I will be Port St. Lucie from Saturday, March 1, through Friday, March 7, live blogging my experience at Tradition Field.
…if you have any questions about camp, game day, the
players, practice, whatever, that you’d like to see my answer, let me know via e-mail and i’ll do my best to track them down…
Also, on Saturday night, March 1, me and few other bloggers, as well as 20 or so Mets fans, are planning to hang out at Duffy’s Sports Grill.
…if you’ll be in St. Lucie, and would like to hang out, send me an e-mail so i can put together a rough count…

Duffy’s has great wings.
Will be in PSL on 3/3 with my Metsblog t-shirt.
Duffy’s does indeed have fantastic wings. and if you are there at the right time, their 2 for 1 drink specials are pretty nice as well :)
Great place. Went there after a spring training game a few years ago and found some Syracuse fans to watch the BYU-Cuse game with.
I was there the year after I guess. I was there to watch the UVM-’cuse game. I was there with my dad since he won the trip down on WFAN and I had a vested interest in the game as I had just signed the paperwork to attend ‘cuse. Needless to say, we lost which sucked, but the wings were amazing and the price was pretty good too.
Just out of curiousity, I might be totally missing a very obvious link to it or something but where can I purchase my very own metsblog.com t-shirt?
They used to sell them through this site but I don’t see the link any longer. You might try emailing Matt.
Alright I might have to take that approach. Thanks for the response.
You should stir up trouble and ask Heilman if he thinks he deserves to be competing for a spot in the rotation during ST ;P
Hey Matt, I will answer that call. March 1st, Duffy’s, I’m there dude.
If you get a chance, ask why in this age with so little pitching, especially in the bullpens, all teams do everything they can to limit the amount of work their starters get, with this over insistance of pitch counts. How did starters go 100 years being able to start 40 games a year of eight to nine innings and not get hurt, and yet now they are limited to 30 starts of mostly six innings and guys are always hurt.
I actually saw something about this over the weekend. I think it was Koufax who was asked about it and it was mentioned in Newsday. I think Koufax’s point was about how organizations are far more careful because they do not want a guy to blow out his arm before he gets to the Majors. By doing this it really hurts the length they can go into a game.
Dj, they are far too careful. If they do not throw, there is no way to build up the arm strength needed to not blow out an elbow.
will there be a designated driver? rick petersen perhaps?
and what hotel is he staying at?
if i go i have to be responsible.
I will b there. i will b there for the weekend. see u at duffys.i sent you an email matt. ill b in a STRAW t-Shirt.
I’d be intersted to know who the players consider their rivals as top NL team(s); without all the politically correct BS.
That would be a serious assignment that only one blogger could get to the bottom of.
Matt, you are that man…
I hope to be at Tradition Field on March 5th. I would be the kid with a sketch book in hand hoping for some autographs. Any word on whose pitching/playing that day? I hope to also go to opening day and see the Santana era officially begin.
santana is pitching on the 5th i think…..
and i think the way it works out pedro will be pitching the home opening, unless you are talking about the season opener in florida
i mean santana is one of the scheduled pitchers… idk how many innings they usually pitch in spring training…
aaahhh not the 5th i meant March 1st! this Saturday!
I’ll be in FLA from 21st till 27th. Where do fans hang out?
i’ll be there from 21st thru 23rd… first time at spring training. let me know where you end up going, maybe we can get a metsblog member thing going that weekend.
First to Matt and all the Bloggers a big thank you for some great reads on our favorite team over these winter months.
I know it’s absurd to worry about an extra bullpen arm for late in the year at this time but I’d like to know how A. Burgos is doing off of T. John surgery. Any chance he’d be back by August or September?
He didn’t show much last year and coming off surgery he might show even less but guy’s who could touch triple digits on the gun are rare so I’m curious how he’s doing. Is T. John surgery still an 18 month recovery? Can’t recall.
Thanks, enjoy FLA
Ask the players will they do anything special for the fans the last day at shea ( hopefully carry a trophy out for all to see would be a start) .
The Mets organization should have some kind of drawings as give aways to loyal Mets fans. Yes I know every person would send a postcard in , but you that would be a great gesture to the fans at home as well at the stadium
I will be bouncing between Orlando and Port St. Lucie between 2/29-3/6, not sure I’ll be in St. Lucie except the 3rd and 5th as I’m going to those games, but if there on the 1st will stop into Duffy’s.
I’ll be there one day too late. Heading down to PSL on 3/2 early morning.
anybody know wha the best price level/section at Tradition field is? I know the Terrace level is the most expensive, but is it necessarily the best? looks to be toward the outfield…
