt ready. dont get me started on pitching. haha. but garland can possilby be a free agent. i believe he has an option but we need a good #2. even if we do resign pedro he’s not gunna be #2 caliber. maine i see as a #3 but #2 if needed. i’d love to have perez long term but ill leave that up to omar. el duge is probably done with the mets so we’re going to need somebody. this is all very far away but im just saying. =]
i would love to see fmart next year (fingers crossed) im just worried about oliver perez being reped by boras – weve been as fans and an organization loyal and fair to him i just hope we don’t get screwed when f/a comes along next year
Garland a number 2? Thats funny, more like a decent number 4.
Noble is completely wrong that Reyes had a bad September, and that’s it. Reyes actually had fewer extra-base hits in August than he had in September, even fewer in May, and a lousy 317 OBP in July. Basically he had two good months out of four.
If you want to cherry-pick Reyes’s numbers, instead of ignoring September (as Noble suggests) and seeing what you get, why don’t you ignore April and see what you get? 267/338/390. 61 SB, 18 CS. Not nearly good enough.
