This morning in Port St. Lucie, the Mets and Citi will unveil the
official logo for Citi Field at 9 am, after which the team will play an intrasquad game on Field 7 (the Citi Field replica) at 12 pm.
According to an announcement over the weekend, the following pitchers will throw during today’s practice game:
Joselo Diaz, Robert Parnell, Jon Niese, Adam Bostick, Joe Smith, Ruddy Lugo, Steve Register, Juan Padilla, Duaner Sanchez, Ivan Maldonado and Andy Cavazos.

…i think it’s pretty obvious that all eyes will be on duaner…there is no getting around it…
Willie Randolph, talking to reporters yesterday about Sanchez…
“This guy was one of the better set-up guys in the game a few years ago. If he bounces back and gets anywhere close to that he’s going to help us tremendously…The key for him is being healthy and facing hitters, getting out there and facing guys, because it’s a different feel.”
To hear from Sanchez, check out the Daily News.
…also of note will be padilla, who had two arm surgeries over the last year…the buzz from camp has long been that padilla will need more work, and may not be ready until after the season starts…but, this should be a good indicator of where he is truly at…
Also, Carlos Beltran, Luis Castillo, Damion Easley, Endy Chavez, Jose Valentin and Ben Johnson, among others, will not play in today’s game as they continue to nurse random injuries.

not sure..but when you go to the bottom of the mets’ official site, to the citi field part..theres some sorta logo..is that the official one?..if so, it sucks
Yikes, that is it based on the description. Pretty boring. Just the Citi logo in the blue diamond with an orange piece extending to the bottom right with “Field” in white.
No way … that can’t be it.
Man … you guys are right. I can’t believe that’s the best they can come up with. I can do better than that in my sleep.
OK, where is the logo? I have seen a couple articles saying that they have unveiled it, but no picture?
Its on the left… eh, I don’t really like it too much..

the Logo is on the Mets Site, in pictures of the exterior of the stadium. Its the Citi Logo (white letters with the red arc over the letters) and the Field in orange, its very corporate and quite awful
I think that’s just what they’re sticking on the outside of the stadium. You can see the logo itself on the lower right hand side of the page - it’s the one with the “Citi” in the blue diamond and the orange extension coming out of it that says “Field.”
I have no idea why anyone was expecting anything different. Of course it was going to be based on Citibank’s logo. Not much you can do with that.
I’m a graphic designer. Trust me, there is a lot more you can do than just plopping Citi’s logo onto a blue square and calling it a “logo”. I understand it’s a bank and they want it to look minimal … but this just looks lazy.
What would you have done?
The first thing that comes to mind is a nice line art silhouette of the stadium, incorporated with the citi logo on the top. There are lots of possibilities that can look very classy.
I thought along the same lines, but if you silhouette a bird’s eye view, you’re basically ripping off the CBP logo; and if you silhouette the stadium in profile, who knows what you’re going to get (can anyone honestly say there’s going to be a distinct, singular facade to this thing that would be instantly recognizable in the abstract?).
If anything I would have done something that incorporated the arched windows and/or pillars, but considering all the different applications this logo is going to have, I think what they came up with is fine.
Yeah the arched windows or pillars … exactly what I was picturing in silhouette form. I mean, I didn’t put much thought into it, that’s just the first thing that comes to mind.
But yeah … I know they want to keep it as simple as possible, and Citi probably has a lot in terms of say for the logo as well. They probably demanded that the “citi” logo be prominent … so when you’re dealing with a bank who’s paying you, your hands get kind of tied on creativity, I guess.
I think Domino’s Pizza would love to partner with Citi Field after taking a look at that logo…
