In MVN’s Take the 7 Train, Jessica Bader lists Five Reasons I Love Being a Mets Fan.

At Hot Foot, Dan Lerner links to a fictional, yet funny, piece about Ron Swoboda.

At their blogs for the Star-Ledger and Newsday, Jeremy Cothran and David Lennon point out Billy Wagners new training routine, which involves throwing a football.

ya know what, i was taught to do the same thing…also, i would throw a soaking wet softball, which would make throwing a baseball seem like tossing a feather…of course, i have to believe that was not very good for my arm…not that that mattered much in the end…

…by the way, hat’s off to cothran, who chose a screen capture of Tecmo Super Bowl for his blog post…for those too young to know, Tecmo Super Bowl is the greatest football video game ever…sorry, madden

Lastly, at Always Amazin, Matthew Artus gets philosophical in his reaction to Nicholas Hirshon’s column in the Daily News about the dying tradition of waiting outside for tickets.

Tecmo Bowl was the greatest football video game, and Bo Jackson was the most dominant video game athlete of all time

  2. statnut says:

Correction, Tecmo Super Bowl is the greatest football game ever.

I have to call it a toss up between the two. Tecmo Super Bowl was the superior game, but the original was the ground breaking one. You have to give serious credit to the original Tecmo just because it opened the door for the improved Tecmo Super Bowl edition.

I’m just thankful that I blew about 5 years of my life on both … 5 years I don’t regret a single play of … well, except for that horrific Jack Trudeau floater that got picked off in a playoff game, but that’s another story …

Tecmo bowl? Hmm. I dunno. 13 teams, LT blocked every extra point and Field goal, Nobody could defend the slant pass.

Now Tecmo SUPER bowl, that was a great game. All 30 teams, stats, actual season and playoff schedule.

You could not lose if you used the Bears and “Sweetness.”

    • SamInNorthCakalakey says:

Also, Super Bowl had the ability to create players and allow them to develop. Very Cool.

Those games were based more on fun game play rather than the sabermetric games that EA Sports puts out now.

      • gomets6091 says:

haha I don’t know if I’d call current EA games “sabermetric.” In my Madden franchise, more than half the QBs in the league post passer ratings over 100 and running backs run for 2,000 yards regularly.

But I will agree that Tecmo Super Bowl is the greatest sports video game of all time. A few years ago, my college roomate bought a Nintendo for like 20 bucks and got Tecmo Super Bowl, and we played out almost an entire season, before the game stopped working around Week 14.

Agreed, Tecmo Super Bowl was by far the best game ever. Madden’s a great game though.

  5. AzMetsFan says:

great game along with Nintendos original Ice Hockey and RBI baseball. So basic, yet so fun.

  6. navevdog says:

where do you get rbi baseball desktop edition?
not just getting an emulator and rom?

    • SamInNorthCakalakey says:

It is a ROM game but it’s fully functional. Saves games, seasons, and allows for network play.

  7. hojo20o9 says:

http://www.virtualnes.com and you can play any old game you want.
