Note: Rotoworld, and Fantasy Leagues
By Matthew Cerrone - Feb 22, 2008 9:40 am

According to Mike Harmon of FOXSports.com, in a column ranking players for fantasy baseball, the Mets have the third best shortstop in baseball, the second best third baseman, the second best outfielder and the best pitcher.

…by the way, i just purchased the Rotoworld Draft Kit, which recently won an award from the Fantasy Sports Trade Association…honestly, for me, i tune in to them for Aaron Gleeman and Matthew Pouliot, who i trust a lot

To purchase the Rotoworld Draft Kit, click here.

…two years ago i won my league, which is 19 years old, includes major-league and minor-league players, and has 14 teams…last year, however, i finished dead last in what was essentially a re-building season…so, this is a big year for La Cosa Nostra…

by the way, if guys you want to organize MetsBlog fantasy leagues, as some of you have done in the past, use the comment’s section for this post

i’m an experienced player looking for a regular 5×5 rotoleague with 12 to 14 teams. let me know if you guys need any owner.

ive done head-to-head (blah), a 10 team league (too easy) and a league with like 12 categories each for pitcher and hitter (yes, i won that one too).

  5. Matt,

You should start up a roto league with the winner getting tickets to a game at Citifield next year. We can throw in like $25/team. You can post the daily standings next to the NL east standings on the left column during the season….

    What do u think?

    • I’m more interested in a league that will be tracked on this website and consist of managers that are avid Metsblog.com readers… if someone sets that up, I’m in!

      • jedimynd says:

i doubt matt would set that up on his site. also, what would be the cut-off for owners? we would need a lottery to see who joins the league..lol

  7. SamInNorthCakalakey says:

I’m in a league where 3 spots are available. It’s one of the Yahoo sports leagues. I’m not the GM but I would like those spots filled. The owners email is here (hope he doesn’t mind).

(spun like the one above) eye dta @ hot mail . com

Just put the above email together and put in the subject line “Fantasy League” and he’ll respond to you.

  8. CR says:

I’m interested – been in leagues for about 10 years and definitely a great idea to do a competitive league with other Mets fans and Metsblog readers. Pls email me at christopher.a.ryan@gmail.com

man, I really suck at fantasy baseball, which is surprising considering I spend at least an hour a day on baseballreference.com, and can cite statistics like nobody’s business. I just don’t have the attention span for fantasy baseball: changing the lineups every day, moving hurt guys to the DL, picking up new players. By mid-June I always start to slack off. Fantasy football is so much easier: just set the lineup once a week.

By the way, totally off-topic, but did anyone else get an e-mail from Mets.com telling them they won the lottery to buy tickets? I was so miserable coming to work this morning, but ever since I got that e-mail I’ve been in the best mood.

just registed. hopefully we get the 14 to start. if not, i think 12 is ok as well if you have to change the setting.

come on guys, lets do this. a league for mets fans.

  16. dcmetsfan says:

I used rotoworld and baseball notebook last year. I felt that BN was a tad better, though their pitching forecasts tended to the overly pessimistic side. I switched to Baseball Prospectus this year, and my friend who won the league used it as well (though he won three times previously, so maybe it’s not the BP that guided him to victory).

RW has some good articles. I don’t think I am going to sign up simply because I don’t think I can justify spending money on two subscriptions again, but they’re pretty good.

I am definitely interested and in the process of starting a Yahoo league myself. I will be keeping everyone posted… Very active managers are welcomed as well as trash talkers – as long as it doesn’t go overboard (no yo momma jokes… hahaha)

  21. Ryn5 says:

The league I just looked to join is full, so I’ll post again.

Looking for a roto league, 12 or more teams, normal rules more or less.

Been playing fantasy baseball since 2002, with a high success rate. Always active to the last day.
