Shhh: Buy Phillies Tix before Phillies Fans
By Matthew Cerrone - Feb 20, 2008 10:32 am

as usual, the Phillies sent fans a back-door link via e-mail to purchase single-game tickets in advance of tomorrow’s official sales date

To access the link, and purchase single-game tickets to Citizen’s Bank Park before the general public, click here.

thanks to CoreyNYC for the link, and god bless the blogosphere…

As noted in an earlier post to MetsBlog, according to their Facebook Group, more than 500 Phillies fans are planning a ‘Take Over’ of Shea Stadium during the Nationally-televised Phillies-Mets game on September 6, because they are ‘sick and tired of stupid Mets fans taking over Citizen’s Bank Park.’

For what it’s worth, the Mets travel to Philadelphia on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, both of which are Nationally televised games.

Update10:40 am

…MetsBlog’s Brandon Eddy has already gathered 24 Mets fans to attend to the Saturday, April 19 game, which will air on FOX…they will be sitting in Section 421…

additionally, another reader of this site has organized 40 Mets fans to take a bus to the same game…

…so, if you’re thinking of buying tickets, go Saturday…maybe we can get a MetsBlog tailgate going

…this is going to be a crazy season, isn’t it…oh, man

I already have a bus of 40 Mets fans going to the 19th game, let’s get a couple of more groups going and we’ll own the place

    • kowalski69 says:

i want to talk to you about getting some more buses

    • mrmet828 says:

It’s on Passover!! We need to do another date too! Someone call Fox and tell them to move the game!!

    • Saltzy23 says:

Wait CoreyNYC sent this link? Ill go, but I dont wanna hear his b*tching when Willie takes Johan out in the 7th for a PH….

      Just kidding…

Just got seats on the LF line downstaris….cant wait….lets take that f*cker over!!!!

      • coreynyc says:

Maybe I can help you with a math lesson so you can figure out why there will be tickets available at CitiField.

        • Saltzy23 says:

          C’mon Corey….loosen up bud…..live a little….

I would expect more out of you here too….that was pretty weak….

  2. wowww, i just want july 4th tickets and some to see the red sox. it’s usually not hard to get tickets at CBP, and they have reasonable prices, i live around here so i should know. i’d love love love to go to april’s game, esp. the sunday night one.

Do I hear a Metsblog.com Day at CBP?

    • coreynyc says:

I would have been there but 4/19 is the first night of Passover, so all the Jewish Mets fans can’t make it.

    • Tampabay13 says:

Just got tickets to the game on the 19th, bought the cheapest ones because the cool thing about CBP is you can stand on the lower level even though you bought the cheap seats. Last year stood right in back of the handicap section all game… Im in for a tailgate and a victory party at Show & Tell…

  4. GravediggerHebner says:

Here’s something else Met fans should do: demand that SNY do what the Red Sox network NESN is doing right now. They have live cameras, mics and reporters at spring training. I just watched David Ortiz take some swings and Josh Beckett throw off a mound with Theo Epstein watching dutifully. ALL LIVE! 2 hours every weekday morning. Come on SNY get your you know what together and give us die hard Met fans what we crave, LIVE MET COVERAGE!

  5. robmenna says:

I have 8 tickets to the July 4th and 5th games front row, left field loge section. Pat Burrell will not want to play another game after we’re through with him

  6. Slimting says:

Let them come to Shea. Nothing would make me happier than seeing their sad little faces when the Mets start beating the sh*t out of the Phillies on national TV none the less.

  7. robmenna says:

Any mets fans want to join us, contact rshay1@yahoo.com. He is selling pretty much that whole loge section at a reasonable price.

  8. coreynyc says:

I got my tickets for 7/4 & 7/5 last night.

    As an FYI…

For 7/4 I found the best seats still available to be in the Terrace (312-329) sections. I’ve sat in these before–it is the front rows of the Upper Deck hanging (equivalent to Upper Box at Shea, but somewhat closer to the field…more like being in the Mezz). I got seats around 1B here.

For 7/5, the choices are dwindling. You can sit in the 300’s in RF or the 400’s if you want to sit in the infield (this is what I chose). I think ScoreBoard Porch in LF is still available too (its in the 200’s and is not a horrible place to watch the game and includes $10 to spend on food/drink).

  9. kowalski69 says:

IM ORDERING 10- TIX AND IT TIMED OUT WHEN I WAS SUPPOSED TO ENTER MY CARD INFO ARGhH

  10. Mista Met says:

Matt put me down for the MetsBlog tailgate just let me no what I have to do.

  11. dykstra1971 says:

I got my 2 seats for April 19th in Section 310 Row 17!

  12. METS08WSCHAMPS says:

They can say they will invade Shea on Sept 6th now, but when they are 20 games behind the Mets, Philadelphiaers will show their true colors and it will be eagle football time.

  13. mbeli says:

Got 4 tix to the April 19th game, cant wait for the tailgate. It’s gonna be ugly epsecially when Beltran blasts a 3 run jack off beat your wife Myers!

