I left it out because I was replying to the idea of “dominating”, and giving up 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 1/3 is not , in my opinion, “dominating”, regardless of only giving up 2 runs.

I watched him too and while I was hoping that I’d see something better from him, to me it was just more of the same. I wish I had seen what you had.

hype nothing .. I’m talking about what I saw with my own eyes. Why did you leave out that in the next game when he gave up those 10 hits he only gave up 2 runs? Because it didn’t support your argument? That actually makes it a pretty well pitched game I’d say.

I’m not judging on just that one game. I watched him all season, and I saw him grow over a long season of adversity. The upgraded rotation will take some pressure off of him, and I think this could really be the year he turns the corner. YMMV of course.

When did he show he was capable of dominating? That one game? The next game when he gave up 10 hits and 2 walks (striking out only 3) in 5 1/3innings?
There are plenty of crappy starters out there who have had great games in the big leagues.

Now I am NOT saying he is going to be crappy. I think he will be good. But I also think he needs more time in AAA. My point was that one good game vs. the Braves and then a bunch of mediocre or worse games after that is not, in my opinion, turning the corner.

The #5 starter isn’t needed til April 19 – so as long as Duque’s no more than 3 weeks behind, it’s not a big deal.

I would expect them to go north with 11 pitchers (4 starters, 7 pen) and 14 position players.

Well, he already turned down a contract offer from the Phils of 7mill for 3 years. No idea if it is still on the table, but it might be looking OK right about now!

he is young, talented, and has shown that he is capable of dominating. So I will believe the hype.