  14. metsfanbrad says:

I got 5 tickets sec 423…where is this tailgate going down at? Cerrone please try to get this organized…

  15. kowalski69 says:

    Announcement:

On Saturday, April 19th. Kowalski will own Citizen’s Bank Park Section 307, Row 6, Seats 13-22.

    Matt,

Put me and 9 lunatics down for the tailgate.

    IT’S ON

  16. Bel-TRON says:

I just got 3 tickets for April 19th!!!

    section 245 row 3!!

woohoooo, screw the phillies!! lets take over their territory

  17. AnneM says:

I got three seats for July 4, field level, third base side. Last year we sat in the first row of the scoreboard porch–they were pretty good seats and the $10 food coupon made it well worth the price. Hopefully we’ll get to a few more games at CPB this year.

  18. zen says:

phillies fans couldn’t plan somthing before september 6. nice sense of urgency. let’s hope the phils are 10 back and those seat go empty

    • KHOFFLER says:

I got 2 tix for April 19th sec. 418 row 4! This is gonna be a blast. I am so down for a Metsblog tailgate it’s not even funny! We need more info, so lets get organized!

  19. jonjonn says:

dont wanna jinx nething but if johan pitches on opening day in miami and then again for the shea home openner he will be on turn to pitch this saturday game in philly as long as the 5 man rotation is set and there are no injuries. i just bought 5 tickets section 423.

  20. bigchart333 says:

dude u guys with ur SEATS are crazy…i been to philly the last 2 years, and the PLACE TO BE IF YOU’RE A METS FAN IS STANDING ROOM, RIGHT BY THE BULLPENS…ALWAYS at least 40 of us there!!!

with that said, i personally have 7 people coming with me that i bought tickets for, and another 4-8 on their own credit card!!

if u wanna get crazy and own that place, GET OUT OF YOUR CHEESY LIL SEATS AND STAND WITH THE REAL FANS!!!

also, yes, i STRONGLY suggest we all pick a spot in the lot and have a MONSTER tailgate…start at HIGH NOON!!

    who’s in??

    • kowalski69 says:

im likeley going to start at 9AM

    • statnut says:

Cheesy lil seats? Easy there big guy.

      • bigchart333 says:

bro im tellin u…it’s like a party. Ever been to a stadium with standing room? It’s the best. Even Matt said it, he’d probably be walking around the standing areas in Citi.
And bro, you’re taking offense cuz i said “cheesy lil seats?” Are u 10 years old? Stay in ur seats, then when u hear the insanity by the bullpen and say “whats that, whats goin on over there, holy cow look at all the mets fans there” come down and chill with us for the rest of the game

        • kowalski69 says:

i will ensure that the insanity will be in section 307. Tell Jimmy Rollins I said that.

        • statnut says:

First off, I have been in a stadium with standing room, and while its cool, I’d rather have a seat than stand the whole game. Guess I’m not a real Mets fan then, huh?

  21. bigchart333 says:

ALSO, we need to buy tickets to that september 6th game!!! We can go INTO philly all we want but LETTING THEM INVADE US IS ANOTHER DIFFERENT STORY!!! THE MORE TICKETS GONE FROM METS FANS, THE LESS THEY HAVE TO BUY!!!

  22. dykstra1971 says:

Matt, I would definitely be in on a tailgate! A bunch of Mets’ fans tailgating at Citizen Bank Ballpark would be awesome - checking out the pitching rotation (assuming it would be Santana, Pedro, Maine, Perez, Duque), The series for the 3 days would be Santana, Pedro, and Maine (may have to flip flop Pedro and Santana) - But that is not too shabby!

  23. fsa3 says:

I got 8 tix for the April 19th game… I’m down to tailgate as well!!

  24. mapap says:

Just got 8 tickets for section 417….. ready to tailgate now!

  25. cuervo says:

got 4 TIX, Sec 138 row 16. Going to make sure Alou has no trouble catching any balls down the left field line.

Matt.. add 4 to the metsblog tailgate!!

    • Saltzy23 says:

See ya there man….same Section 1 row back….(guess were the only ones that hit the ‘Best Available’ button….

      • statnut says:

I did, but got section 307. Weird.

        • Saltzy23 says:

I tried 2 and got Sec 135….called my pops to ask if he wanted in…..tried 4 and got Sec 307…..settled on 3 and got Sec 138….screw the one person….gotta look out for #1, right?

This is a small sample size, but WOW…..there will be a lot of Mets(bloggers) fans down there….

  26. kowalski69 says:

According to the poll that was just taken down… 500+ readers bought tickets. I know they didnt just buy one ticket.

    I bought 10.

If HALF of the people that said they bought tix actually did and assuming its 4 per person thats 1000 mets fan there at least because of cerrone.

  27. cgroovin says:

who cares if they come to shea? it just means they are helping us pay for santana and company. =)

  28. murphdo817 says:

    I got 5 tix in Section 307 Row 19!

Are we all meeting by the bullpen and hanging out there?

  29. murphdo817 says:

    I’m going on April 19th

  30. murphdo817 says:

Let me know if we are going to meet to tailgate on April 19th … I’ll bring some beers

    • kowalski69 says:

      a case of 500?

    • Saltzy23 says:

Im Jewish….but one religion comes before all others….take a guess which one……cmon, guess…..Ill be the one screaming ‘SHALOM!!!’ when DWright gets hold of one….I’ll see you guys there on Saturday

aaaaand most likely hell as well…..just so long as Im wearing a ‘08 WS Mets Championship tee shirt its worth it…….

  31. murphdo817 says:

    kowalski69 … I’m bringing 5 Mets fans to Section 307

We have to take over that section! Actually … lets take over the Park!

    • kowalski69 says:

dude a rough estimate of at least 60 of us are in 307 from the people that posted where they got their seats at. if they (phils tix office) made a conserted effort to keep the mets fans in one section they did us a solid!

  32. ScottN says:

Mondo thanks to Corey and to Matt! My family and I have a tradition of following the Mets wherever they go for July 4. I was worried that we might get shut out or have to pay big prices for this game as I needed 7 tix this time. With some persistence, I was able to get out of the nose bleeds and get some decent seats in the 400 section. Never would have done it witout MetsBlog!

Hopefully the Mets will be up by 20+ games by July, as I’m bringing my 3 and 7 year olds to this. Will likely be a slightly different atmosphere than Colorado last year–and hopefully a different result for the Mets (boy, they got clobbered…).

    Thanks Again!

  33. robmenna says:

All the Philly fans are going to see September 6 is their team battling for 2nd place with the Braves.

  34. murphdo817 says:

Big thanks to Matt for letting us know.

    I’m so psyched …

  35. NYCESQ says:

Matt, can you start a poll to find a quick tally on the amount of Mets fans going to the April 19th game?

  36. Metsfan707 says:

Im looking for transportation down to Philly, is anybody organizing a bus trip down there, just me and another guy. Im 16 and hes 19 and we dont have a car.

    • kowalski69 says:

chinatown bus tours 20 bucks round trip thats how im getting there. look it up on google

      • Metsfan707 says:

Sounds good. Put together that tailgate Matt. Maybe you could get 660 to broadcast from the tailgate.

  37. metsfanmurph says:

A Metsblog tailgate is a tremendous idea. I wouldn’t mind sharing a few cocktails with Mets fans in Philly.

  38. metsfanbornin86 says:

Myself and 3 of my friends (4 tickets total) will be buying our tickets later on tonight for 4/19!

Also encouraging ALL of my Mets-fan friends to get in on this before tomorrow!

DEFINITELY down for a metsblog tailgate! Matt, please keep us posted on the numbers and the possibility.

  39. garveysc says:

The passengers of the 40 person bus will be sitting in section 302.

  40. tfc3rid says:

    6 tickets in Section 235…

  41. Fregosi says:

Metsblog fan in Delaware here. Sounds like fun. Two comments to those of you who have not been to CBP. Leaving the game is a nightmare. They open only 2 gates to get out of the parking lot after the game. Count on sitting for about an hour and a half unless you leave early. Second, as soon as you hit Broad or Packer Ave, the cops will pull you over for DUI in huge numbers.

    • coreynyc says:

I’ve gotten right out of the lot on 3-4 occasions. We always park near the 1B gate and make sure to watch the end of the game from behind 1B

  42. DAK442 says:

4 of us, section 306. This is gonna be sick!!

  43. bklnmetsfan says:

    add 3 more, sec 306, row 8

we’re down for the tailgate too!

  44. drdirt says:

This is absurd… I love watching Mets fans have to cry their way home to North Jersey.

  45. BMets says:

i just bought 5 tickets for the july 6th game….couldnt go to the april game

  46. 15MetsGirl5 says:

    I hate the Phillies.

  47. skylog says:

just wanted to throw it out there, but i am more or less getting them fired up on the facebook group. i think we should overtake their group. it would be hilarious.

    • Piazza45 says:

ok, so is this tailgate party going down for April 19th? If so, we have to figure out which lot because I think they have seperate lots for tailgating. This should be great.

    • BMets says:

Skylog wats the facebook group called haha

  48. philliesnation.com/archives/2008/02/phils-tix-on-sale-now-buy-buy-buy/

we can start that tailgate later!

  50. mnytx7 says:

Just picked up two tixx for the 19th…Section 416 row 3….Never been to CBP so not sure if the location is all that great, but i really don’t care. ……Can’t wait!!

  51. RememberTheMaine says:

Two more in Section 301. I’m taking my 8 y.o. daughter. We’ll see the liberty bell in the morning, then help the Mets take over CBP in the afternoon. That’s what I call an educational day….

  52. sheabren says:

Got 4 tix for section 313. Let’s go Mets!!!

  53. kapnasty says:

Hey I’d like to hook up with a group of people who are going to go to the game. Email me at kapnasty@gmail.com.
